  1. Q2. (Matthew 13:22; Luke 8:14) Which of the thorns that Jesus mentions do you think is the most dangerous: Riches, worries/cares, or pleasures? Why do you think so? I think they are all dangerous, Jesus said that it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven, so I guess that riches are worse but pleasure causes a lot of people to falter and worries keep a lot of us from experiencing the joy that Christ brings through the Holy Spirit.
  2. Q4. Why is repentance so central to the Kingdom of God? Why is baptism important to converts to the King? Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart? Because God can't look on sin and to be free of sin it must be confessed and repentance be given. Baptism is a means of being apart of the death of Christ and our acceptance that He rose again and is now at the right hand of the Father. Christ is always there waiting for us to ask Him to come in and unrepentant heart will never truly ask Christ to come in because they don't want to give up their control.
  3. Q3. (Matthew 3:11) What is the point of comparison between John
  4. Q1. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repent of their known sins? Why do people avoid repentance? What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart? I think that most people who come to Christ want at first to be repentant but don't know how or just what is involved. They want to be a christian but still live as they have been living. They want to believe in Christ and nothing further. If they repent they would have to give up the things they do that they know is sinful and they would take them out of the world and they don't want that. They avoid repentance for just this reason. I have no idea what the percentage would be but guess it to be large. The heart is wicked the gospel says and a hardened heart is even worse.
  5. Q3. (Philemon 18-19) Paul vouches for Onesimus and puts up his money (at least in theory) to cover Onesimus
  6. Q1. (Philemon 12) Why does Paul send Onesimus back to Philemon where he can lose his freedom again? Why is it necessary for Paul to do this? Why is it necessary for Onesimus to do this? Because he is a slave and as such subject to a master, and because of the words of Jesus to be faithful Onesimus must return and make things right with his master. It is necessary for Paul because he also must do what is right and send Onesimus home because he is aware that he is a slave and Paul is only showing him that he also much do what Jesus wants us all to do as we serve Him.
  7. Q4. (Colossians 4:17) Why do you think Archippus was singled out in verse 17? If you could invent a story of his role in the Colossian church, how would you describe Archippus? In what ways does he remind you of yourself? Tell Archippus:
  8. Q3. (Colossians 4:5-6) What instructions does Paul give us in sharing our faith with non-believers? Why, do you think, we sometimes let opportunities slip by? How will our conversation being
  9. Q2. (Colossians 4:3-4) What prayer request does Paul ask of the Colossian believers? What does it mean to pray for an
  10. Q1. (Colossians 4:2) What guidelines does Paul give us to form our praying habits? If you put these into practice fully, how would they affect your prayer life? What problems would they help correct? "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." (4:2) Paul tells them and us to be diligent in our prayer life, to be watchful against being led astray by worldly lusts, and to always be thankful because all our needs are supplied by God in Christ Jesus. If we put this into practice we would become more effective in our prayer lives and more faithful about praying. The problem this would correct is our selfish desires and requests. We would be more in tune to what God the Father wants us to pray about.
  11. Q2. (Colossians 3:20-21) In what way does obedience prepare a child for everyday life in the future? For spiritual life in the future? What can fathers do to keep from discouraging their children? It develops structure that help them get alone with other, leaders at their jobs, schools, churches, and government leaders. It also instills a sense of honor toward their parents. Father need to encourage their children not just correct them. Children need to know that their fathers are happy with them and love them for who they are and father need to add to their learning process by helping them learn to use good judgments in their corrections.
  12. Q1. (Colossians 3:18-19) Why do you think Paul chose these directions to give to wives and husbands
  13. Q3. (Colossians 3:8) Why are sins of the tongue so easy to slip into? In what ways do they damage us and others? How can we break free of sins of the tongue? They get into our heads and come out without our thinking about it. Hearing bad language all the time seems to grow whether we want it to or not. We find it easy to be lured into foul language but difficult to stop once we start using it. The worst times are when anger comes on us and we lose control the words seem to find their way out with out warning. If we try and stay away from as much as we can we may be able to keep it from affecting us, if we put enough of the word into our vocabulary then they can be there in our times of need. Psalms 119 says I have written your word on my heart so I will not sin against you, to me this means putting it into memory so that it comes out instead of the wrong words.
  14. Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin? It seems to control our thoughts because everything we see or hear can lead to sexual thoughts and desires. It can control our very lives if we don't try and control it. Control of sexual desire for some is though of as easy but to some it is a daily struggle and for some they just don't try. **** for anything can become a controlling thing if we let it.

  17. Q4. (Colossians 1:23) If our salvation depends upon the grace of God, not f Colossians 1:23 in its appropriate context.) It is necessary to continue in faith because without faith you are lost without faith there can be no remission for sin. we must believe that Jesus is who He says and will do what He says He will do, and we must believe that God sent Him to die for our sin and He rose the third day or else our faith is worthless. If we lose our faith then it is as if we never believe at all and we are dead in our sin.The nature of security we have is that Jesus has saved us there is nothing we need do but continue in faith that we had when we first heard the gospel.
