  1. In what sense was the Kingdom of God present in the Person and ministry of Jesus? The Kingdom of God was present in Jesus himself when he came on earth in flesh and its presence had already been begun since Jesus taught, gathered disciples, and exercised God's authority on earth In what sense is the Kingdom of God present today? The Kingdom of God is present now in the Person of Jesus, who lives now and forever. It is present forever in the Person of Jesus
  2. Why is continual asking, seeking, and knocking so essential to our looking forward to the Kingdom? Because doing them continually it shows that we seriously depend on him to meet our needs, that we seriously ask him for a thing, and that we seriously trust him Why do we give up so easily? Because we are lazy to pray, we do not have confidence that God will answer our prayer How do we gain boldness and persistence in prayer? We have to know rightly who we, those who believe in him, are before God, and who he is, and then we have to believe God will meet his promises
  3. Why is repentance so central to the Kingdom of God? Because it is the rule of the Kingdom of God for those who want to enter the Kingdom of God, and through it we acknowledge that Jesus is the King of the Kingdom of God whom we must obey, and through it Jesus will reign in our heart Why is baptism important to converts to the King? Because it is a moment in which they affirm publicly that they repent of their sins and acknowledge Jesus' power and authority over them Can Christ reign in an unrepentant heart? No, because one who has an unrepentant heart refuses to make Jesus be a king in his/her lives
  4. What happens when people adopt the Christian faith without repent of their known sins? Their faith is dead (James 2:26), the Holy Spirit will not abide in them, and they will not inherit the Kingdom of God (Galatian 5:21) Why do people avoid repentance? Because they more love this world or themselves than God What percentage of Christians today do you think are unrepentant, unprepared in heart? They are more than 50%, they are more than Christians who have repentant heart
  5. What character flaws does Diotrephes exhibit? First, he is self-centered; second, he is proud of himself, he does not want to humble himself; third, he is domineering and controlling, and fourth, he is a slanderer Can a person be a strong pastoral leader without developing these traits? Yes, he/she can, if he/she wants to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. If you have tendencies in yourself towards pride and a controlling spirit, how can you fight against them? I have to learn to humble myself by the help of the Holy Spirit
  6. What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? First, they go forth deliberately to serve Christ; second, they go out in the name of Jesus, third, they don
  7. Why does the Apostle John tell his readers to refuse hospitality to the false teachers? It is because the false teachers are very dangerous. They are antichrists and deceivers. If we show hospitality to them, we will give them chances to spread their teachings to us. What would refusing hospitality mean for a congregation (as opposed to an individual)? It would means not inviting the false teachers to the assembly and letting them to speak in it What is the border between tolerance and stupidity, when it comes to false teachers? In relation to false teacher, tolerance and stupidity is the same. We should not be tolerant at all to them. We will be in stupidity if we give him cordial greetings, encouragement, chances to say their faith or teaching to us. Do the divisions of denominationalism find justification in this verse? Why or why not? No, because they are usually not caused by the difference of the faith in Christ, of how to consider Christ Jesus as the Son of, our Lord, and our Savior, but by the differences of ways to worship him, what is allowed to eaten or not according to the Bible, etc, which by those all we will be closer to God. God see our heart and our faith, not the method and tool we use. Sometimes, the new denomination is introduced by a leader because of the pride of the leader
  8. What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's teachings to "deeper truths"? "Running ahead" of Christ's teachings to "deeper truths" can cause not continuing in teaching of Christ. If anyone has this condition, as stated in 2 John 9, he/she will not have God, or he/she will not have eternal life What is the danger of "running ahead" of Christ's guidance for our lives? We will go towards the condition of not continuing in teaching of Christ. If we have this condition, we will not have eternal life in Christ What does it mean to "abide" or "continue" in Christ and his teachings? It means that we keep holding our faith in Christ, and living out our lives in conformity with the Word of God, Jesus
  9. Why does John exhort his "children" to "keep yourselves from idols"? John wants us to not let anything false or unworthy take the place of our true faith in God What idols distract us from the true God? So many things, such as our job, family, hobby, money, etc. What idols compete with God for attention in your life? My self-esteem
  10. What are the two conditions to answered prayer in 1 John? (See also 3:22.) First, we walk in the light, do not love the world. It is our obedience. Second, we ask it according to his will. How do we determine God's will so that we can pray boldly, confidently? We determine God
  11. What is the difference between saying "this life is in the Christian Church" and "this life is in his Son"? "This life is in the Christian Church" is that the life can be found in the church, without a must to be in association with him "This life is in his Son" is that the eternal life is found in Jesus, and in him only, the church must only show the way of how to find the life in Jesus, is not the life itself What should we be doing differently so that we teach a faith relationship rather than a religion? We should be teaching that to have living and personal fellowship with Jesus through faith in Jesus is what God wants in our lives, not to do the laws of the religion which is separated from Jesus. What is the difference between "faith" and "faith in Jesus"? One can claim that he has faith that he believe in God and he do the laws that come from him, but he does not believe and acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God and has come to the world and died on the cross for his sins. This is not the faith that saves that God requires we have. The faith in Jesus is that faith that is related to the God
  12. How does a defeatist mentality differ from a belief that in Christ we have overcome the world? The one who has a defeatist mentality is passive in the face of evil and evil men, does not take efforts to win the battle against sin and the world , pessimistic about winning over sin; whereas the one who has a belief that in Christ we have overcome the world is, because he knows his Jesus, who has overcome the world, and knows who he is now, that is, he was born of God and Jesus is in him, by holding firmly his faith I Jesus he is optimistic that he will win over sin and the world, and take efforts to win the battle against sin and the world What part does faith have in this overcoming? Faith is standing in the truth of Jesus
  13. What kind of fear should we have towards God? We respect and honor him and do what please him as a result of our knowing of him our fellowship with him What kind of fear is extinguished by his love perfected in us? The fear that intimidates or alarms us as a result of being told continuously of the punishment that we will receive because of our sins, at the Day of Judgment What kind of attitude should we have towards future judgment? The attitude that shows that we are looking forward to that event, that is, as written in I John 2:28, we continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and ashamed before him at his coming; and, as written in 2 Peter 3:14, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him
  14. Why is the statement, "God is love," so important? This statement tells us that because God is love, we his children must live in love, if we do not live in love we are not his children What does it say about God's nature? It says that in all his actions he acts with love How does love being the essence of God's nature affect us? We have to make every effort to love one another If we were created in God's image of love, but fell, what does this say about the road to healing in our lives? We come to him, confess that we did not live in love, and then continue have a close relationship with him and live in love Why does love demand a willingness to forgive? Because keeping holding anger towards those who have offended us is love
  15. What in us is greater than false prophets and even Satan? Holy Spirit In what sense have we overcome them? We have been born of God because of our trust in Christ Jesus In what way will we overcome them in the future? We keep holding our faith. We continue trusting in Christ. How should this truth affect fear in our lives? This truth should remove our fear in our lives
  16. Why is believing that Jesus was God in the flesh so important? Because by believing that Jesus was God in the flesh we are saved, the Spirit of God abides in us Why doesn't Satan want us to believe that? Because Satan does not want us to be saved by believing that What are the implications of the fact that Jesus could live out his divine life in a human body like ours? The only right and just way to help and save men from the punishment of sins is to be human being. In his human body Jesus could substitute them to bear the punishment that they should bear. What significance does it bring to the crucifixion and to the resurrection? To crucifixion, with his human body like ours, Jesus
  17. We know that God doesn't "owe" us anything. So what is the relationship between obedience and answered prayer? He, our heavenly Father, is leading us, his children, to his plan that is good for us for the present and for the future of us. God supplies us anything what we need to live in according to his plan. In order that what he has planned for us can be achieved, he disciplines us, although for this we endure hardship and our prayer do not be answered. God wants us that we obey him. If not, consequently, we have his discipline, and he do not answer our prayer. Do we "earn" God's favor through obedience? No. We receive his favor because of his grace, not because of our obedience. We do not deserve his favor
  18. How can anger turn into hatred in our hearts? We hold onto anger, or harbor anger so that it produces hatred in our hearts In what way do anger and hatred relate to murder? The spirit that underlies anger and hatred and murder is exactly the same How can we get rid of stored-up anger in our hearts so that we may love those who have offended us? We must forgive those who offended us
