  1. The psalmist felt discouraged and without hope. He was depressed. he fled to the desert and isolated himself. He uses praise to god and self evaluation and dialogue to fight it. I battle with depression also. I have found refuge in a personal relationship with God and helping others.
  2. To dwell is to make the Lord the ruler of your life and therefore experience his love. when one does so, other people will sometimes notice your actions and outlook and by witnessing a Christian's actions , that person might be motivated to develop a personal relationship with God. To seek his face is to spend time with the Lord by talking to him as you would a close friend and spending time in his word. David is hopeful at the end of the Psalm by reminding us to wait for the Lord and his will.
  3. The Apostles and Paul had a personal relationship with Jesus. They serve as an example of obedience to God. Minimizing/straying/superceding- we are not in tune with God's word and are following our own desires. Denying- we take away the power of the gospel.
  4. Paul was careful to be humble because of the type of man he was before God called him. He describes himself as a violent man. Paul knew he was unworthy of God's grace. His example can help us remain humble and focused on God's will.
  5. The mystery Paul was talking about was that Gentiles are people of God along with the Jews. In Paul's day, Gentiles were made to feel like second class citizens.
  6. Ephesians 3:12 teaches us to approach God as children approach the father. We are not to be timid but rather be bold. We are to have faith and confidence in him. If we try to pray without these qualities, then God does grant his mercy and grace. Our prayers are unheard.
  7. Jesus death on the cross fulfilled the Mosaic law. His death paid for our sins and reconciled Gentiles and Jews together.
  8. Being out of touch means having no eternal hope so it would be difficult to worship. Those that do not know Christ tend to be full of themselves and unconcerned about others.
  9. To have access to the Father is to have a personal relationship with him. The Holy Spirit assists by guiding us in prayer and touching our hearts. The Holy Spirit knows the mind and heart of God. Through faith in God, Jesus makes it possible for us to be blessed.
  10. The dwelling place for God in the Spirit is created by Christians gathering together in God's name. Human beings and the gossip, pride, and selfish acts prevent it from being fully experienced. I can help by being a good example and participating in the body of Christ.
  11. We were created to do good works and to live as Jesus did- serving others. These works were part of an eternal plan and the gifts of the Holy Spirit guide those works. There is a difference between works of the flesh described by Paul and the work of serving others that is God given.
  12. Saved means to be taken from the grips of the devil. We are taken out of harm's way by being saved. We were freed from sin so therefore we were saved from eternal fire.
  13. Faith is believing in something that we cannot see. An example is gravity. We cannot see "gravity" but we fee it's effects daily and the world could not function without it. Humans cannot take credit for faith- it is a god given gift. I believe we are given faith in varying amounts by God. Some people have no faith- I believe that there is a chance of condemnation for lack of it.
  14. Non-believers are dead because they are dead to eternal life and are following the world and Satan. They lack a personal relationship with God. Some people beleive in God and worship through idols and silly rituals. The difference between us and them is that we have a personal relationship with God and attempt ot serve God . we have been saved by God's grace. Beleivers can testify and bear witness to them and show them the difference between being alive in Christ and dead to him.
  15. People follow Satan by focusing their energy on the human condition, not spending time in God's word and not allowing the Holy Spirit to guid e us. We are responsible for rebelling against God by making sinful choices and not keeping our focus on God. God gives us the Bible as a guide . He gave us the directions and we must chose to follow them and communicate with him through prayer.
  16. God's motivation and character can be described as forgiving, with merce, grace and love. Verbs that describe what happens to us in Christ are: cleansing, washed cleaned and new beginning.
  17. We are seated with Christ by God's grace and through heartfelt salvation. God's grace is always with us. His grace helps us fight Satan and our enemys. This gives us the suthority to lead our own destiny by following and seeking God's word. By knowing this, we should be motivated to bear witness to others.
  18. We are powerless sometimes because we consider only our worldly resources not the eternal ones. This comes from lack of faith. Some movements/congregations produce dispicles differently because of the teaching methods and some are more open to the movement of the Holy spirit.
  19. I would spend less time struggling financially and would attempt to share my wealth with others less fortunate than me. I would compile a list of groups/organizations that might benefit. We should attempt to share out heavenly inheritance with non believers and invite them to become a child of God. This inheritance should create a sense of unity or oneness with fellow beleivers.
  20. Christians have eternal life and freedom from the physical and emotional pain that being human beings create . We should be hopeful because we as believers can look forward to no more pain, suffering and peace with other brothers and sisters in Christ. We can allow this hope to affect our decisions and lifestyle by ministering to those less fortunate than ourselves. If we treat other people with respect and peace , I believe that this also is what God wants his children to do. The non believer has no hope because without God all they have is the worldly existence.
  21. humans often take a pass when it comes to being soldiers for Christ. Fear, ignorance and the inability to see that we are to be the machines for Christ. Paul warned us about this because of the deviousness of Satan and urges us to be on guard. Human beings tend to feel powerless in the face of spiritual enemies because they fail to understand God's great strength and lose focus and make worldly things a priority. Paul is assuring the Ephesians to use the power of the Holy Spirit and allow Gos to be charge. This should encourage us to stand tall as a warrior of God and be faithful.
  22. When we are not part of a local congregation, we miss the opportunity to share our God-given gifts and we also cannot benefit from the gifts of others. By aprticipating in a local congregation, one can meet people who beleive and become friends. We withhold blessing from others by not taking opportunity to grow and mature in the Lord.
  23. Christians have the promise of eternal life to look forward to. This hope should motivate us to try to do God's will daily. This promise allows us to believe in eternal life without the troubles and trials of human existence. A non -beleiver has no hope- they are forced to look for hope in everyday life.
  24. Seal--- identifies me as a believer of God. This has given when i made the decsion for salvation. Downpayment- Christ's death on the cross. Demonstrates by continued faith and trust in God. End of the Term--- happens when God's kingdom is again established on the earth. These analogies help explain the Holy Spirit's presence by binding us to God.
  25. God's Purpose for our lives is that we do good works and that by our example. people are brought to Christ. Each Person is given certain gifts and talents . God intends that one uses their talents and gifts to praise him. In order to fulfill this purpose, each person must spend time in the word and in doing good works. This directly relates to matthew 5:13-16.
