  1. 1) We can recognize greed in ourselves when we desire things that we don't need. 2) When we constantly buy more food than we can eat, more clothes than we can wear, a bigger house than we need, four or five cars and only drive one at a time, etc...These things show that we have become greedy without realizing it. 3) One antidote for greed is to give to an unfortunate person when we have the desire to buy something that we don't need. We should be content with what God has blessed us with. 4) Our contentment and happines with whatever we have. When we stop worrying about what others possessed. There is a reason that God hasn't given you some things. 5) Our security should always depend on God who supplies all our needs. If He felt that we needed it, He would have given it to us. 6) We should never forget his promise that he would never forsake us. He said to ask and we shall receive and if he hasn't given it to us, there is a reason and we should make ourselves content.

  3. 1) We are to show love to strangers & visit prisoners, because we are to treat others as we want to be treated and we should be like one family. Everyone has faults and we should disregard them and love them just as they are with brotherly love. 2) I love being around people and I am a good listener. I love visiting the sick, hospitals and senior citizens. My heart goes out to these people. 3) Even though I love being around people, I am weak at speaking to groups. I am much better in one-on-one conversations. I am constantly nervous about being rejected by my listeners. I have been praying about improvement in this area.
  4. 1) Yes, the fear of God is healthy because our fear should be of thankfulness, service and reverence. We know that he doesn't want us to be so afraid of him that we won't come to him; and that whatever mistakes we make, we know that he is a loving and forgiving God. 2) The fear of God is unhealthy whenever we are so afraid that if we do make a mistake, he will always judge us harshly. We shouldn't forget that he is a just and understanding God. Thank God he is a forgiving God and as long as you repent, he will forgive and give you another chance. 3) God has perfect love for us and knowing this assures us that we don't have to fear God in an unhealthy way. Our faith in God's promises gives us the confidence that we don't have to fear.
  5. 1) No, we are not saved just by being holy, we are saved by Christ dyng on the cross to save us from our sins; but we must become Holy to see God. We must live holy lives like Christ lived. We must learn to live in peace, have sexual purity and live a Godly life. 2) Yes, we can't continue to sin day after day knowing what the Word of God says and expect to go to Heaven. 1st Corinthians 6: 9-11 & Galatians 5:19-21 makes it very clear that Heaven will not be your home if you continue to indulge in these things.

  7. 1) According to Hebrews, God is discipling us not punishing us, but in other parts of the Bible, they were definitely punished for disobedience. In any case, any punishment we receive is training us to live righteously. 2) The purpose for God's discipline is for our training to be his son or daughter, just like we do our own children. He wants us to be mature Christians.
  8. 1) It shows me that He must care. If He didn't love me, He would not care enough to punish me. It assures me that I have another chance to get my life right. I don't consider my struggls and hardships as punishment, I consider that there is a lesson for me. 2) It produces righteous and peace in ourlives and prepares us to live and conduct ourselves as heirs in training.
  9. 1) Spiritual Warfare is a battle and satan is fighting hard to kill us and he puts all kinds of obstacles in our path; then when we aren't getting anywhere, we grow weary. Satan knows that when we get too weary, we get weak and then we return to our old ways. We must constantly pray and keep our faith in GOd's promises. 2) We must resist because Satan is after our souls and he will destroy us, then go on to someone else. 3) Yes, so many times. I'm sure that everyone has gone through this weariness at one time or the other, but you have to keep on praying despite the weariness.
  10. 1) The faithful Saints who came before, the dead, who had witnessed all of the previous things of life. They are around us like a cloud. 2) Let us keep running in the race that God has planned for us. Let nothing distract us from reaching our goal. Keep our eyes on our reward. 3) Jesus is our example. He lived a righteous life and we are to follow His example. 4) He lived by faith when He suffered and died on the cross and never hesitated to not complete his goal. 5) He is the finisher of our faith because He endured to the end what He came to earth to do.
  11. 1) The most powerful motivating factor was the faith they had in God's promises to lead them to a new land. 2) They had faith in God and after seeing the miracles they had seen in Egypt, this encouraged them more. 3) The Egyptian army was following the wrong leader. They put their faith in man and not God as the Isralites did. They believed that God had promised to resuce them from slavery, so they didn't believe that He wouldn't keep His promise. 4) Rahab seemed to have both, but most of all she had stronger faith that she or the others wouldn't die .
  12. 1) MOSES WAS WILLING TO SUFFER BECAUSE HE WAS OBEDIENT TO GOD AND HAD SUCH FAITH THAT HE WAS WILLING TO SUFFER WITH HIS TRUE COUNTRYMEN IF HE HAD TO. 2) MOSES COULD SEE ALL THE SIN AROUND HIM AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO LEAD TO DESTRUCTION AND HE DIDN'T WANT ANY PART OF IT, BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING TOARD HIS HEAVENLY REWARD FOR LIVING RIGHT. HE ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT THEY WERE TRANSIENTS IN THE WORLD. THE SAME VISIONS OF DESTRUCTION ARE GOING ON TODAY. iF WE OBEY GOD'S COMMANDMENTS, WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO OUR REWARD.
  13. 1) THEY ARE CONTRARY TO THE WAYS OF THIS WORLD. PHYSICALLY WE LIVE IN THIS WORLD, BUT OUR STANDARDS ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD. WE BELONG TO GOD EVEN THOUGH WE ARE IN THIS WORLD, WHILE THE NON-BELIEVERS BELONG TO THE CHRIST-DYING WORLD. 2) TO LIVE A RIGHTEOUS LIFE IN THIS WORLD AND NOT CONFORM TO THE WAYS OF THIS WORLD. WE BELONG TO GOD AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS GOD UNDERSTANDS AND OBEYS HIM--NOT THE DICTATES OF THE WORLD.
  14. 1) ABRAHAM ENCOURAGES ME TO CONTINUE TO LIVE A RIGHTEOUS LIFE AND TO FOLLOW GOD'S DIRECTIONS NO MATTER WHAT OBSTACLES I WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH , NO MATTER HOW STRANGE THEY MAY BE TO ME AND NO MATTER IF I SEE THE END, BUT TO LOOK FORWARD TO MY FINAL REWARD. 2) THE HEAVENLY CITY OF JERUSALEM 3) THE HOLY CITY THAT WAS DESIGNED AND BUILT BY GOD
  15. 1) By faith, Abraham traveld to an unknown land without any idea where he was going; and by faith, he offered his son back to God as he was directed. Abraham had unbelievable trust in God and believed that God would do what he said he would. 2) If we trust in God and are obedient, through his faithfulness we can experience his existance and power without actually seeing him. 3) Without both elements of faith, llife would be empty. You wouldn't have any faith. Man believes that everything (good or bad) that happens in his life is his own doing. He doesn't believe that he couldn't exist if it wasn't for God. 4) Faith is the confidence that what we hope will actually happen and it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
  16. 1) It is my understanding that the Judeo-Christian had a strong belief in God. They put all of their confidence in Christ that he would do what he said they would do. 2) Noah's faith was built on fear for him and his family, but it was a reverent fear and he had such confidence that he obeyed him. 3) Our basis of faith is what we think of God and our belief in his promises to reward us. 4) Our faith grows by hearing, reading and studying the Word of God. Without our faith in God we would be lost.
  17. 1) The second element is just as essential, because when you have faith in God, you want to have a closer relationship with him. This relationship pleases God and shows him that you truly trust and have faith in him. 2) To "seek" God is to look to him for everything; to study his Word more; to pray constantly; and to know his ways. 3) It makes a difference when you will be rewarded, because it increases your faith whenever you are rewarded as you were promised in the Word.
  18. 1) Even though we are not able to see it, faith is the assurance that we shall receive it. 2) Through faith we understand that the world was made by the Word of God, even though these things were made from what we could not see.
  19. 1) Sometimes you have to go through a great deal of struggles and start loosing your faith, but if you persevere no matter what happens, you will gain your reward. 2)You are promised a heavenly reward if you continue to persevere. 3) It is usually harder for a Christian, because they are trying to live right and it seems like a lot of obstacles keep coming their way. 4) You can encourge them by telling them of your person experiences and keep telling them to keep the faith to believe that God will bring them through if they continue to believe.
  20. 1) When you "deliberately keep on sinning", you are actually defying God. You are saying that he died on the cross for nothing. 2) Turning away from God or taking against the Holy Spirit would be good examples. 3) No! These sins can be forgiven. 4) This is indeed a rejection of God.
  21. 1) The Bible commands us to meet together with Christians often. We should encourage believers to keep their minds on God and learn to love each other and doing good. 2) Most people have only personal reasons so that they can gain something from meeting together. 3) For different reason, like someone says something that they don't like or other things in the outside world interests them more. 4) We have to keep encouraging them. Find out what is keeping them out of church or a group. Find things that will keep them interested.
  22. 1. The veil of the Tabernacle separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies, where the Ark of the Covenant was located. This was where God's throne. 2. Ripping of the veil signifies that with Christ dying on the cross, we would no longer be separated from God. 3. This means that a new way would be made by a living savior 4. It was new because it didn't exixt for man before Jesus died for our sins. 5. It was living because Christ was not a martyr, but a ressurrected and living savior who will forever make inter cession for us.
  23. 1. The sacrifice of animals to atone for a human did not take away their sins because the animal was the lesser and man the greater and sacrificing an animal did not affect the heart of a human. You must have a repentant heart. It is impossible for animals to take away sins. 2. Christ paid the price for the past, present and future sins. The Priest had to continually pray for forgiveness for man, because he kept sinning, but now we can make atonement for ourselves.
