  1. 1. In the first coming, Christ came to take away our sins by being the suffering servant; but the second coming will bring about salvation. 2. The Jewish people are expecting the second coming. They are looking for a saviour. 3. Isaiah 53 foretold of the first coming, because Jesus was the Suffering Servant who took on the sins of all the people.
  2. Jesus serves as a mediator between God and man. He has brought us together. Jesus redeemed us from sin by shedding his blood, which freed us from being a slave to sin.
  3. Since Christ, who has never sinned, died on the cross to save us from sin; this sacrifice should assure us that our conscience has been cleansed. Christ's freely gave his life for us and our conscience should be clear on this matter.
  4. 1. Redemption is the ransoming or releasing of something for a price. 2. The price of our redemption was Jesus' blood. His precious blood that he shed so freely for our sins. 3. Thank God that his price never ends. It will last forever.
  5. 1. Killing of an animal does nothing for the inner person or conscience of a human being. It is just a ritual that doesn't affect a person at all. 2. A guilty conscience stays with you always until you ask for forgiveness. A guilty conscience will make you approach God with humbleness. 3. If you have faith in God and repent, you will believe his Word and know that you can go to him freely and boldly.
  6. Not the Old Covenant did not provide forgiveness for intentional sins. The New Covenant does provide this forgiveness because of grace. If we are to be forgiven, we must have faith that he will forgive us, we must ask humbly for forgiveness, and we must repent.
  7. The Old Covenant failed because the people were not faithful to it. The people were weak and the sin nature took over and whenever they sinned, they were judged to die. The primary promises of the New Covenant were: the Holy Spirit internalized in our hearts; the people and God would be together; the people would know God on a personal level; and the people would be forgiven of their sins.
  8. Jesus is the "mediator" between us and God. He was the "mediator" when he died on the cross to save us. He is the "mediator" when we pray to deliver us from our sins. Thank God for being our "mediator".
  9. 1. Jesus is the High Priest who is holy, blameless, without sin, exalted above the heavens and has been made perfect forever. 2. Jesus is different from human priests because he make sacrifices for sin only once, only for the people and not himself, and he has been made perfect forever. 3. It gives me confidence to know that Jesus died and rose once for our sins; and since he is our High Priest forever, as long as we are obedient, we know that we have eternal salvation.
  10. Jesus died on the cross for our salvation and has the right to intercede for us, so he is able to save us to the "uttermost". The Priest is our teacher and is always praying and ministering for our salvation. He is constantly going to God on our behalf. The priest prays to God for us. Even though we may not pray as much as we should, the priest is always interceding for us, so that no souls will be lost.
  11. Q2. (a) A guarantee is a promise, an assurance, to make oneself answerable for something. If something is guaranteed, you know that it will be completed. (b ) Jesus has promised to save us by dying on the cross and he kept his promise. He also said that we would find a home in heaven if we live right, so he has guaranteed to see us there and he never breaks his promise.
  12. Q1. (a) Our faith and bellief is in Jesus and we flee to him because we know that he never fails and promised to be there for us whenever we need him. (b ) We are confident that he keeps his promises, so we hold onto His Word. (c ) If you believe in the "Word of God", you know that this is true and that there is no doubt. (d) An anchor keeps all secure, so we know that we can depend on God to firmly keep us grounded and keep his promises.
