  2. Q2. (Colossians 1:20-22) By what means did Jesus accomplish this reconciliation? What does "the blood of his cross" have to do with it? What is the purpose of this reconciliation? (verse 22) To whom are we "presented?" (verse 22) Jesus accomplished this reconcilation by offering his body and having his blood spilled out to pay once and for all for sin. No longer were animal sacrifices needed he was perfect and sinless and God accepted his sacrifice as payment for sin once and for all.He became the sacrifical sacrifice in place of the animals for us and since he was perfect it covered all sin past present and future. It reconciles us mankind thru Jesus' death He can present us to God as acceptable he paid the price of our redemption and made us just as if we had not sinned.

  4. Q1. (Colossians 1:15a, 19) The great understanding of Judaism was that God is spirit, not physical. That he is invisible. Any idol that tries to depict him is blasphemous. So what is the significance of the statement that Jesus is

  6. Q4. (Colossians 1:12-13) What are the three or four action verbs in verses 12 and 13 that paint a picture of salvation? Who performs the action? Who is it performed on? In what way were we

  8. Q1. (Colossians 1:5-6) Paul glorifies the gospel, the good news. What words does he use to describe the action of the gospel in verses 5 and 6? Given the temptation the recipients have to adopt another religious philosophy, why do you think he reminds them of the world scope of the gospel
  9. Q4. (Genesis 48:15) How did God act as a Shepherd to Jacob? How does God act as a Shepherd to you? Do you trust him or rebel against his shepherding?[/color] God went before Jacob. He led him on to where he wanted him. He would see to it that Jacob was heading the way he should and then When Jacob was close he would communicate in a dream to him and make it clear what was expected. God also made sure he was near by when Jacob was dealing with his father in law and made sure Laban's tricks would not work to make Jacob poor. He protected Jacob even when His Wife was in sin of hiding idols . He would let Jacob know that God was with him even in hard times. But even Jacob got depressed without keeping his friendship with god alive. As he did when he lost David. \\ God acts as a shepherd to me in that He will give me a nudge when I am going astray . and even let me wander a bit but then give a warning sign that I am leaving to far from the flock. or to far for Him to see all his flock together. and gives a gentle push back to where I should be or picks me up and depsotis me where he wants me. As he did when I moved far away from this are and I lost my job and all car and had to move back. He let me know for sure he wanted me in this area. I trust and rebell. both. I trust along for a while then get my eyes on something more than on his mission and I rebell and go my way for a time. So I need to be diciplined at times.
  10. Q3. Why do we equate blessing with a lack of crisis in our lives? What are the effects of crises on our faith? How do they help us grow in our faith? Why do they sometimes destroy our faith? We are free when feeling blessed , we don't have to think up ways to be at rest. yet this rest is dangerous for two long We think calm equals blessing, but again fine for a short time .. .. we get stuck and lazy and don't care to do anything for anyone other than ourselves. Crisis rears up and we see that the calm has left and there are little problems pricking at us and we become alert,,, We can't handle it at times and need to seek God and others. It makes us need God and need others. all this time we have been happy and sufficient unto ourselves we feel blessed . We can be blessed in another way helping others our of their crisis or problems. Crisis puts some life into our lazy bones. If we need to take on challanges to get out of crisis , we have to lean on and trust God, Others. We have to search the word for the answers and ask others of their experience with such matters then we start to grow and expand in faith. Sometimes Crises destroy our faith if we put our faith in things or persons other than God. or if we will not reach out . sometimes it is the object that is being taken away or person that is being harmed is to close to our hearts. We have made that thing or person or event greater in our eyes and hearts than God is. It is like a friendship... we need to put effort into a friendship and not just sit back and think it will stay alive without communication and experiences together. We stop calling or getting together and sit back and wait for the other to respond and the friendship can fizzle out. Oh you will most often treasure old times but it will not grow into anything more. it will flatline.
  11. Q2. (Genesis 48) Why does Jacob cross his hands when blessing Ephraim and Manasseh? Why does Joseph try to stop him? In what sense are Jacob
  12. Q4. (Genesis 46:2-4) Faith is what quiets our fears. What in God's word to Jacob at Beersheba quiets his fears? God had brought the same assurance to Jacob before (28:15; 31:3). Why do you think he had stopped believing it? What is the relationship between faith and God's words? In Gods word to Jacob at Beersheba He made it clear God would take Jacob into Egypt and Joseph would be there and that Joseph would be at Jacobs side at death. And that God would bring the families out of Egypt when the time was right. e Faith is believing what we Have not seen. If God says it will be we must have a faith that believes even if it seems that the opposite of his promises seem to be Happening that God will make His words real perhaps in ways we dont see. Joseph could not see why things were happening to him in the life he lived. But God made good come out of some tough and Hard tims in His Life. God says it- He does it.
  13. Q3. (Genesis 45:4-8) Contrast Jacob and Joseph. Jacob has suffered great loss. Joseph has suffered great injustice. Why is Jacob's vision so bleak, but Joseph's so broad? What have been their differing responses to fear? What insight has kept Joseph from being bitter towards his brothers? Jacob was experiencing alot of loss in life and I think instead of trusting God , and remembering God's promises He let fear make him physically and emotionally sick. Fear imprisoned him in himself ... He had not seen his wife and children as Gods and got angry after loss. Closed God out. Joseph in his heart kept his dreams in mind. He opened up with a mind set that He could not change what was happening to him. He loved and trusted and I believe had a good relationship with His God. He allowed God to work out the details. Fear made HimLean on and Trust God more. He knew that even in their hatred and mean ness of selling Him. They had not known it but God used them to get Joseph to where God could Use Joseph. He did test his brothers not for his own sake but for the sake of His younger brother. To see if they had changed. He knew God Had brought him there to feed His people keep them from dying in the famine. God Had promises to Keep to Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Even though Jacob had lost mind of the Promises.
  14. Q1. (Genesis 37:31-35) What does bringing the blood-stained robe to Jacob say about these sons
  15. Q5. (Genesis 35:22) What is the significance of Reuben
  16. Q4. (Genesis 35:9-15) Why do you think God appears to Jacob yet another time? What are the primary promises that God renews to Jacob? Jacob has just had his people wash, clean, and buty or destroy all the signs of their idol worship , repent and turn to God Almighty or leave and go to their people . Those with Jacob were now renewed to God. I feel God appeared again to Jacob to say He was accepting the repentance of Jacob and the people and was not renewing his promise basically the manynd people and nations that would be born as his off spring , nations and kings etc. The promis of the land he had given to Isaac and Abraham was his and that He was their God and had accepted repentance.
