Jesus was the promise made to the forefathers. He was worthy of opening the scroll because He is of the Root of David; Isaiah 11:1, "There shall come forth a Rod from the Stem of Jesse. And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord." And in V4, "With righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth. 2. I Cor. 6:20 says,

  6. Q1. Many Christian hymns, songs, and choruses come from Revelation chapters 4 and 5. Which can you think of There are many hymns, songs and choruses that come from the book of RevelationThe ones that come to the front of my mind are Be Thou My Vision, Come before His Presence, Holy, Holy, Holy, Glory, and Honor, and Praise, Crown Him with Many Crowns, The Lion of Judah, To God be the Glory, Give Thanks, Thou are Worthy, Praise God's name, Fervent Prayer, Glory to Thy Name, Nothing but the Blood of Jesus, Standing on the Promises of Christ my Savior. 7. 1.Summarize the lessons of this chapter. The lessons of this chapter are to teach us that there will be stumbling blocks for Christians to overcome; and that we can overcome because Christ has overcome (John 16:22). We are not to compromise God
  8. Q4. Why are so many churches a "hotbed of apathy"? In Matt. 24:12, lawless will abound and the love of many will grow cold. We have become a church whose love has grown cold. A church who cares about itself and the building up of our kingdom; not Christ
  9. Q3. Why do you think the religious compromise required by participating in heathen religious practices in the trade guilds was so spiritually destructive? They allowed their selves to be tempted by a Jezebel doctrine and or spirit. This doctrine caused Christians to have a stumbling block in front of them and they began to compromise and when we compromise God
  10. 1. Why would loosening of sexual standards to conform to the prevailing morals of the culture be destructive of vital Christian faith and witness? If you loosen the standards God has in place for his Church you would be compromising God
  11. Q1. How can a local congregation lose its "first love" for Jesus? What are the signs of genuine love for Jesus in worship and ministry? How does the lack of love show up? How can a congregation regain this love? a. The local congregation loses its first love by turning inward. It becomes a holy huddle. By this I mean it takes its focus off the love of Jesus and becomes more focused on numbers and programs, activities and inward meetings . b. The signs of genuine love for Jesus are love for others is without prejudice of race, or education. It is an attitude of total love for Jesus and wanting to share that love with others. You can not out give the Lord. What is freely given to you must be freely given to others. If you are giving with resentment or anger then you are not giving as the Lord wants. He wants cheerful givers. c. Lack of love shows up, by putting programs in front of people and by getting lost in wanting to build your empire instead of Gods, at the expense of others. It even goes as far as sheep stealing to build it self up. d. For a congregation can regain its first love we need to let God do the leading as we practice the Great Commission and then focus on building others up. It is important to take care of those God entrusts you with. That
  12. Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? (1:12-20) What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? a. The significance of Jesus walking among the lampstands is to show us that He lives, He is all powerful and He has claimed the Church for His own. He is the first, and the last. The hope and salvation, the Ancient of Days. b. He has conquered dearth and is willing to share what He has with us.
  13. Q4. The vision of Christ among the lampstands (1:12-20) is much different than the Carpenter-Teacher who walked the roads of Galilee and Judea. Why? What overall emotions is this vision of Jesus among the lampstands designed to evoke in the reader? Why is this understanding of Jesus important to a balanced faith? a. The Carpenter-Teacher who walked the roads of Galilee and Judea was a human being, The vision of Christ among the lampstands is a Christ that has been glorified. b. Because of Jesus' resurrection He has now authority over the Kingdom He is pure, powerful and awesome. He is the Almighty, the first and the last and He lives.
  14. Q3. In what countries are Christians presently experiencing tribulation or persecution for the faith? How can the Book of Revelation be a comfort and encouragement to them? If Tribulation refers to the suffering which accompanies faithfulness to Christian principles, then this means all of us suffer some sort of persecution; even in the US. Although, we do not suffer as much as those in other countries such as the Middle east, Africa and the Muslim countries. And this extends to include the final period of intensified affliction which precedes the establishment of the Kingdom (Mounce) In 2 Tim. 3:12 we read,
  15. Q2. What does this tell us about the Father? The Father is the speaker here in 1:8 and in 21:6. But Jesus is the speaker in 1:17 and 22:12-13. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? a. That He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Begining and the End says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come. He is the Almighty! I am not clear on who was the speaker is in 1:8 & 21:6, but I am clear on the speaker in 1:17 & 22 12-13. and the significance of the Father and Son. b. They are both the Alpha and the Omega, they have always been, they are the sane yesterday, today and to come. They are eternal, and they are one, I am He!. God can not lie, therefore, there is only one God; both He and Jesus are the same, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. God the Father representing himself in different ways, but with the same power and might that has always been.
  16. Revelation is written to encourage and strengthen a church facing intense persecution. Why is the theme of testimony and witness so important to that purpose? 1. Testimonies are very encouraging because they confirm the hope that lives within us. They add color to a person's personal story bringing the littlest subject into the light and making it come alive; this helps me remember this life is only temporary and with that in mind I can go that one more mile, or even one more day for that matter. How is Jesus as the "faithful witness" (1:5) supposed to encourage us? 2. Jesus is God and God can not lie so Jesus encourages us by telling us and showing us that He is the beganing and the end, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Jesus, once lived, died, and was ressurected, He now lives and will regin again on this earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is very encouraging to know that He is in charge.. Why are we afraid to be clear witnesses in a culture where we aren't persecuted? 3. People have a fear of not fitting in or not having the right answer to satisfy someones question. I am learning become all things to all people without sinning (a hard task) that way they tend to listen to me better and I am continuing to grow in His knowledge, so I can have an answer that they might connect with.
