4a)Tithing was family tradition, but now he is fully committed himself personally now to give 10th of all he has received.

B)Jacob is offering tithe as an act of stating the faith he now has in God that he will supply his every need, that he is totally submitting to the Lord as his king & GoD.,

c)Tithing demonstrates our allegiance, our love and our discipleship to serve God rather than money. It is a response to God & in recognition that God will meet all his needs. Conversion is giving up all ones life,in submissionto follow Christ, knowing that as we trust him, he will guide us,look after us, never leave us as we put our trust in His hands to live our lives for him. Tithing is a natural act that follows.,

Jacob’s promised to tithe indicates that he realizes that everything has come from God and that he is willing to give back only 1/10th of it. He is dependent on God and realizes that this is one way of showing his commitment.

This incident at Bethel is a conversion experience for him because he got to see God’s angel and he realized that because of that God was watching after him personally.

The relationship between tithing and conversion is that we have accepted that everything is God’s and that we are only returning 1/10th of what He has given us. This helps us to put God first and not money.

Q4. (Genesis 28:22) What does Jacobs promise to tithe indicate about his commitment? Presumably, Jacob has been a believer in Yahweh all his life. In what sense is this incident at Bethel a conversion experience for him? What is the relationship of tithing to conversion?

Jacob was now saying that Yahweh was his God and he understood that everything he had was because of the Lord. I think he finally had a true understanding of what his father and grandfather may have said all his life.

Q4. (Genesis 28:22)

What does Jacob's promise to tithe indicate about his commitment?

Presumably, Jacob has been a believer in Yahweh all his life. In what sense is this incident at Bethel a conversion experience for him?

What is the relationship of tithing to conversion?

I believe that Jacob's promise to tithe was his way of commitment to give back to God, as his King, part of what God had honored him with.

The text puts it as follows  :   Jacob's vow to tithe all that God gives him is both a statement of faith that God will meet his needs, and a vow of loyalty and submission to the Lord as his King and God.

Tithing for the Christian represents something similar. We see ourselves as stewards of what actually belongs to God. And the tithe of our income is a way of demonstrating our allegiance, our love, and that we serve God rather than money (Matthew 6:24).

Tithing is about discipleship. It is an indicator to us that we trust God and have committed our lives to Him.

He has supplied our needs

We tithe in thankfulness for what He has supplied (using a tenth of it) and having faith that He will continue to supply our needs.
