Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are "fatherly" roles so important to making disciples?

These too sound like the "FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT".

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

To adopt these traits in our lives we must be willing to walk worthy of God, so that others will be encouraged as we walk what we talk allowing love to flow out to others, a walk worthy of God.

Why are "fatherly" roles so important to making disciples?

A father will help you on the right way with far more determination than a woman, fathers will correct with strong guidence. A good father is somebody that children wants to follow and who children respects. this is what we have to stive to be for everybody we lead to Christ.

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Just as easily as men with mothers, we can do all things through Christ, we have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to do God's work

The fatherly role encourages the ones being discipled, giving them a role model.

The women can pick up these traits by striivng to live a life that reflects Jesus--one who is blameless. Praying to God to help us & to mold us into disciplers is of utmost importance, since it is the Holy Spirit we need to help us.

Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples?

Fatherly roles and motherly roles in discipling are equally important and together reflect God's charge to Christian parents to raise up (disciple) children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord. The fatherly roles in disclipling others, complements and completes what Paul said in verses 2:6b-8 about motherly roles. We are all God's children and His love is complete and perfect, encompassing both roles in our lives.

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

I think that they can be very effective, especially as they understand the importance of this role. To seek through prayer, for discernment and knowledge and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. God will give us what we need when we need it, as we seek Him and acknowledge Him.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

“Fatherly” roles are important to making disciples because they are the figure that represents the Heavenly Father and the role that they are to demonstrate should reveal the character of Father God. God provides all that we need to grow and mature to be strong Christians and male disciplers must possess the qualities that will move babes in Christ to become matured witnesses. Like men, women can also move babes in Christ to become matured Christians as they themself taken on the character of Father God.

Good Fathers help children have the right goals and help them all the way to reach their goals. All along they encourage and provide for the child to bring out the best in them. In a good father a child can always see the love of the heavenly father and the child always have the confidence that a good father will always be there for them. That is why believers should have these qualities to making disciples and leading them to God.

Everyone including females can effectively adopt these qualities by prayer and when filled with the Holy Spirit.

When I think of the word Father it reminds me of my God the Father, who has lavished his love upon me by sending his son Jesus to die for me. How great is my Father who loves me.

I think of my earthly Father who passed away in 2007. I had a wonderful Father, and what I am today is all because of his love for me.

In the same way we need Fatherly roles in making disciples because He is there with love, care , support, encouragement, provision and everything you need to grow into a mature person in Jesus Christ. When we are lost, we can run to him for support and guidance.

Women have the nature in them to love and care, and can adopt these fatherly traits by prayer and help of the Holy spirit.

Why are "fatherly" roles so important to making disciples?

They are important simply because they are needed. As someone is being developed there will always be opposition, obstacles and challenges, therefore encouraging, comforting and urging according to God's leading is needed so that the individual may earnestly live lives worthy of God, who calls you into His kingdom and glory.

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

I think women can adopt these traits, not only can they but they have. There isn't a mention of Timothy's father, Pual speaks of his mother and grandmother. Regardless if his father was present or not the fact that the women are mentioned gives the impression that they were influential. The bottom line be it a woman or a man, either in the capacity of exhorting and encouraging and charging someone in Christ should adhere to the Holy Spirit's counsel.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

What is the role of the Word of God in moulding disciples' lives?

Does it have a power of its own?

How does that seem to operate?

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The Word of God is the means by which people are born again; for without the Word no one would know that salvation was available or even know the way of salvation. This is seen in Romans 10:14, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? As the disciples hear or read the Word they become convicted of their sins and come to realise that only through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can they ever be saved. It has a further vital role in moulding the lives of disciples, even completely transforming their lives. The effectiveness of the gospel is seen as believers become imitators of Christ. Jesus Himself told us in Matthew 4:4, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” So we see that our spiritual life is maintained by the daily nourishment with the Word of God. It is the Holy Spirit that empowers the disciples to persevere and continue to be Christians throughout their lives.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

Why are "fatherly" roles so important to making disciples?

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Here we find Paul instead of being a burden to the church, he had been like a father to them by both example and by his teachings. The fatherly role involves not only setting a consistent example but also encouraging, comforting, and exhorting the disciples. Urging them to live a life worthy of God and His kingdom. The same can be said for mothers as they are an indispensable part of the parental team. Mothers are also needed in the mental and moral upbringing of children. The leaders and teachers of a church need to be balanced. They must not only be compassionate and caring as spiritual mothers, but they also need to set examples and live pure and exemplary lives as spiritual fathers – which set standards for others to follow.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Fatherly roles are important because they bring strength and guidance into our lives. Where women tend to comfort and serve, men tend to have more strength in correction and guidance, hopefully in love. Men are problem solvers who look to bring truth into a difficult situation where sin is bringing chaos. We can benefit greatly by listening to those men in our lives who truly do have truth in love to guide us with.

Just as men can benefit from learning from women's strengths in mercy, compassion, kindness and gentleness, women can become more balanced in strength of truth, speaking truth in love and guiding others into that truth. Both though, need to LIVE that truth in love to be effective in true discipleship.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples?

Father's provide leadership, strength, stimulation and example in how to follow Christ, among other fine qualities. Their superior strength lends itself to calm reassurance.

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Just as we discussed yesterday in how men can adopt the "softer" side of discipleship, women can be strong, and guide and correct in their own way.

One of God's names is El Shaddai, "the many breasted One"....He is the perfect parent, without gender, and if one is willing, He can work through us in whichever way is needed in a moment's time with male firmness and strength or feminine tenderness and compassion.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Fatherly roles are important because they are the pushers, the cheerleaders and the standard setters. Disciples need all of these qualities within their ministry. Why would women want to adopt any of these traits? We have qualities of our own that are necessary in the church community

Why are "fatherly" so important to make good Disciples? It is only by being the right role that others watch and the best is the father, for some reason they are trusted and this can be just as much bad as good. Make sure the Father role that is being followed meets the requirements for such a trusted position. The women's role as a disciple is just as important as the man when it comes to discipleship, no greater role can be than that of a father are mother discipleship role as long as the right requirements are met. God Bless, Brother Mike

“Fatherly” roles are important to making disciples; because we will strive to help others to be the very best they can be for the Lord. They do this by Exhorting, Encouraging or comforting, and Urging or pleading.

The purpose of these behaviors is to mold men and women into followers of Jesus Christ, and to teach them to live Christ like lives by reflecting God’s values.

How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Women can effectively adopt these traits when they are persevering to be like Christ, and to live holy lives before God and man.

All of God’s children or disciples should have these traits in their lives.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

Disciples, men and women are followers of Jesus. They have responded with their whole being to the call of Jesus to follow Him and become "fishers of people". You are called to God's own Kingdom and Glory, it is a priviledge. Disciples are Christian Leaders and have responded to two commands of Christ "Follow Me" and "Feed My Sheep" and they reach out to lead others to the life of grace.

Q4. Fatherly roles are important in displaying godly examples for others to follow. Paul in the Bible imitated Christ and encouraged the Corinthians to follow him as he followed Christ, 1 Cor. 11:1. They are important for encouraging prayer and the study of God's Word. So, it's important for those discipled to have godly examples because one day they will be discipling others.

I think women innately possess the traits necessary for developing godly disciples. Therefore it would not be difficult for those traits to be manifest.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are “fatherly” roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

In 1 Thess. 2:7, Paul compares himself to a nuturing mother. Now he changes his image to that of a devoted father. If the former suggests tenderness and affection, then this image would suggest wisdom and counsel. As a father, he exhorted them to live a holy life, he encouraged them to go on for the Lord in spite of persecutions and he testified to the blessedness of obedience to the will and word of God. The fatherly role is action oriented.

Both gender traits/roles in developing children or disciples balance each other and form a complete environment in which development can occur.

There is nothing complicated about the application of gender nuturing traits. As with males adopting motherly nuturing traits, females just apply the traits. Pray, learn, think outside of your box, and apply.

Q4. (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12) Why are "fatherly" roles so important to making disciples? How effectively do you think women can adopt these traits?

These roles are just as important as the nurturing qualities, because it helps in developing disciples, leaders that God calls for His work one worthy of the walk.

It is very effective for woman to adopt these traits if they are to become Christ like.
