  1. Q6. (Luke 9:35) Since Jesus is God's Chosen One, what does it mean to "listen to him"? It basically means to listen to God since Jesus is God's chosen One and also part of the Trinity so Jesus is God In what ways does your life reflect listening to him? I am but a toddler in the faith, I am still learning to listen to Him, learning to hear His voice. In what ways do you need to heed him more explicitly? I need to remember to bring all things to Him, I keep on forgetting to ask Him first.
  2. Q5. Where did the title "Branch" come from? How does the imagery differ from the title "Root"? The root is the source for the plants growth and nourishment like Jesus should be our root. The branch, I think, refers to Jesus' family tree.
  3. What is the meaning of the words "Christ" and "Messiah? Christ is Greek for Anointed One, translated from Hebrew as Messiah. How does the Davidic Covenant influence messianic expectation in Jesus' day? The Jews thought that the Messiah was going to liberate them from the Romans, but God's plan was so much bigger and better.
  4. Q4. (1 Timothy 2:5-6; 1 John 2:1) In what sense is Jesus our “one Mediator between God and man”? Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life, no-one comes to the Father except through Me. He Himself clearly states that He is the only Mediator. What happens to this personal relationship with Jesus when we ask a minister or a saint to intercede for us? It is like one person asking another to speak to a Third who will talk to God. That is not a personal relationship and not what God desires as He wants us to know Him personally How is Jesus our Advocate before the Father? He is familiar with our struggles and pleads our case before God the Father continuously, therefore our advocate. In what ways are you an advocate for the powerless in your community? Well you can stand up for them by voicing their dilemma. How do you function as a reconciler, a mediator, a peacemaker as you serve Christ? The more you get closer to God, the more you learn to be like Jesus, and Jesus are all these things.
  5. Q2. (Daniel 7:13-14) Since Jesus is the Son of Man in Daniel's prophecy, what implications does that have for your obedience, your worship, your estimation of Jesus' power and glory? The implication is that Jesus is God and took mans appearance to pay for our sins. He should be obeyed and worshipped for His is all the power and the glory. Praise His name for ever and ever.
  6. Q1. (Daniel 7:13-14) What attributes does the "one like a son of man" have in Daniel's prophecy? I think that Daniel used the term Son of Man to explain to his readers that He looked like a man where all the others in his vision was heavenly entities because he says "one like a". "Coming with the clouds of heaven" would indicate that He is from heavenly origin as mentioned. He "approached the Ancient of Days"(God). In my understanding no-one can approach God so this will indicate that He is special, favoured. In what ways does this personage possess divine elements? As mentioned above He is special, divine so He can approach God. What authority does he have? He has all authority, glory and sovereign power over everyone on earth How do we know that Jesus identified himself with this Son of Man in Daniel? He mentions that title at different times Himself. He does refer to Himself as the Son of Man.
  7. Q4. (John 4:16; 1 Corinthians 1:24) How does Jesus' truth contrast with your culture's dearly held "truths"? It is totally opposite. Jesus' truth - Love the lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strenght. And love your neighbours as yourself. The culture's truth - Love self at all costs How does Jesus' wisdom differ from the worldly wisdom that your culture teaches you? It differes totally. Jesus' wisdom stayed true and the same through all the ages. The worldly wisdom - very difficult to keep up with. Oh and then you have book wisdom or street wisdom???? What would help you hold on to Jesus' truth and wisdom more effectively? Learning more and more about Him and allowing Him to change us as He intended us to be.
  8. Q3. (Revelation 3:14) Why is Jesus called the “true and faithful witness”? It is a strange question as Jesus is part of the Trinity and therefore God Himself. There can in my opinion be no better witness. What did he witness to? Jesus witnessed about God. How was he faithful in his witness? Jesus faithfully witnessed and admonished whenever it was needed without regards to other peoples opinions and His own safety. He actually exibited with this the type of trust we should have in Him. The same kind of trust He had in His Father's timing. As a disciple, to what degree are you a “true and faithful witness” to the Word that your Rabbi has taught and has done in your life? I have witnessed to as many people as God put in my path to witness to. It is quiet now and I have no one to tell my story to at the moment, I just have to trust Him that He will use my trials that I have gone through for His glory in His time. What would it look like if you improved as a witness? I guess I would be more effective and reach more people for Him. I can't really say what it would look like as I am not a preacher and I am not eloquent. Also I find it difficult sometimes to speak about it as I have to be in a solid frame of mind to be able to talk about it and not cry. So I really do not know, only God knows.
  9. In what sense is Jesus the Word of God? Why do you think he is called this? Why does John call him the Word of Life (1 John 1:1)? What does this say to us about the importance of hearing, meditating on, and internalizing Jesus’ words? Jesus is the Word of God because He is the mouthpiece, the teacher, sent by God to teach us what God expects from us. To tell us how God wants us to live. To give us God's promises. John calls Him the Word of Life because: 1. Through His words He brought people back to life. 2. He is "the way, the truth and the life" as He Himself said 3. Only through Him can we have everlasting life It is extremely important to hear, meditate and internalize Jesus' words as they are the words of God, they are our blueprints for life. They are the difference between life and death everlasting.
  10. Q1. What is your relationship to Jesus as your Rabbi? How often do you come to him to teach you? How do you receive his teaching? How teachable do you think you are? Jesus is my teacher, thank fully He is a very patient teacher. I am slow to learn but He does not lose patience and I have found that the process of learning is continual. I will have a question, and then get answers bit by bit when I am driving or hanging washing. These answers are always a revelation and causes excitement. I do not go to Jesus to teach me, I have conversations with Him the whole day, asking questions. Always these conversations are one sided but I know He hears me and I do get answers when He knows I will hear Him. Sometimes He will lead me to a book that explains things in a way I can understand and sometimes I get answers through courses like these. He is the most amazing teacher and I love Him to bits.
  11. Q4. How did Jesus' disciples use His name when they healed and cast out demons? They did cast out demons working through the name of Jesus, by the authority of Jesus' name. Do we have this kind of authority, or was it only for the apostles themselves? Yes. we do still have this authority. In what way does speaking or acting in Jesus' name demonstrate the concept of power of attorney? Jesus said that if we call on His Name He will answer. He left us His name therefore giving us the permission to use it for the glory of His name. Why are we sometimes afraid to speak or act in Jesus' name? Fear .... that is the only reason. Fear of ridicule, rejection, being labelled, being cast out, being victimized. Which is actually very silly of us as the only approval we should crave is our heavenly Father's. Sometimes we also do not believe, truly believe that we have the authority. We tend to think that this was the bibles era that this was for and not for us. Another fear is of not being answered, what if what you ask for is not within God's will as it is perhaps the time for that person to move on. God knows their circumstances way better than you could ever know it. Then if that person, say dies, you lose a soul for Christ as the family decides that God does not really care. I can witness to the power of Jesus' name. I have experienced it personally but I am very careful to pray for specific things, I would rather ask for God to bless that person in the name of Jesus with what He wills for that person. How might hearing His voice about a particular matter alleviate that fear? There would be no fear.
  12. Q. What does it mean when you pray "in Jesus' name"? We with our sin can never approach the throne of God, that is why we pray "in Jesus' name". God will only hear our requests if we ask through His Son. Q. Do you use the phrase "in Jesus' name" as you pray and why? After I learned about this(above) I always use this phrase as I pray. He is the Almighty God and if this is what He requires, then so be it. Q. How does praying "in Jesus' name" limit what we will pray for? We do not ask for silly worldly things anymore.
  13. Q2 In what ways does taking Jesus' name on ourselves, or identifying ourselves with Him, open us to shame and persecution? I am blessed to live in a country where Christians are not persecuted. I do know that persecution takes many forms, but I have just found that people do not want to talk about religion. They acknowledge that you are Christian and they might even say that they themselves are also, but let's not talk about it. Have you seen examples of this In your own experience? I have found that the majority of people just do not like me as soon as they find out I am not going to gossip, slander, drink myself into another dimension etc. I am therefore not the preffered guest anywhere so far. I have also found that whenever someone is not in a good mood of my own family, they will make derogotary statements about "my religion" What actions might show that a Christian is ashamed of Jesus? I think that this person is someone who does not talk about Jesus to others and someone who lives of the world. They are Christians on Sundays and the rest of the week you would not know they go to church. What actions might show that a Christian is unashamed of Jesus? Living to please God and not people. Showing compassion and being unafraid to share the gospel of Jesus with every and anyone.
  14. Jesus's name I understand to be is Yahweh saves. His mission was to come and reconcile us with God so that we can be saved from our sins and eternal damnation, death everlasting. This reconciliation I think encompasses everything. He taught, He healed and He came to set an example for us. He saved me, and I love Him for it.
