  1. Q1. (Mark 1:33-39) What pattern do you see emerging in Jesus' prayer life? Jesus would rise early in the morning before day, and to find a solitary place to pray. In other words.. Why do you think he spends Quiet Time with the Father before the day begins? Quiet time was spent with the Father before the day began, to listen to His Father and to demonstrate to his disciples what to emulate. How does this prepare him for his ministry? Jesus uses his time in prayer with his Father to know what he is doing; afterward, so he could minister in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Why does Jesus minster through the power of the Spirit instead of in his own power? Jesus said that “the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” (John 5:19)
  2. Q4. (1 Peter 4:10-11) If people are always promoting themselves and pointing to how God is using them, what does that say about them? It says, they are being prideful, (Proverb 16:18 “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall”) promoting themselves instead of the one giving the gift. Wanting and needing to be seen by man. About their sense of self-worth? It’s possible that a person that talks about themselves could me seeking help or, learning how to grow in Christ. Pete gave this warning, “14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 1 Peter 1:14-15 (NKJV) About their maturity? It’s definite a sign a lack of immaturity and a need to grow in Grace and the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, when we submit to God and resist Satan, he will flee from us. James 4:7 Their realism? It says their practice possibly in the pass is in need of adjustment with the following: “2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:-2 (NKJV) Their humility? There is a need to have a lower view of one’s own importance. What spiritual gifts has God given you, and how are you using them to his glory? I believe I have several gifts that function in. Teaching, speaking in tongues, service, singing, praying for the sick .I serve on the alter call ministry
  3. Q3. (1 Corinthians 12:11) What are lessons do you learn from verse 11? All spiritual gifts are given by the same Spirit. Spiritual gifts cannot be earned, merited, or work for. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in spiritual gifts? The Holy Spirit role is to:, gives at least one gift to every person and distributes the gifts according to his own will and plan; also, the role is to empower the gift or gifts to operate as needed in the body according to his plan ,
  4. Q2. (1 Corinthians 12:9) In the twentieth century we saw the evangelistic power of preaching combined with healing the sick. Where in Jesus' ministry do you see this combination? We see the combination of Jesus healing the sick in Mark 9:25-28; Matthew 9:35 Where in Paul's ministry? Like wise, we see this combination of healing the sick in Acts 20:10-11 and Acts 14: 6-66 In Peter's ministry? we find this combination of healing the sick in Peter's ministry i Acts 9:34 and Acts 5:15 In Philip's ministry? This same combination of healing the sick in Phillip's ministry is found in Acts 8:4-8
  5. Q1. Is it legitimate to use Jesus as our example in the use of spiritual gifts? I believe it is legitimate to use Jesus as our example in the use of spiritual gifts. Or was he so different than we are that we can't pattern our ministry after his example? Jesus was God in the flesh. We have a high priest that identify with us, Hebrew 4:15. While on earth, He demonstrated examples and patterns for us to follow. He models also, spiritual gifts to mankind while on earth. Where do you see the gift of knowledge in the Old Testament? In the New Testament? In the Old Testament, 2 Kings 5, this gift was manifested in the life of Elisha, as God would give him supernatural knowledge of various things. In the New Testament the gift of knowledge is noted in John 4: 17-18 Jesus ministry when he encounter the woman at the well.
  6. Q4. (Ephesians 4:11) How could a person have the spiritual gift of pastor or teacher without having an official position in a church? The spiritual gift of pastor or teacher doesn’t depend on your title but on caring for spiritual needs of a group of people. What must a church do if its "senior pastor" doesn't have the spiritual gift of pastor? If the “senior pastor” doesn’t have the spiritual gift of pastor, then, those that have the pastoral gift to lead, the Holy Spirit will qualify those, to meet the need of the church Who gives these gifts? All gifts are given by God and energized by the Holy Spirit to build up the Kingdom for God’s for His purpose.
  7. Q3. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22; 1 Corinthians 14) How would you define the gift of prophecy? I would define prophecy as a spiritual gift that brings forth divine revelation, to build up, edify and bring comfort to the body of Christ. Why do churches sometimes despise or prohibit prophecy? some prohibit prophecy because they are cessationist and others may be due to their lack of knowledge of this gift What guidelines does Paul give here and in 1 Corinthians 14 to keep prophecy in a congregation healthy? The guidelines Paul gives are found in 1 Corinthians 14:29-33 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent.31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints
  8. Q2. (Ephesians 4:11a) Do you think there are modern-day apostles? Yes, I do, I am a continuationism. If so, who might they be? They are those sent and those with spiritual gifts similar to those in the early church but not the qualification. If you don't believe there are modern-day apostles, identify some people who are doing some of the same things that the early apostles did. Creflo Dollar, Winnie Hampton, R.A. Verner and Joyce Meyer
  9. Q2. (Romans 8:1-9; Isaiah 26:3) What does it mean to "set the mind on the things of the flesh"? Setting our mind on the things of the flesh, mean choosing to set our mind on our sinful nature rather than the Holy Spirit. If have our mind on our sinful nature we cannot please God. What is involved in "setting the mind on the things of the Spirit"? It involves having the Holy Spirit dwelling within us; therefore, we are not control by the flesh. What does it mean to have your mind "stayed" on Jesus? The scripture tells us, “that is a promise for all men of all ages who meet the condition of keeping the mind stayed on God, and who trust in Him at all times, in all things, and in all places (ps.91)”. How much of this requires will-power? When we keep our mind on Jesus, His power transforms us. How much does the Spirit assist us? When we keep our mind on the Holy Spirit, the Spirit frees us from the power of our sinful naturel Can this become a habit as we practice it? Definite
  10. Q2. (Romans 8:1-9; Isaiah 26: 3) What does it mean to “set the mind on the things of the flesh”? What is involved in “setting the mind on the things of the Spirit”? What does it mean to have your mind “Stayed” on Jesus? How much of this requires will-power? How much does the Spirit assist us? Can this become a habit as we practice it? 2a. To “set the mind on the things of the flesh” means, “Those living according to the flesh, set their minds on the things of the flesh” vs. 5a. 2b. What’s involved in “setting the mind on the things of the Spirit” is how one live. The person according to 5b. “but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit” 2c. To have your mind “stayed” on Jesus involves our will, thought, and our emotion. It also involves a daily: reading & studying God’s Words, being prayerful and staying connected by walking in the Spirit. The promise is for mankind who meet the condition of keeping the mind stayed on God, at all times and in all thing and in all places according to Isaiah 26:3 2d. It does require will- power, but most of all, it requires the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. 2e. The Holy Spirit is essential to connecting us to Christ. If we don’t have the Spirit of Christ we don’t belong to him. This can become a habit as we practice walking in the Spirit.
  11. Q1. (Romans 7: 7-25) What does Paul means by “the sinful nature” or “the flesh” (ESV, KJV)? Is this ever eradicated? Can there be victory over temptation? Q1a. Paul is referring to our corrupt human nature that’s dominated by our sin and rebellion against God. It was our unregenerate spirit apart from God that seek to live and be right in his own eye apart from God. In our sinful nature we were the epitome of Ephesians 2:1-3. Q1b. The law bought forth sin, but through Christ came the Holy Spirit. Paul tell us that "the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death" It's the Holy Spirit that change me so I can have victory over sin. Q1c. Yes, there can be victory over temptation through, “law of the Spirit of Life set me free from the law of sin and death” (Roman 8:2). I also recall “ No temptation has overtaken except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

(Acts 10-11; Acts 19:1-7) The Holy Spirit comes upon new believers in both Caesarea and Ephesus accompanied by speaking in tongues (and prophecy and praise) like on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4). Does He always come like this initially? According to said scripture, He does not. What about the times when people are saved in the New Testament but tongues aren't mentioned? In the New Testament, the synoptic gospels supports Baptize with the Holy Spirit, Matthew 3:11;Mark 1:8 Luke 3:16; John 1:33), Clothe with power from on high Luke 29:49), Give (Luke 11:13; John 7:39;!4:17), Receive (John 7:39;20:22)and Send (John 14:26;15:23) Also, when Paul receive the Spirit in Acts 9:17-18, Samaria (Acts 8). No. Acts 19:1-7 these disciples believed and was baptized unto John’s baptism, baptism of repentance. they had not heard of the Holy Spirit until Paul filled them in on detail of Jesus’s death, bury, resurrection and ascension.
  13. Q3. (Acts 10-11; Acts 19:1-7) The Holy Spirit comes upon new believers in both Caesarea and Ephesus accompanied by speaking in tongues (and prophecy and praise) like on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4). On occasion such as Paul’s receiving the Spirit Acts 9:17-18,no mention of tongues here, Samaria is another (Acts 8 ) also Paul planted dozens of churches, yet not all mention that they spoke in tongue. he did no Are they filled with the Spirit also? No. Acts 19:1-7 these disciples believed and was baptized unto John’s baptism, baptism of repentance. they had not heard of the Holy Spirit until Paul filled them in on detail of Jesus’s death, burier, resurrection and ascension.
  14. Q2. (Acts 4:8, 31) What does it mean that Peter and the believers are "filled with the Holy Spirit" in these passages? It means they are totally influence by the spirit’s power enabled him to bear witness of Christ. Are they "re-filled"? Is it possible for a believer to have many "fillings" of the Holy Spirit? No. But, it’s possible for believer to have many “fillings” depending on the Holy Spirit power needs for witnessing through the individual. Why or why not? To remove fear and barrier to accomplish the outcome; that they may know the Power of the Holy Spirit and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  15. Q1. (Acts 2) What happened at Pentecost that was different than anything that had happened in previous history? The promise of the Holy spirit (Acts 1:8) descended and 120 pulse women received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the gift of speaking in tongues. Acts 2:4 What word analogies are used to describe this phenomenon? six different word analogies that seem to describe the same phenomenon: Baptize Come upon Filled, pour out, Receive a gift, Promise. Are these word analogies essentially used synonymously with others in Acts 2? Yes. What did the Jews from foreign lands hear and see? They hear the gospel in their own language How did Peter interpret what they heard and saw? (Acts 2:14-21) The fulfillment of Joel prophecy. " But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" (vs.16-18)…..
  16. Q4. (1 John 4:4) Why does John need to remind us that we have "overcome" the world? Is the potential power of the Holy Spirit within you less than the power in the Apostle Paul. What might be the factors that seem to limit our sense of power? 1. John like most teacher wanted to make sure that we know that we have the full power of the trinity dwelling in us. And the proof is the evident of the Holy Spirit 2. The power of the Holy Spirit within me is the same as in the Apostle Paul. 3. A factors that might limit our sense of power is not understanding how to exercise the gifts or power within us.
  17. Q3. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) What does the Holy Spirit as a "seal of ownership" teach us? The Holy Spirit, that created us, that found us, and anointed us has sealed us with the seal of ownership and a down payment of what’s to come. What does the Spirit as a "down payment" teach us? It teaches us to expect what’s to come. The Holy Spirit is our deposit. When is the full payment made in this analogy? That a payment that obligates the contracting party to make further payment will be made when Christ come and we will see Him face- to – face (Revelation 22:4) What does the Spirit as an "anointing" teach us? God “anoints” the believer: “the word means to be consecrated and qualified for service”
  18. Q2. (1 Corinthians 2:10-16) What are the implications of having access through the Spirit to the "mind of Christ"? Our human spirit connects with the spirit oh God and this help us to know the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:10-16) How does this Holy Spirit connection explain spiritual gifts such as prophecy, teaching, healing, etc.? The Holy Spirit connection explain the spiritual gifts, there are many spiritual gifts given by the same spirit. 1 Corinthian 12:4-11 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
  19. Q1. (Romans 8:9-11; John 14:23) Do people who aren't Christians have Christ living within them? No "And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." (Romans 8:9b) In what Person do Christ and the Father make their home in us? Both the Father and Christ dwell in the believer in the person of the Holy Spirit John 14:16-17.26) What should you do to make them feel "at home" in you? " will obey my teaching. " (John 14:23) In addition: feeding our mind with His word, prayer, giving praise through singing songs, hymns and spiritual songs. How is the Home Analogy like the Temple Analogy? How might it differ? My body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and my body also is my House, where the Holy Spirit dwells He controls by action instead of the flesh. They do not differ. “The Holy Spirit now is in control of our sinful nature. How does the Spirit living within you affect your holiness of life? Your witness to others? Your spiritual power? The Holy Spirit living within me affect s my daily life. Through witness to others, teaching, preaching, visiting the sick, encouragement of faith to others to Christ Jesus who have the power to heal, deliver and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. My spiritual power are the gifts given to me to use to draw others to Christ.
  20. Q4. (John 3:8) What does Jesus' reference to "the wind" teach us about people who have been born of the Spirit? It teaches us that the wind is the breath of God, or the spirit of God, when you have been born of the Spirit, Jesus is saying we are motivated and moved by an unseen powerful forced beyond our self. The Spirit works just like the wind, we don’t know how the wind works, but we can see and feel the effect of His power.
  21. Q3. (John 3:5-7) What does it mean to be "born of water and the Spirit"? To be born of the water and spirit means one can enter the kingdom of God. What do you think "water" refers to? Water is a reference to the natural birth. Water refer to John the Baptist ministry, the repentance for the forgiveness of sin and purification. Why have you come to this conclusion? Because the natural birth comes first through water, the second birth by the Holy Spirit. The second birth of the water and spirit is essential to enter the kingdom of God How, then, would you paraphrase "born of water and the Spirit" to best bring out the full meaning? I believe Jesus is saying to Nicodemus, just as water was used symbolically in the Old Testament to bring spiritual renewal and cleansing (Num. 19:17-19; Isa. 4;4) You must be "born of water and spirit" by the Holy Spirit for repentance and by humbling himself before God.
  22. Q2. (John 3:1-8) When Nicodemus came to Jesus, do you think he was already born of the Spirit? No. The Holy Spirit had not yet come because Jesus was still with His disciple. The Holy Spirit came after Jesus, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. What is the difference between people who have experienced the second birth, and those who have only experienced the first birth? The the first birth is fleshly, ""condemn to death, in need of a sin barer and separated from the creator." "The second birth is spiritual, experience the baptizing of the water and the Holy Spirit. They experience, repentant, a change from death to life, salvation, and now able to enter the kingdom of God and have eternal life". (quotes from my 2018 answer)
  23. Q1. (John 7:37-39) In Jesus' teaching on streams of living water from within, whom does he invite to drink? Jesus invites anyone who is thirsty What does he promise to believers? He promises that “whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” To what degree has a spring of living water been fulfilled in your life? To feel the very present of the Holy Spirit over flowing within, is the best high a person could ever have. In other words, I have the promise of living water spoken of by Jesus.
  24. Q5. (John 16:12-15) In what sense does the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth? God’s word changes not. He is the same yesterday and forever. As he led the disciple so he will do the same for us today. The Holy Spirit lead and guide us into all truth, He will not speak on his own but what he hears and tell you of what is yet to come. Does this promise apply only to the apostolic age and its task of laying the foundations of the faith? In what sense does it apply to us today? No. The foundation of faith has already been laid,so, just as Jesus spoke to his disciple of what his father was saying, so the Holy Spirit will remind present day disciples of what Jesus said.
  25. Q4. (John 16:5-7; 14:12) What benefit is there to the disciples that Jesus goes away? They would be filled with the Holy Spirit, the counselor. What promise do we have in John 14:12 concerning the Spirit's power in believers? "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12)
