  1. Q1. (2 Corinthians 4:4; Psalm 24:1) What is the difference between legitimate authority and usurped authority? Legitimate authority (is what God grants), come from God according to “The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods”. Psalm 24:1. But usurped authority is a counterfeiter, “to seize and hold in possession by force or without right.” 2 Corinthian 4:4 refers to the god of this world that is blinding the minds of people…lest the light of the gospel of Christ…should shine unto them. Which kind of authority does Satan have? usurped How can Satan be defeated at the cross (Colossians 2:14-15), but still be dangerous (John 10:10a, 44; 1 Peter 5:8-9)? Please note; could not find John 10:44 Not can be defeated, but already is defeated because Jesus has paid the penalty for our sin. scripture tells us that Christ spoiled principalities and power, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. However. We know that he is a thief, here to steal, kill and destroy.
  2. Q4. (2 Corinthians 1:8-9; Ephesians 6:18-20) What portion of Paul's "overwhelming pressure" was due to spiritual warfare, do you think? Paul’s “overwhelming pressure” in the scripture seem to point to spiritual warfare. Satan will fight back when the Gospel goes forth and soul are turning away from him. How much can be attributed to the "normal" struggles of life? In the case of Paul, I believe there were some “normal” life struggles” but mostly, it’s due to his call. Paul ‘s life consisted of what Christ said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” Luke 9:23-24) Why is intercessory prayer for leaders and for one another so important? Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,1Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV) We are also told to pray for our leaders The why: Jesus tells us “ Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." Matthew 18:19-20 (NKJV)
  3. Q3. (Acts 19:11-19) Why do so many contemporary churches expect to evangelize effectively in the 21st century without signs and wonders? Some Contemporary churches today seem to care more about the numbers and how to keep the church functioning. However, others welcome signs and wonder when faith and the power of the Holy Spirit is manifested. What are we afraid of? That we don’t have the spiritual gift or authority needed, and fear of challenges or wonder is it desire, instead of God’s power. How do we identify people in our congregations whom God has gifted with ministries of healing, faith, and miracles? We identify these people by their boldness and action What will it take to move in this direction for you? I have no problem; I serve on the pray and anointing team at the church I attend. The pastor totally believes in healing and spiritual gift, in fact, we are in a year study on spiritual gift so others will understand what the scripture say. For your church? presently active.
  4. Q2. (Acts 19:9-10) How did "all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia" hear God's word from one apostle, who taught daily in Ephesus and didn't travel around. What do you think was going on that caused this kind of expansion? They heard it through Paul’s faithful teaching in Tyrannus lecture hall for two years. Paul used the time of their culture; their activity was early morning and rest from” eleven extending into far into afternoon.” Paul used this time to spread God’s Word. Those he taught spreading the message. God's word empowered by the Holy Spirit is an activator. Why is it vital to evangelize in our great cities? It is a mandate that we spread the gospel where we are, as we never know when hearts are open or if prevenient Grace is at work in a non-Christian life. Time is short and we must plant or water where we are believing God will give the increase.
  5. Q1. (1 Corinthians 1:11-12; 2:1; 3:3-6) What seems to be the primary difference between Paul's ministry approach and that of Apollos? The primary difference between Paul’s ministry approach and that of Apollos is that of style: Apollo is eloquent, he has great fervor and speaks boldly. He is persuasive; however, “he uses his gift to declare Jesus.” HE only knew about John’s baptism unto repentant therefore He only was aware of part of the good news. Paul's ministry was through revelation from God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Why does this create competing allegiances at Corinth? Apollo gift cause the early church to make comparison between the two, thus causing division. How does Paul address the issue? Paul first letter to the Corinthian church addresses this matter in 1 Corinthian 1:11-12; 3:3-6 . We are all servant and are assigned to specific task. Can you think of any divisions over style within the Christian community in your region? Yes. There are several denomination started due to splits of the church they came out of; often due to division from disagreement and jealousy. So often thinking they can do better., instead of supporting the Gospel of Christ Jesus and following His example. What should you do as a result of those divisions? we should teach God’s word and avoid making comparison as it is God that gives gift according to one’s ability.
  6. Q4. (1 Corinthians 15; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17) How important was belief in a bodily resurrection to the gospel that Paul taught? It’s very important because a bodily resurrection is the core teaching in the New Testament—both Christ’s resurrection and our own on the Last Day 1 Corinthian 15; 1 Thessalonian 4:4-17) Why is Christ's resurrection foundation to our faith? The foundation of Christ’s resurrection is foundation to our faith “either there is resurrection or there isn’t. if there isn’t, then the Christ hasn’t been raised. But since Christ has been raised, then there is resurrection for all.” “but Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Corinthians 15:20) What will happen when we die? When we die, we will be absent from our physical body and be presence with the Lord.2 Corinthians 5:8 When Christ comes? “ But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus”. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14; 17 “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” 17 (NKJV) "God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him...." (1 Thessalonians 4: 14b-16)
  7. Q3. (Acts 18:7) How important are the economics of house-churches and bi-vocational ministry in the rapid spread of the first century church? Very important, house churches were the primary way the church manifests itself at that time, and even now, there are many house churches today. I was one in a house church. Economically, it makes gathering the church feasible in nearly any situation.” And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue. Then Crisps, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.” Acts 18:7-8 (NKJV) What are the advantages of a house-church model? The over head is minimal. It’s cost effective. The group is smaller; therefore, God’s word is selective for the specific group. There appear to be a closer and relaxed atmosphere, more indebt study and accountability, and study is more interment and control. What are the weaknesses? Boundary line can get blurred, limited space, conflicts and difference. instructor not knowledgeable enough to teach. Leading babes in Christ astray.
  8. Q2. (Acts 18:3; 20:34-35; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-10; 1 Corinthians 4:12) Why does Paul earn his living by skilled labor rather than through offerings from the church? Several reasons are given for Paul earning his living by skill labor rather than through offering from the church. (a) to earn money to live and for other on his mission, (b) to set an example to people that preachers work hard and aren’t idle, (c) to set an example of giving and not coveting money, and (d) to gain a reward for preaching “free of charge” (1 Corinthians 9:16-18). Why do you think Christians believe that "full-time Christian ministry" is better than bi-vocational ministry? Full time Christian ministry is better as they can focus solely on their calling; it’s better in some ways on family. My husband initially was a bi-vocation pastor, he drove a gas truck, it paid well, but one day that truck caught on fire; it burned the gas station down and the truck up. He went to the church and ask them to find another pastor or call him full time; they did and he pastor that church for 40 years. What lessons did Paul teach the believers by his example of working for his living? The lesson Paul taught the believers by his example of working for one’s living first to be a model for them to follow and “if a man will not work, he shall not eat.”(2 Thessalonians 3: 6-10)
  9. Q1. (Acts 17:27-31; Romans 1:19-20; 2:14-15; Acts 4:12) How close is God to non-believers? According to scripture God work in non-believers through his Holy Spirit, for “he is not far from each one us”. Non- believers have a conscience to help them know right from wrong even if they have not heard the Gospel (Romans 2: 14-15) Is he working in them? I believe so. Since God shows forbearance for sins of non-believers, why do Christians act so judgmental? We are judgmental because we know time is short, we often see our self-lost and don’t want other to make the same mistake. How should we act? We should act as a disciple of Christ. Lead them to Christ, by scripture. beginning with that “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation Romans 10: 9:10,)” ( For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9) Is Faith in Jesus necessary for salvation? Yes.” Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 (NKJV
  10. Q4. (Romans 3:25; 5:6-8; 8:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Mark 10:45; 1 Peter 3:18a) What is the Substitutionary Atonement? The substitutionary Atonement is that when we were yet sinners, Christ died in our place as a sacrifice for our sins. How is this such good news? Because He did what no one else could do for the lost world, by dying for our sin, redeeming us by the blood of the Lamb, .(” There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,” Romans 8:1-3 (NKJV) How does it give us assurance in our struggles with sin? Because God gave his son to die for the sins of the world,John 3:16 . We may scuffle but it’s finish, “in the sin’s place we have His righteousness and the love of a Father for his redeemed children.”
  11. Q3. (1 Corinthians 1:18, 23-24; Romans 1:16; Acts 17:2-3) Why might Paul be tempted to underemphasize a "crucified Messiah" when preaching to the Jews? The Jews viewed the Messiah as one who would conqueror, one that would free them from foreign domination and bring them into the promised kingdom or God that reigned over by David’s victorious descendant. Some of the Jews could not accept this “Suffering, crucified Messiah with the one they wanted “Victorious Messiah.” Why are we sometimes tempted to tell others how great it is to follow Christ while not telling them the other aspects of the gospel? The gospel bought about salvation, but the cross bought about suffering for the cause of Christ. Why is it so important that we are honest about the gospel? Because “For it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jews first and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16
  12. Q2. (Acts 16:25; Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Why do you think we are commanded to "Rejoice always"? Because of salvation. Christ has paid the penalty for my sin, a debt impossible to pay. I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. God promises that He will take all the circumstances that attack us and work them out for good (Romans 8:28). In addition, He has given me eternal life, what a privilege to see, living face to face with Him and serving Him forever and ever. The believer who knows and keeps his mind upon these glorious facts can do nothing but rejoice.” What is our natural tendency when we're under stress? We fail to give praise when dealing with pain, distress and grief; our natural tendency often is to blame others for struggles we face from day to day. What does rejoicing and thanking have to do with faith? The scripture tells us that faith “is the substance of things hope for, the evident of things not seen.” Hebrew 11:1. We rejoice because the victory has already been won. When I'm giving praise with thanksgiving in my heart ,I can rejoice, because I can take my mind off of my circumstances and place it on the one who can bring me the peace I need, that' the Holy Spirit.. In what circumstance do you find difficulty praising God? When I am displeased with myself. I am thankful for these scriptures, they are helping me with my spiritual growth. "16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
  13. Q1. (Acts 16:1-3) Why does Paul circumcise Timothy, even though his principles don't require him to? While it is true Paul was not required to circumcise Timothy but the fact is, Timothy was an uncircumcised Jew and it would have limited Paul effectiveness in ministering to the Jewish Christians. Salvation is not the issue, but, being circumcised help Paul to have him on his apostolic team, thus, preventing “Jews from viewing Paul for supporting “apostasy.” Why does Paul "become all things to all people" (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)? In this scripture, Paul going along with the opinions and customs of others, does it mean he was compromising his convictions nor were he being two-faced. It means that he was getting next to men, to gaining their confidence and trust so they would pay attention to his witnessing for Christ. In what ways does the path of serving Jesus require humility rather than demanding our rights? If we are to draw souls to Christ, we must not only teach and preach the gospel, but follow his example. “The only humility that is really ours is not that which we try to show before God in prayer, but that which we carry with us in our daily conduct.” Andrew Murray “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” ― C.S. Lewis “ He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8 (NKJV)”
  14. Q4. (Ephesians 2:13-15; Galatians 6:16) In what sense are believers in the Messiah the "New Israel"? The Believers in a sense are in the Messiah the “New Israel” according to Ephesian 2:13-15 AND Galatian 6:16. This Israel of God is made up of the true Jews and they are those who accept this rule alone with the Gentile. “ but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.” Romans 2:29; 9:6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel. Man can come to Christ by way of the cross. Who makes believing Gentiles one with believing Jews? God the father, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit Who makes believing Protestants one with believing Catholics? “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:28-29 (NKJV)
  15. Q3. (Acts 13:48; Romans 10:13-15) How does an understanding of God's pure grace fit together with the idea of predestination? Acts 13: 48 means that God has appointed and provided eternal life for all who will believe. Ephesians 2:1-10 covers the believer’s life before one’s life without Christ v.1-3; One’s conversion (Part 1): the work of God’s Mercy v. 4-7; their conversion (Part 2): the work of Gods Grace-Salvation 8-10 How might a belief in predestination make us lazy with regard to evangelism? It makes believes lazy when we leave salvation up to predestination. Christ has commanded us to “19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV) Does God "need" us to bring salvation to the world? Yes, according to the above scripture Matthew 28:19-10. I believe that God want us to be obedient , we are to go,say and do what He will have us do. His Holy Spirit dwell within the believer. We are His disciple yet knowing we plant but He is the only one to save. "8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV I would like to add John 15:3-5
  16. Q2. (Ephesians 2:8-9) What is a simple definition of "grace"? The simplest definition for “grace” is God’s favor Why aren't legalism and "works" to please God compatible with grace? Legalism and “works” came through Moses the law giver but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Legalism depended on keeping the Law.” For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9 What part does our faith have to do with our salvation? We do have free will, but,, God is the one that give us the faith.” No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws Him.” John 6:44
  17. Q1. (Acts 15:1,5) What is the essential demand of the Judaizers? The Judaizers essential demand to the Christian (Gentile) believer: “Unless you are Circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved,” Acts. They were teaching that one must become a full Jew, step by step and obey the Mosaic law. before they could be saved. How does that contradict the idea of salvation by grace? We are reminded: “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they,” Acts 15:11. Also, “ for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God , not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 . What is the danger of excessive legalism in our Christian congregations? It undermines the gospel of Jesus Christ. It sows confusion among new converts in the congregations; it slows down the growth and development of the new convert, and sometime causes them to go back into the world.
  18. Q4. (Acts 13:43b) Why is "continuing" or "abiding" in the faith so important? “Continuing” or “abiding” in the faith is important to receive the spirit and influence needed to bring forth the fruit of the spirit. What does Jesus' Parable of the Sower teach about "continuing" (Matthew 13:5-6, 20-21)? It is vital important that a new convert need follow -up with teaching and discipleship to help with their transitional new life style. I too stress, to form disciples to live as Christians, I must do my part by being an “example, teaching and exhortation”. Why do new believers need basic instruction and discipling before the task of evangelism is complete? (Acts 14:21b-22) A new believer needs basic instruction in being a Christian. Some studies will include what evangelism endure for the cause of Christ. From milk to solid food via the word of God. thus, it's important to continue disciplining the new convert. Acts 14:21-22 (NKJV) Says it all. 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."
  19. Q3. How do Paul's gospel presentations to pagans in Lystra (Acts 14:16-17;) and Athens (Acts 17:16-34) differ from his typical message in the synagogues? Paul’s presentation to pagans in Lystra and Athens was different from his typical message to the Jews in the Synagogues. The pagans had little knowledge of God or Jesus, except in (Romans 1:19-20 and Romans 2:6-16). However, God tolerated their past ignorance, but now He demands men to repent as stated in Acts 17:30. Paul preached truths that were self-evident by using common ground with them to biblical truth. Paul’s presentation in the synagogues was to the Jews, they knew about God but didn’t know that Jesus was the Messiah they had been looking for. What common ground does Paul build on with pagan audiences? He builds on what that already knew, and how he could relate to them, such as the unknown god. and other elements in their culture that can relate to the gospel. How will you need to contextualize the gospel in your particular area to build on common ground? It will depend on what culture, country and individuals knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  20. Q2. In evangelizing people, how does God use power encounters (in Paphos, Crete, Acts 13:6-12) and signs and wonders (Acts 14:3 in Iconium)? By striking Bar-Jesus, Elymas “a Jewish sorcerer” blind. Bar-Jesus didn’t want Paul and Barnabas to ruin his status with island ruler. In other word, it’s God’s power over the power of darkness (evil spirit). Are miracles enough to produce saving faith on their own? Miracles are not enough to produce saving faith on their own. If not, what else is needed? The preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his grace. Have you seen signs and wonders with evangelism? If not, why do you think that is. Yes, I was in a three-week revival and saw several people healed. I experience also, the power of the Holy Spirit through me when I touched an individuals, they fell under His power.
  21. Q1. (Acts 13:14-41) What "common ground" does the gospel of Jesus have with Judaism? Paul showed “common ground” through Hebrew history and prophecy about the gospel of Jesus according to scripture. How does Paul's approach in the synagogues reflect building on this common ground? He used scripture they were accustomed to. What is the essence of the gospel? (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) The essence of the gospel is “that Christ died for our sin …He was buried and rose again the third day according to the scripture.” Its salvation. Every man/woman born of a woman have sin, and are in need of a sin bearer. Acts 13:3-4
  22. Q4. (1 Corinthians 9:16-17) How does Paul view his call to preach? Paul view his call bot out of necessity and a sacred trust How much choice is involved for him? Paul said necessity was “laid upon him” he was pressed, compelled, constrained, required, duty-bound to preach the gospel. His preaching was a matter of duty, not of choice it was his charge, his work, his business and his life. He did not choose to be a preacher. If he didn’t preach, he would be disobeying God How much honor? Paul was grateful that he was appointed an apostle by Christ but felt unworthy of honor. How should this understanding affect our understanding of God gifting and calling us for ministry? God’s gift and call is precious, to use for the up building of His kingdom, now while its day, night come when no one can work. I Thank God for salvation. The least I can do is work in the vineyard. What is the opposite of faithfulness when it comes to using God's gifts? unfaithful and disobedient
  23. Q3. (Acts 13:1-3) Why are the church leaders in Antioch seeking God through corporate prayer and fasting? They want to know who to send out. How does God respond to their seeking? Through fasting and praying the Holy Spirit set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work he called them to do. Why do you think we don't do more of this sort of thing today? Too much of: cultural doctrinal and denominational Division. Often, we don’t take the time nor see the need; and let’s not forget, being self-center What was the importance of this to the church at large? Missionaries (Barnabas and Paul) was “set apart for the work to which I have called them. and sent fort”. The importance show, whatever the body of Christ need, we are to seek the Head for direction.
  24. Q2. (Galatians 2:11-16) Why does Paul call out Peter publicly in Antioch? .”for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.” Galatians 2:12.What is the reason for Peter's hypocrisy? “He was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group” Galatians 2:12 Peter wanted to be in good standing with the Judaizer. He was a people pleaser .What is the central issue on which Paul feels they must not compromise? Gentiles believers are fully equal with Jewish Christians. It’s important? Because we are justified by faith and faith alone.
  25. Q2. (Acts 9:10-18) Why do you think God sends Ananias to Paul rather than that revealing directly? There are several reasons given. Ananias lived in Damascus. He is described as a devout man according to the law, and had a good report of the Jewish. Another reason is the new convert needed to experience help and ministry by one of God’s disciple. He needed to see faithfulness in action such as love, care, concern, interest, help to him in the name of Christ 2. Why does Ananias argue with God? He didn’t, but he did give some here say to God as if he did not know. 3.Why does it take courage to obey? 4. What does Ananias do and say? When God called, he listens. His response. “Here am I Lord” and followed the direction given Him. 5.Have you ever had God guide you to talk with someone and minister to him or her? Yes 6.Have you followed through? yes
