  1. Because it is a perfect illustration. People who are childless are eager to have a child and pour their love on. They really want a child. God made us from the beginning for fellowship with Him because He loves us, chose us and wanted us to be His very own, leading us to a good life, giving us His all, providing for us, etc. It is encouraging to me, knowing I will never be alone. He is always with me. He lives in me and you can't get any closer than that! You can share anything with Him, so trustworthy. God has given me great parents, they were good to me, always provided for me but they are no longer here and God is forever. He chose me to pour His love on, He cares for me, He provides for me, He encourages me by His Word and Holy Spirit. I am never lonely, I am content and satisfied. I am adopted into the Family of God.

  7. It means that we stand holy in Christ. He has given us of His Righteousness. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. We are not holy of ourselves, but we are in Christ. I can stand blameless before God because of Christ and His sacrifice.
  8. What is scary about predestination is that when I first become a Christian, some teaching I heard was that salvation was for just certain people. Which now I know is not true. What is comforting is that He chose me because I called out to Him and He answered my prayer. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. He chose me in love, and not because I was perfect. That is a good word that he predestined the church to finish His work - that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5:19 We are now the body of Christ and we should be telling others about Christ and the Gospel and let them make the choice.
  9. When I gave my life to Jesus, He came to live in me by His Holy Spirit. I am united with Christ. All blessings have been given to me in Christ. He made me a new creation. The old man is dead. I no longer have a sinful nature. With His Holy Spirit in me I have the ability to say "no" to sin. 2 Co. 5:17 Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; The Holy Spirit will help me to live this Christian life now and I will spend eternity in heaven. Phil. 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
  10. 1. a. Jesus was in the beginning. He was the Word. b. He is God. c. Incarnation - He became flesh. d. By dying on the cross for us, taking our place and paying for our sins. e. We acknowledge His truth by accepting that he died for us, paid for our sins and we are set free and can now have fellowship with God. If we reject Him and don't receive His love we will not spend eternity with Him and will go to hell.
  11. 1. a. Because He could not take our place as God, Creator of the Universe. He had to become human, like us and that is a great humbling. b. It was a tremendous downgrade, but loved us so much that he would do it. It is so hard to comprehend that Love. c. His omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, all who He was. d. That I need to humble myself and now that He saved me and I have His Spirit within me, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and He will help me.
  12. 1. a. He was born in human form to take our place on the cross of Calvary and pay for our sins, took our sorrows, pain, suffering and punishment instead of us. b. The Lord had laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He loved us so much, even when we strayed, Like the lost sheep, He continues to look for us to bring us back to Him. c. The wages of sin is death, which every human has committed. Sin requires a sacrifice, but not as in the old testament where bulls and lambs were sacrificed. They could only cover sins and only for once every year, but Jesus, the perfect sacrifice takes away sin forever and for all by dying on the cross, going to hell for us, resurrection and ascension and is now seated at the Father's right hand accomplishing His mission.
  13. 1. a. Just to show us how he grew up as a human and had to learn like we do, growing from a child to an adult, obeying His parents and submitting to them, as an example for us and learning from teachers and asking them questions as we do to grow in our Christian walk. b. He was intent in learning more about His Father, therefore He was drawn to the Temple to learn from the teachers and to ask them questions, getting wisdom and understanding and preparing for His ministry of Teaching God's Word in the future. c. Taking time to grow and prepare is important because we have to know God's Word before we can teach it. When we get saved we get so excited we want to tell everybody but we have to be an example, sometimes the Lord has to clean us up and teach us some things before we do. As you prepare and grow the Holy Spirit gives you insight and wisdom in the things of God. d. We are tempted to short circuit because maybe we don't have the time and think we can do it without preparing but mostly depending on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you will have good results.
  14. 1. a. The Ancient of Days granted to Jesus, the Son of Man/Son of God - Authority, Glory and Sovereign Power. b. Jesus used the title of "Son of Man" because, even though He was Messiah, He was Son of Man, when Mary accepted her purpose (be it unto me according to thy Word) and was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost and received the Seed of God and gave birth to Jesus/God/man. He became as one of us - Human, then to die, taking our place that we might be set free/saved/delivered. c. That He has all Authority, and as the Father has given it to Him, He has given it to His children also. I am to use this authority by faith, speaking what the Word says.
  15. 1. a. Joseph knows that he heard God and was obedient and followed God's instructions immediately. We need to be obedient like Joseph, and do it immediately, not delaying, knowing that He knows best, He has a plan for us, it is always a good outcome and it is for our good. b. We don't need to know the outcome, just be obedient. c. God did not this evil thing, God is good. It was a war between good and evil, Satan and his Creator. These children were martyrs and we will see them in heaven someday. d. Yes, I believe God honors them as martyrs for the Messiah.
  16. 1. a. Gift giving on this occasion today is mere custom and motivated by sales and money. It motivated me to see when Santa Claus was introduced into the picture and Jesus pushed to the background. Don't people realize that he is the answer to all their problems. He is their Messiah that came to take away their sin, addictions, sickness, deliverance from different hang ups, prejudices, etc. Sure, we love our family, but most people here in America don't need anything but to know their Messiah has come. Jesus is the greatest gift of all. b. The Magi's gifts were fitting for the Christ Child because He is The King deserving of Gold, Frankincense - Worthy of Worship (deity), Myrrh - His humanity and dying for us. c. What gifts can I give Him - Offer my body as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), obeying His Word, praise, worship and thanksgiving. d. Being obedient by doing His will and not my own.
  17. 1. a. The kingship of Jesus is a threat to our self-determination because, as Dr. Wilson states, there is in us, an independent streak. We want to be in charge. We don't want someone telling us what to do. b. The choices in light of his Kingdom is to spend time with Him, hearing His voice and be in submission to Him, be willing to let Him have His way. Not be stubborn or hard hearted. Knowing that we need Him every day, moment by moment.
  18. 1. a. We get too busy and too distracted, we don't want to look at our inward condition, we want to be entertained (easy, lazy), we waste time, we are just concerned with ourselves, we are not totally committed. Before the world devices and all its gadgets, I believe Christians spent more time in meditation and prayer. Its time to shut those things off, the news, entertainment, face book, etc. Spending time with the Lord always brings good results, benefits and we can't out-give God. I don't know why we don't do it more often. He is a 24 hr. God and He loves us. The devil hates us and always tries to distract us with things and taking our mind off the Lord and how great He is. b. I think the Lord values the time in the morning when you are refreshed. The enemy puts wrong thoughts in your mind and you have to fight them with the Word and the Lord gives you the victory over them. You thank Him for another day and His mercy. At night, I wait too long and I am wasted. c. Because Anna listens to the Lord, she knows exactly what to do, where to be and what to say. Being in tune with the Lord, she knows what He is doing. Just as Jesus was in tune with the Lord, spending time in prayer and only did what the Father was doing and saying. We too, being totally committed and spending time with the Lord and hearing will know what to do and say.
  19. 1. a. Simeon had been waiting for the Messiah to come and it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. He was moved on by the Holy Spirit to go to the temple the day Jesus was circumcised and dedicated to the Lord. He was sent for the prophetic praise of Jesus coming, who He was and what He came to do. b. This incident was recorded in Luke's Gospel, because it is very important and it is a fulfillment of O.T. prophecy, as in Isaiah 49:6 and elsewhere. People would not believe Him, reject Him and finally crucify Him and He really came to free and deliver them. c. Simeon's prophecy was fulfilled because all the things he prophesied came true - He is a Light, not just for the Jews, but also for the Gentiles.
  20. 1. a. It is fearful because we had better be ready, that is, being born again and walking in His will. Not participating in sin or the things of the flesh, because He could come at any time. b. These verses were fulfilled in Jesus day, when John the Baptist came before Jesus, baptized the people with the baptism of repentance. c. Jesus comes proclaiming, "The time is come. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel. Jesus came the first time to give His life for all a ransom for those who would accept His dying for them, His resurrection and ascension. But in the second coming, He comes to judge all who didn't receive Him and are happy with their sinful lives.
  21. 1. a. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. His holiness and in His dying on the cross to bring us to God, giving us peace, shedding His blood and being obedient unto death. b. Jesus left heaven, humbled Himself and became a man that he could identify with us, making it possible to bring us to God. He came not to be served but to serve and to give His live as a ransom for many. c. The incarnation is a such a miracle because God planned it in the beginning (knowing that Adam and Eve would mess up), that man could be redeemed. The angel said to Mary, the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And the God/man was born: Jesus - The one and only payment for our sins.
  22. 1. a, The Angels response was to go see what the Angels had told them. They hurried, found the place, where Mary and Joseph was and the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in the manger. Then they told everyone what had happened to them and what the angel told them about the child. b. Mary kept all these things in her heart and pondered them. The shepherds went back to their flocks, worshiping and praising God for all the things they had seen and heard.
  23. 1. a. The shepherds were shocked because it took them by surprise, it was quiet and totally dark, they were taking care of the sheep and it was brighter than anything they had ever seen before. it was ablaze. b. It was not low key because it the greatest event that ever took place. The coming of the Messiah which the Jews had longed for, for centuries. c. Behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which will be for all the people. Jesus the Christ, Savior, Lord, Anointed One, the Messiah, the God/man was born and came to save us and deliver us from sin and bring us to the Father by His precious blood. Not just for the Jews only but for all people. d. The good news was authenticated by what the Angel told them, and what to look for: A baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.
  24. 1. a. Because Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. For this registry Joseph and Mary had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the birthplace of David. Jesus is born in history, He is both historical and verifiable. b. They had to travel 4 days from Nazareth to Bethlehem and Mary was in her late pregnancy. There was no place for them to lodge, so they stayed in a stable where there were animals and Jesus was born and was laid in a manger. c. Jesus commission is to preach good news to the poor, so He is born the poorest of the poor. Jesus did not come to be served but to be a servant. He emptied Himself and was made in human likeness. They were certainly humbled in all they had to go through. d. He allows difficulties in our lives that we might learn to depend on Him.
  25. 1. a. God does everything perfect. He sent His Son at the proper time, something He had planned since the beginning of time. b. Being redeemed means He bought me from slavery to sin, to freedom and from darkness to light. c. He adopted me, made me His child, His daughter. I received the full rights of being His child. Loved me enough to send His Son to die for me. d. I am a co-heir with Christ. What Christ inherits, I inherit. Christ is my older brother. I am seated in heavenly places, in Christ.
