  1. The Servant Is a Substitute Who Bears Our Punishment. Besides bearing the sins of the people, the Servant in Isaiah also bears their punishment, standing in as a substitute in their place.
  2. Atonement is that the Servant or Lamb, in our analogy -- is more than a helper, advisor, or victor. He is a substitute for us, that is, he bears our sins instead of us. Substitutionary Atonement, is when Jesus (the innocent, without sin, servant) took our sins and bore the weight of them and was punished for them.
  3. The New Testament scripture convinces me that Jesus saw His mission spelled out in Is. 53 is John 10:14-19 where He describes Himself as the good shepherd and confirms He will lay down His life for the sheep voluntarily as His Father had commanded as restitution for our sins.
  4. God remove sins from all people in this world who comes to Him. 2. This is a universal sacrifice of salvation in a sense JESUS suffered and died for all mankind. 3. JESUS sacrifice is wasted on people who do not acknowledge Him and continue doing things their way and sinning against Him.
  5. God required animal sacrifices as a way for His people to temporarily atone for their sins and draw nearer to Him. Ultimately, the sacrifices pointed to the severity of sin and the coming ultimate sacrificial death, that of Jesus Christ. Sin must be attoned for. To have a relationship with God
  6. Animal sacrifices provided a means of permitting the ancient Israelite who had sinned unintentionally, to remain in the community of the nation, under God’s rule, and to be spared from physical punishment. In case of an unintentional sin by the entire congregation, animal sacrifices prevented that God would turn His back on them and forsake them. God required animal sacrifices to provide a temporary covering of sins and to foreshadow the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ Animal sacrifice is an important theme found throughout Scripture because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”. When Adam and Eve sinned, animals were killed by God to provide clothing for them . After the flood receded, Noah sacrificed animals to God .
  7. We have to choose to submit to God for the process of learning in order to grow spiritually. It is a process begun at salvation and ongoing with each and every choice that we make to submit ourselves to God. This process will continue until the Lord comes again or He calls us home. The wonderful thing about this is that, as the Apostle Paul so aptly states, "But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord" To be humble, we must believe that God will lead us in the best way to live and avoid temptation. We must put complete trust in the Lord and not deceive ourselves with vanity or ****. We should lean on God's understanding, wisdom, and divinity to show us the righteous path through prayer, meditation, fasting, and other faithful practices.
  8. You must believe in Jesus in order to enter the kingdom of God. if you believe Jesus died for us you will be saved. Spread the gospel to the people so they can believe
  9. There was a problem with greed in the church at Ephesus. It was taught by the false teachers that godliness is a means to financial gain, which mislead the whole Gospel "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content (arkeō) with what you have, because God has said, ' Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you
  10. By spreading the Gospel and bringing people to Christ. He wants slaves to excel in their service. Paul’s apparent social conservatism has been the subject of much misunderstanding. To bring order and Christian character to the forefront of their lives until they could be legally, and physically set free.
  11. Give them the opportunity to prove themselves The whole church shares in a leader's sins if they appoint him without knowing him well. When a leader's sin becomes public, the whole flock shares equal responsibility with those who laid hands on him. A structured process is of utmost importance when appointing leaders in the church.
  12. Formal accusations & trials are necessary to bring about justice in the church. Temptations to compromise or to not go along with it were due to the importance the people put on the person, needing his money or his name or position in public, instead of trusting God to supply & let justice be served. It's difficult today for the same reasons.
  13. If an elder is a full time worker for the Lord and is solely dependent upon the church as a means of survival then that person should be compensated for their commitment. If they work they should be paid
  14. With the women dressing all up was a distraction in the church away from God. in Pauls day modesty was important because the Jewish and Hellenistic traditions associated extravagant female styles with sexual promiscuity among Jesus. I think that when people dress up fancy they are competing against other members of the church, instead of coming to the church to worship.
  15. Take responsibility for them, if they need help, help them. Treat them like you would want to be treated with respect. Just as they cared for us it is our turn to care for them One who refuses to do for their family, is not worthy of Christ.
  16. Good church leadership maintains Christ’s interests, is led by the Holy Spirit, and makes services meaningful. The right leaders also keep members engaged in a deeper level of activities all while honoring the name of Jesus Christ.
  17. One who is faithful to his one and only wife, has self control over all aspects of life. Has a good reputation has the ability to teach others, and invites people into his home. A church is like a family, if you cant control your home family how can you control the church family
  18. Confession or acknowledgement of sin . confession and atonement are both necessary to receive forgiveness of sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins" Man needs someone greater than himself to actually atone for and do away with sin.
  19. We need some animals for our daily meals. But to just go out and kill and animal, drain the blood iss avagely cruel
  20. God’s anger, referred to as wrath, is His holy and perfect reaction to sin. God does not sin in His anger. His anger is always justified, and throughout the Old Testament, His wrath was meant to draw His people back to Himself.
  21. The Jews used animals for sacirfices to appease the anger of the gods. “To be called a Lamb of God means that God gave Jesus to be killed like a lamb for our sins so we could live forever.” The majority of Old Testament passages that mention “lamb” refer to a sacrifice. Jesus died for us and took our sins. One sacrifice for all. Everyone must repent for their sins.
  22. Godliness” the word is translated from the Greek word for "piety", and is used in the New Testament fourteen times in the letters of Peter and Paul. While the expression also refers to the divinity of God, godliness in the Bible is mainly used to describe a positive way of life influenced by God, and inspired reflection in the tenets of the Christian faith. Morality is the belief that some behavior is right and acceptable and that other behavior is wrong.
  23. Legalistic makes people feel there in control and self-righteous, and satisfaction. The gospel wants us to follow God, we could do it from home or at church dressed in pj or a suit
  24. Paul reminds Timothy of this prediction so that he will not be surprised or overwhelmed by the chaos he sees in the church at Ephesus. Paul attributes this false teaching to Satan himself. Search for the truth, study the word
  25. A deacon watches over the church, pass the sacrament. Warn, teach and invite all to come unto Christ. The Lord’s work is the deacon's work. To become a deacon you must be dignified, not addicted to wine, not greedy or dishonest. Must have faith and be blameless An overseer, also known as a bishop, elder, or pastor, is a leader in the church who is responsible for spiritual oversight and pastoral care of the congregation. They are tasked with ensuring the church functions properly and according to biblical principles. Overseers must be trustworthy and must be above reproach. Sober-minded, respectable, and able to teach.
