Q2. Inquiring of the Lord
crissy464 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 4. David Flees from Saul (1 Samuel 21-23)
Abiathar goes with the ephod (which is a linen apron worn in ancient Hebrew rites to David. David’s inquiring of the Lord is because he wants the Lord to let him know of the Philistine raiders are attacking the walled Judean city of Keilah And if he needs to attack them God didn’t turn a deaf ear to David’s inquiry and He won’t turn a deaf ear to us when we pursue His will and way for our lives and seek His counsel and guidance. God knows our dilemmas and has compassion for our problems, and is always available– If we will just inquire. -

crissy464 replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. The Book of Immanuel (Isaiah 7-12)
He needed to trust in the Lord. He didnt believe in God Ahaz was frightened and wanted to appeal to Assyria for help. Isaiah clearly saw the folly that would be involved in a move of this kind, and in a prophecy that has often been misinterpreted as a reference to a coming Messiah, he warned King Ahaz that within three or four years those two puppet kingdoms that he feared would be completely routed. We sometimes feel we can do it by ourselves instead of depending on God -

David had fled to Samuel and told him all that Saul had done to him In flying to Samuel he made God his refuge, trusting in the shadow of his wings; where else can a good man think himself safe. If we expect answers of peace to our prayers, we must open our ears to God’s word. Saul had sent his men to get David, but they could not bring him back. So Saul went himself, but he saw that David was under the special protection of Heaven. It seems Saul thinks because he's the King that he has the power to do anything, but God has the power and God only.
