  1. Q4. (1 John 3:22) We know that God doesn't "owe" us anything. So what is the relationship between obedience and answered prayer? Do we "earn" God's favor through obedience? When we are obedient we are doing the work of our God, and he will here our prayer because we are still connected with him. If we are a child of God than we must do what he tells us to do. If we choose not then we are disconnected to him. When you continue to do wrong how can you expect someone to reward you. God is a loving God that he will not tell us through the Holy Spirit to do anything wrong. No matter what the situation we must always be obedience even when it is hard. We me I have been in situation when it was hard for me to do the will of God, at one time in my life I didn't but do His grace and mercy he gave me another chance and I will continue to do His will NO MATTER WHAT.
  2. Q3. (1 John 3:16-18) What does it mean to "lay down your life for your brothers"? What are some concrete examples of this kind of love in action within the Christian community? If you are in a large congregation, how can you get to know other members so you'll be able to lay down your life for them -- and they for you? To lay do you life for your brothers is to Love them like Christ loved us. If we know that someone in our community is in need of anything we should not send them away but offer our best that Christ through the spirit told us. We must learn to reach out more to people and stop being selfish as if we are so great and nothing seem to concern our spirit to care for others forgetting that the things that we have was only because of Christ. God gave and he can sure take it away if that is how we must learn to sure our pure love of Christ and the people that is in our path so that we can continue to do the work for our purpose her on this side. It is real love to lay down to give what God told you to give, to help when God place you in a place to help and to Always love no matter what.
  3. Q2. (1 John 3:15) How can anger turn into hatred in our hearts? In what ways do anger and hatred relate to murder? How can we get rid of stored-up anger in our hearts so that we may love those who have offended us? Anger can turn into hatred in our hearts if we are not careful of being judgemental and not protecting our hearts from the things of this world. We must understand that if we are angry we must pray about everything and let God do what God will do. Anger and hatred relate to murder because in the book of Matthew is says that they are one. If we are anger about something we must not act like the world, we must repent and not let it become apart of our heart. I really do feel that as soon as something is said or done we must immediately look at this situation and say what is it Lord that I must see and learn from this. Please let me understand that this thing is not of You Lord but of the evil one. Search my heart and clean me, let me have eyes to see things in the spirit not in the natural. Guide my heart, mine and soul. In Jesus name Amen.
  4. Q1. (1 John 3:12-15) Why did Cain resent Abel? Why did Cain kill Abel? How does the story of Cain and Abel illustrate Jesus' explanation of why the world hates us? Cain resent Abel because Cain was evil, so he killed him because he was of this world and not righteous like Abel. If you are of this world you will be like this world but if you are born again then you are like Jesus. If the world hated Jesus it will sure hate you. It is clear that hungry and greed to be important in the eyes of others are things of the world. When we offer our best to God in all things than it will be excepted but if we offer even our pray that is not pure and not in Jesue name we are not giving our best. We should be careful about all things that we are doing that may be of the world.
  5. Q4. (1 John 3:6, 9) How does the presence of God's seed in us keep us from habitual lawlessness and sin? How does the Holy Spirit sanctify us and make us like Jesus? If we are truly born again we will feel the presence of God's seed in us. Whenever we do anything wrong or not pleasing to God our Spirit will convice us. We will feel bad about this thing, it will hurt us, we will feel unclean. The Holy Spirit will help us to make the right decision at all time. We must listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and to whatever it is that we are to do to stay in the presence of God. Our life is directed by the Spirit of God, if we only will take the time to spend time in his word, pray and be honest about the things that we are doing are not doing in the present of God.
  6. Q3. (1 John 3:4) How does lawlessness show up in a person's attitude and actions? In what sense is an attitude of lawlessness the cause of sin in our lives? Lawlessness show up in ones attitude and actions by them doing whatever there want and have no concern of the blessing of God and all that was done for us through grace and mercy. Many are not concern about what people say are think and this become a time when a Christian try to talk to them about the sin that is not pleasing with God. There will turn it around and make it seem like someone is judging them. That is usually a way for most to continue in doing what is not pleasing to God.
  7. Q1. (1 John 2:29-3:2) In what sense are we "children of God"? What does the Holy Spirit have to do with this "new birth"? How does the new birth change us? We are children of God because His spirit is in us once we are born again. He is our Father, and are to live by his word. Whatever He said is true. We must be obidient to ALL that is in our life that is directed by the word of God. The Holy Spirit is the new birth in us because once we are born again the Holy Spirit takes up resident in our heart. It than guide us and teaches us what we need to do in order to enter into the Kingdom of God. The new birth change us by getting ride of the old self that was within us and we began to be more like our Lord and Savor. It's just a one day event it's our life from the time of Salvation until we go to our Father in Heaven.
  8. Q5. (1 John 2:26-27) If we have the Holy Spirit, why do we need teachers in the church? How does the role of the anointing differ from the Holy Spirit's spiritual gift of teaching? The Holy Spirit is here to remine us the truth about Jesus and guide us. God place Godly teachers so that we can learn continues about the True words of God and not the lies of the devil. The role of the anointing is differ because it is a special gift that one receive for a particular area that God have for them to do for the growth of the Church. The Holy Spirit spiritual gift is within us so that we don't need anyone to teach us what is true. The Spirit teaches us all things that is the truth so that we will continue to live in Christ.
  9. Q4. (1 John 2:24-28) What does it mean to abide/remain/continue in Jesus? Give an example of what a Christian might be doing who is "abiding" in Jesus. What are symptoms in a Christian who is not "abiding" in Jesus? To abide in Jesus is to stay connected to Him in all that we do. Remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. A great example of a Christian that is abiding in Jesus is whenever someone hurt you in a way that is so degrading you must forgive them and Love them like Jesus will. That is very hard but I had to learn to forgive and moved on. I really did make me feel at peace once I let go of all that was holding me back from True worship and praise for the Lord. If I didn't forgave than I would have not been truly abiding in Jesus.
  10. Q3. (1 John 2:20, 27) In what ways is the Holy Spirit an internal Guide for us? In what ways does he teach us? In what ways does he point us to Jesus' teaching? The Holy Spirit speaks to use the truth. He is our Comforter that is with us. But we must continue to listen for His guidence so that we will be lead in the path of righteousness. He teaches us all things concering the lies that the devil use to try to deceive us from doing the things of God. He point out that Jesus is righteous and when He return if we are righteous we will not be ashamed of the things that we do because we are born again of Him.
  11. Q1. (1 John 2:18) What is this antichrist that John expects to come? What is the difference between the antichrist and antichrists in the church John is writing to? In what ways do we see the spirit of antichrist at work in our day? The antichrist that John expects to come are the beast the devil the Adversary of the Messiah. The antichrists are those that have been tricked by the antichrist. Those are people that are doing the work of a false teacher, that are not lead by the Holy Spirit. The spirit of the antichrist is at work today by deceiving so many in the church, teaching things that are not of God, having so many believe that it's OK to do things that God has commanding us not to do. He uses trick words like he did in the garden with Eve. He wants us to believe that some of the things that we do if we are not hurting anyone it's OK. But that is a lie, any thing that we do that is not of God is hurting us, to become the child of God that He created. The antichrist is working harder now more than ever. I do pray that we all stay focus and read our bible every day and ask God what is it I need to do this day for his Glory in Jesus name I do pray. Amen
  12. Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Why is worldliness so harmful to our future? **** of the flesh, **** of the eyes, and the pride of life. Things that are of the world, that you desire to have. It is often difficult to discern because sometime it is also things that we at first did not have such strong desire for at first but for example if we want to go shopping for one thing but the store is having a sale, knowing that we already are having financial problem we desire to get more than what we really need. And latter it becomes a bigger problem that what it should have been because of our **** for the things that we wanted to much and really didn't need. The worldliness is harmful if we loose our focus of the things of God. We are only here for awhile, we are passing through. This world will fade away and everything in it will also. So we must do the will of God so that we can live forever with Him.
  13. Q3. (1 John 2:15-16) What is "the world" in verses 15-16? What kind of love of "the world" keeps us from loving the Father? The World is everything except the Heaven, were God Kingdom is, the place that we all pray to be with our Father when Jesus come back. It is the place were we are given the chance to make the choice of doing good or evil. When we love the evil things of this world such as the **** for everything we see, **** for physical pleasure, and pride in our possessions. Things that doesn't belong to us. All of it is what God created.
  14. Q2. (1 John 2:12-14) John encourages "children," "young men," and "fathers." Why do you think he takes time to encourage them? In what ways does he encourage them? I feel it was important that John encouraged them because it all represent us as we mature in our personal relationships, that as we grow will be continue to face situation in our lives but the same God that was with us as a child is with us through all stages of our life. John tells us basically to keep the faith, trust God, he tell us that our sins are forgiven and not to let the evil out take our focus of our strength because we are strong and he have already been defeated.
  15. Q1. (1 John 2:7-11) How does hate and unforgiven blind us spiritually? If we have been darkened by hurt and hate, how do we come into the light? When we hate and forgive, we don't see things as God see them. We are not showing love. We must learn to let go and forgive those that have hurt us. No one said you have to become best friend with them but you must let those hurt and unforgiving go not only for them but so that you can become closer with God. This is what we are to do at all times, in order to be walking in the light of Jesus path. I have learn that it's not worth it, the other person seem as thou they have control over you when you don't let those hurt and pain go.
  16. Q5. (1 John 2:3-6) How can we be serious about obeying Christ without become legalistic and judgmental, with a self-righteous attitude like the Pharisees had? How do love and legalism differ? How can we be serious about obedience and make love our center? We can be serious only if we being true to the reason why we are doing certain things. Many of us say that we are not being judgmental but we are. We often look at people and judge the sin in other life because we want everyone to see us as this person that is so into church and doing good, but that show on the out side is just a show. If our heart is not right we are not right. We must do things in Love because this is what God is and what we are commanded to do, not because it's a law but it's our life. Without Love we are not representing God. We must learn to be obedient and show love in all our situation,It's hard at time especially when you have to show love to someone that have tried to or have hurt you. That's hard but it can be done if we keep our focus on God. The test isn't always easy, but the final grade will make the different. Keep God in the center and everything else around it will be affected by LOVE.
  17. Q4. (1 John 2:1-2) What assurance does John give us if we do sin? How does this comfort us? How does it make us want to avoid sin? John assures us that we have Jesus who speak in our behalf to the father for use when we sin. Sometime I feel this give many people and excuse to sin, but I'm grateful that Jesus bared all of our sin on the cross, that He paid the price and what a price to pay. I'm grateful for that, now we all have a chance to get it right and live truly as Christian. I don't want God to be made with me. Jesus did something that no one could are would have ever done for each of us. We should try hard to live our days reading the words of God, praying, fasting and loving each other. Showing the fruits of the spirit in all that we do and say.
  18. Q3. (1 John 1:9) How would you define "confession"? Why is confessing our sins so important? What happens to us if we stop confessing our sins? What are the promises given to us if we do confess our sins? How is forgiveness of sins different from cleansing? Confession is agree to God what he have already declare as sin. If we confess our sin to God we are showing how sincere we are about cleaning up our sin, and living our life as God purpose for us. God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Forgiveness is that God will not hold our past against us, He have forgotten that sin and cleansing is we are made pure, clean for all unclean things, those sin are no longer apart of our present we are purify and it is Great.
  19. Q2. (1 John 1:5-7) What is the result when a Christian walks in darkness, that is, continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong? How does this involve self-deception? What is the result, according to verse 7, when we walk in the light? How do we get back into the light if we sin? For a Christian that continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong is the same as someone that pull they own trigger for death. We cannot fool God about what we are doing when we think no-one can see us. If we consider ourselves as true Christian then we will not willfully do those things that are not pleasing to God. We are only fooling our self, we lie and don't know how to tell the truth and eventually that person will fall into a pit so deep that he/she will die are have a hard time getting out of. When we walk in the light we fellowship with one another because the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. We must confess our sins to through Jesus Christ and be sincere about it. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  20. Q1. (1 John 1:3-4, 6-7) Why is our fellowship with fellow Christians so often just on a surface level? How can we have fellowship at a deeper level in Christ? What would it take in your Christian group or your relationships with other believers to deepen your level of fellowship so it is authentically Christian? So many people are focus on the out-side appearance, unlike God who see our heart. We often want everyone to look at us a Christian we we are at a church gathering, and once we are away the truth be told, many of our actions is just the opposite. I call it like this A surface Christian is one that is waiting to sink to the bottom if they are not true to what ground they are really standing on. The true surface of God grace and mercy that keep us committed no matter what and who we are around. We must first be committed to spend time reading his word and listen to what He is telling or saying to us. We often let our action be a reaction to the situation, not looking at what God is doing in our life. Our focus in off line. We need to be truthful and respectful to other. Tell each other when we are wrong but do it with the Fruits of the Spirit that is within us. It's time out for game we need to step up to our TRUE responsibility's as Christine and do God work not the work that we may choose that is easier for us. sometime it will get hard but, understanding that our hard days is a glories day in the Kingdom of God if we are obeying His word. Thank you God for letting me stay focus on you not focus on how people want are believe I should be. Let me be that light that is a representative of my True Love for You.
  21. Hi I'm Char, have a wonderful, blessed son and daughter in law who have blessed me with a beautiful grandaugter, that was born 1 month before my sister went on to be with the Lord. It's a difficult time for me now but I'm very excited to began the Discipleship Lessons from John's letters. My church bible study class have started also studying about Discipleship. Great and interesting lesson to be learn. I'm Greatful to God through his son Jesus who have alway been a great part of my life. I pray that the Spirit of God will continue to show us the things that we need to do and the things that we need to change in our life so that we will enjoy it the way God intended. Thanks be to God for the Pastor.
  22. Q4. (Psalm 34:18-22) What encouragement does David give to the brokenhearted? What does it mean that God "redeems" you? How can we avoid condemnation according to Psalm 34:22? If you heart is broken know that God is with you. Don't let your situation over take your focus of who God is and what God can do. We all may have had a broken heart many times but we made it through it just knowing and putting our faith is the true God. God will redeem us by releasing us, taking control over the situation, He will cover us and recover the fear that is trying to control the situation. If we trust He and stand still knowing that our Father have it all under control we will be able to rest in the mist of the situation and not worry about what is next. To avoid condemnation we must serve the Lord and trust in Him in ALL things. We need to worship and praise Him always. Keep of eyes on our God.
  23. Q3. (Psalm 34:1-3) Why should we praise God continually? What are barriers to continual praise? What does continual praise do to our spirit? How are you training yourself to praise continually? We should praise God continually because it brings joy to Him and Jesus. He is the joy of our life. He gave us joy that is He gave us Jesus which gave us another chance to have peace, joy, and love in our life. The barries of continual praise is that we do it in Jesus name. We must never forget that all praise go to our father but through Jesus. It's like Jesus get it first and if it is exceptable He release it to the father. No garbage go to the father in other words, nothing unclean are not from the heart will be exceptable. Continual praise give my spirit joy, unexplan, peace that is so loving, and the feeling of God present is awsome. It becomes overwhelming and delightful to feel the spirit of the Lord present with me. Love that feeling is almost like I don't ever want to leave that point. So I will continue to praise Him in all that I do and say in Jesus name.
  24. Q2. (Psalm 118) What does "the stone the builders rejected" (verses 22-23) have to do with the Messiah? What do verses 25-27 have to do with the Messiah? The Messiah is our corner stone. He is what we need to make our life strong, perfect, and solid. He makes our house solid. When we reject the most important part of our house we are not complete and that will allow our house to not only fall but it will crumble into total divistation. We will alway need the Corner stone in our life. Verse 25-27 is when Jesus was before the triump of Jesus. He was talking to the people before that day come when he was to be cruified. Jesus was telling them that they needed to just except that He was the one and true Messiah and until they except that He was they will not ever see Him again. They will die and go to hell. He was giving them the opportunity to make it right but many did not take his word as the truth and that is why so many are falling today. He is the one and ONLY TRUE MESSIAH. HE IS OUR CORNER STONE. So now we can have our house build on Solid not sinking in the pit of darkness. Thank you Lord for coming to save me and being my Corner Stone and my family Corner Stone.
  25. Q1. (Psalm 100) What is the predominant emotion in Psalm 100? How does this psalm make you feel emotionally about God? What are the reasons for praise given in verses 3 and 5? What are the commands in this psalm? This is a Psalm of Thanksgiving, and praise to our God. We praise God because He is the Creator of us all, and we are His. We are not only His but we are the sheep of His pasture. The Lord is good and His mercy is unfailing love continues forever and His faithfulness continues to all generation. The command in this Psalm is for us to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
