  1. 4a)If we do sin there is still hope for us because Jesus is alive."Christ Jesus ... is at the right hand of God and is also intercedingfor us." (Romans 8:34) "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." (Hebrews 7:25).He is the only Righteous one who can atone for our sins. b)This love of God,providing Jesus as not only our advocate in God’s court of judgement but also our Atoning sacrifice for sins, arguing our case out of infinite love. In spite of God's anger against human rebellion and sin, he offers His grace if we sin.The Righteous One argues for justice. Since he has already paid for our sins, no additional punishment is due us for our sins. c)God loves us so much he sent Jesus as sacrifice for us,&it hurts him when still sin.we don’t want to hurt/break fellowship with those whom love us,this makes us want to avoid sin,but seek to be living vessels to be used by Him filled with his power for His glory.
  2. a)Coming clean with God. agreeing with God’s truth about our sinful thoughts and actions. b)Confessing our sins to mature christians&God is the only way to restore our relationship with God, be clean, be free from sins hold on us,and be healed physically&spiritually.Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." (James 5:16a) c)If we stop confessing our sins we become hardened,we refuse to acknowledge our sins, our pretend love for God wanes, does not withstand testing&vitality of the Spirit is lost.Sin unconfessed will continue&pull us away from Jesus. d) God having laid our sins on Jesus is faithful and just,&If we confess our sins he promises to i/release us from our sins completey,we are pardoned& forgiven &saved. ii/make us clean purify us from our character flaws(our unrighteousness)we are santified. Our sins are removed from us as far as the as the east is from the west. e)Forgiveness of sins is about restoring our relationship to ourFather so he treats us as if wehad never sinned. As I confess my sins&turn away from them,Jesus is cleansing me from my character flaws, incrementally. Christ's character is formed in me (Galatians 4:19).God is removing the unrighteousness from our souls. We will be walking in the light.

  4. 2a) He or she is led away by deceiver into worldly actions with false happiness drink, sex, buying spree’s all seeking joy where there is no true lasting joy.We face eternal seperation from Godin hell. b)Any distortion from the truth in darkness,is a lie,self-deception. c)When we walk in the light we are in fellowship with Christ, following Jesus withour heart mind &soul, letting our actions &thoughts be moulded &shaped by him. d)If we sin but then recognise the futility of our actions and repent, turning away from past ways completely, our loving Father in His mercy forgives us, cleanses us through blood of Jesus, restoring us,changing our mind &actions as we become new creations of light again.
  5. 1a) When we have disagreements with actions of fellow Christians, we allow the enemy, worldly thoughts to come in and weaken the fellowship we should have with fellow Christians. We forget that God loves us first,He put His love in us, we don’t see his love in each other. Whatever we do or say to another we should do/say it based on love for God. We don’t always see God in others, but see them selfishly in how they can help us.We are joined by the bond of Christ with fellow believing christians &our actions should give God praise for blessings he gives us. b)We can have a deeper level of fellowship in Christ by reminding each other of God’s promises, his everlasting hope &peace amidst storms of life, how he never leaves us nor forsakes us, but forgives us, restores us, guides us in His ways of light.seeking to help us understand that although Jesus is preexistent, because He cares for us,he restored our relationship with God the Father.Through Jesus sacrifice for us on cross,we have died to our old ways of self, with Him,we’re reborn to a new creation in Christ continually being changed with HS help,,to walk with him more closely each day, speaking, thinking &living more in ways Jesus asks us to,bringing pleasure to our Father in heaven. c)If we get to know others in a small life group, gaining trust of each other to keep confidences,we feel safe to share openly with others in gp our struggles, needs, fears seeking together the Lord’s guidance, help, forgiveness&comfort.,- learning how to live out our faith in our daily thoughts 8actions at home&work, growing in daily discipleship together. Through this sharing our level of fellowship deepens&is authentically Christian .
  6. 4a)Paul probably knew he had v limited time& wanted his cloak ,,the encouragement of his parchments & Timothy’s support in these last testing day’s before his final hearing in Rome and likely execution. He urges Timothy to come before cold winter storms so he has warmth of cloak which he left in Troas&to avoid him being prevented from travelling overland through Macedonia by bad weather & ship across the Adriatic Sea to Brundisium &onto Rome b)If Timothy delays,he may not see Paul alive again as Paul may perish before he gets there, the winter weather will worsen &he may not have benefit of cloak etc. c)think Timothy given an opportunity to serve Paul his mentor would have prioritised this, hope so d)yes I like to think I would have done the same,as I know it is vital to take any opportunity to see people when know there are near the end of their life,to avoid regrets&give person opportunity to say their farewells &be at peace.
  7. 3a)We feel sad, discouragement, being let down when friends don’t stand by us,feel lonely, betrayed. We are made for relationship. We rely on companionship, fellowship, love, time spent together, support, fun, laughter, counsel, connection, and much more from friends. A true and trusted friend "deserting" us leaves a huge hole in our lives. It means grieving, and loss. b)We no longer have access to the life, that meant so much for us,and this leaves avoid. We suffer great loss of benefits of hope, friendship, support&encouragement of trusted friends when they move or die, part of us dies with them. c)It is good to discern carefully whom to trust, shielding ourselves from avoidable hurt&valuing greatly true christians friends&familyWe are meant for connection, though we can't trust everyone who comes into our live, d)The Lord."I will never leave you or forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5, NRSV, quoting Deuteronomy 31:6)
  8. 2a)The crown of righteousness represents the eternal reward, achieved at great cost to Jesus when our works in service are examined at Christ’s judgement seat and have shown righteousness.Jesus has cleansed us&replacing our filthy rags that come short of the glory of God b)To all those who have battled over many struggles likePaul enduring faithfully in service for Him,not giving up,but longing for the hope of glory at His returnRev3:11 holding fast to what we have so not robbed of our crown .c)For all we have done for Him in His strength, powered byHS to run the race before us, faith proven as endure hardships keeping eyes fixed on Jesus& giving God glory for His work in us.
  9. 1a)It means to press on keeping our eyes focusing on Jesus, yielding to his lordship, being obedient seeking to follow his leading and persevere even endurng hardship at times on the path that the Lord has set before us in &through the power of HS in us. b)To persevere through serious illness trusting in Jesus strength to sustain me. c)To give God the glory. Not claiming to persevere in own abilities, but trusting totally in the power of Holy Spirit working in me. Keeping faith, being faithful in witness&remaining true, not denying Jesus&his work on the cross, even when tempted. We are in spiritual battle&are urged to share gospel with others what ever opposition we face..
  10. 4a)Paul urges Timothy to serve faithfully ¬ be put off by others or own tiredness, but put into action all the gifts of teaching, sharing gospel with unbelievers He has been equipped&trained to do.He is encouraging him to continue to reach’&teach others. b)To teach&preach about Jesus&what he has done for us sinners. He is asked to not only to share gospel so they are saved, but to train them in the right way to live their lives. c)This has reminded me to not flag in the responsibility I have been given, but being self-controlled persist through hardship,in living as Jesus asks and using all opportunities given to me to share about hope, love&peace that can be found in faith in Jesus, whatever the cost to me.
  11. 3a)Paul wants Timothy to know importance of his the command&that he’s calling on heavenly powers to witness his request. I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels...." (1 Timothy 5:21),to be ready to share, teach, the Word, persistently,at all times that Jesus is the Messiah, saviour of all, and is the One whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead." (Acts 10:42).He wants Timothy to stand firm&speak with confidence in Christ. b)Paul knows his time is limited,&urges Timothy to refute actions of opposition, even when fearful, so all hearers are prepared for Christs return. He wants no oportunity to be missed&many given chance to be taught winsomly the gospel,be encouraged &equipped to pursue right path. UrgingTimothy to be persistent faithfully in this& not giving up when discouraged,or in apathy, whatever is going on around him."... While we wait for the blessed hope -- the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:13) and he urges Timothy to preach about Christ’s life&teaching, so that many will be saved &brought into the kingdom of God before Jesus comes again. c)He knows the task is not easy but requires great patience, persistence&is a serious calling convincing others of right path, correcting where they have gone astray. d)To continue learning,so I am more prepared to share accurately Christ’s messages with others using all opportunities given to me.
  12. 2a)All Scripture is God’s guidance essential equipment to equipping us in the right way to live that is pleasing to Him.He guides us through teaching, rebuking, correcting and training us to live more in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2Timothy3:15-17)) b)Scripture functions/carries with it the authority and power to command our daily actions.Through it God gives us His wisdom and by meditating on His word gives us the faith to come to Him in repentance, sorrow, with thanks and praise.
  13. 1a)All scripture OT&NT comes from God directly, we consider it as his breath, his word, his communication to us.Men wrote on parchment but the supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit on the Scripture writers enabled their writings to be an accurate record of the revelation and truth from Holy Spirit. "No prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:20-21) This resulted in what they wrote actually being the Word of God. b)Scripture we believe has as at it’s source God’s breath from which the Word is created/formed; it is given by inspiration of God.The source &authority of scripture is the Holy Spirit supernaturally influencing, divinely inspiring the writers.God Himself is the source not the instruments(men writers)used by God. God’s Breath means the Word is alive and is able to teach, train, correct, and inspire believers in His ways for ever."But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets...." (Acts 3:18) c)The doctrine of inspiration of Scripture we can believe because Jesus and the apostles also saw Scripture as divinely inspired. We believe that Scripture is God's Word because it claims to be that. And we believe its claims because Scripture is God's Word. The fact that it is God's Word, gives it the authority and inerrancy to be believed and to know with assurance that the Lord Himself is speaking through it when it is read."David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared...." (Mark 12:36) "The Scripture cannot be broken...." (John 10:35)"Until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:18)

  15. 4a)When we share about our faith,we are rejected, persecuted in some way,as following Christ is counter cultural. If we hold onto our faith even in times of testing, persecution&discomfort, our witness of our faith is greatest, when people see it as a living active faith of strength&perseverance through relationship with Jesus proven in hard times of testing. If we keep silent about our faith we allow fear of rejection to rule, avoiding the reality of discomfort when people don’t understand it, we are not being true witnesses of Christ’s love for us, and the freedom he brings us from the hold of sin, sickness&death. b)taking up his cross daily means to follow Christ surrendering our lives to Him each day,his will not ours to follow, allowing Christ to rule in our hearts, not fear, and living as he asks of us whatever the cost to us,loving God and our neighbour in our thoughts& actions, putting others first before ourselves giving God the glory. c)Jesus is saying following me is to be obedient to living in Jesus way of sacrificial love for others the only true life of love, the only way to the Father but that it is costly as it leads to being persecuted and rejected by a world that doesn’t accept it, but we have the hope of eternal life in glory to spur us on&Jesus presence in me now through HS to help us. I have known in my darkest moments physically in hospital, the greatest peace and spiritual strength trusting in Jesus. He has the victory and is my rock of peace too.
  16. 3a)It is easy for us to hear, read, speak about how we are meant to live as Christ’s followers, on sunday&other days - without actually daily putting the theory into practise, "The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick. Who can know, perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind." Jer. 17:9.It is easy to put self first, believing religion,as a list, but doing something else, disconnecting, even when speaking of Christ’s sacrificial love for us, putting others down, thinking we are better than them.. b)God is merciful, if we stay close to the Lord in our relationship with Him in prayer&study of his word, coming to him repenting of selfish thoughts/actions even as believers trying to live for Christ,He will rescue us&help us to inwardly change our thoughts&actions where needed. We are sinners saved by grace, and in His mercy He continues to rescue&saves all who call on his name daily, praise God.Being filled with the HS we are equipped with the power to transform our thought/actions guided by focus on Jesus &his care for others e.g giving others who are hurting the time, compassion& care needed, listening to their cries&sorrows with our eye&ears, even when they may caused us discomfort at some point
  17. 2a)As a christian teacher Paul asks us to behave with kindly feelings towards a person who offers opposing teaching, Resist being resentful, angry or trying to verbally beat them into agreeing with them, instead pray for them &humbly using patience, tolerance, discerning skill, gentleness &respect with help of HSguide&instruct them in God’s truth with a pure heart and clean conscience& spirit. We are asked to put aside our own sense of self-importance, gentleness, humility,,meeknesss, our ego’s, believing that we in our own strength and words are not verbally changing person into submission, but trusting God through HS is using our attitude and words to soften their hearts and change minds where needed. We know that our words alone don’t affect change, but that through the Word we teach God will do the convicting, convincing where needed & grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth. God’s word contains the power in itself to bring about change." If we don’t use these qualities of "gently instruct","correcting with gentleness",when dealing with quarrelsome false teachers, we divert focus from God back to us,arrogance, pride, arguments and wounded souls follow, we can make a situation worse, becoming like one of them, hardening the hearts of our opponents, and make their soil harder, less easily penetrated by God’s word.
  18. 1a)Use special plates, napkins, silver cutlery when special guests are due to demonstrate how specially loved,&/or respected they are to us. b)Everyday crockery&cutlery nothing fancy used on family days. c)Paul refers to different types of vessels, silver contrasted with a plain, wood or unglazed pottery bowl, both useful, have great pride in silver more "noble" (NIV), "special use" (NRSV), "honor" (KJV) is timē, "honor," "the respect that one enjoys, honor as a possession.". Plain bowl cannot transform self into beautiful vessel but we can.Paul is speaking about the cleansing we do for ourselves.fleeing from evil temptations that drag us down, so they no longer control our lives.God is at work, Jesus died to set us free from sin’s hold, but we are to discipline ourselves to make us really useful for Christ, chosing to do our part&seperate ourselves from contaminating things of this world. "If a person cleanses himself" (2:21a).Then we are ready more fit, for Christ’s purposes, like the silver articles. d)The only cleansing agent is the blood of Jesus who "when we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". God is looking for godly living as the special vessels every day of our lives, and not just on sundays or when people visit, .We are to ask the Lord and rely on His strength to avoid and flee from "contamination" from tv,peers influences etc and to pursue righteousness to avoid being less ready commonplace pottery, and be instead vessels that shine for Him,living holy lives while we are here and can be used to bring glory to His holy name. John 8:32 You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
  19. 4a)A skilled workman is especially diligent, taking great care in his work, Paul urges Timothy&us to give ourselves fully in teaching God’s word.to present our bodies as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1) in his word. seeking God's approval, not man's. b)Our responsibility is to please God, no matter what we need to suffer in the process.Shame before the secular world tempts Timothy& us to back off on his zeal (1:8). Paul reminds Timothy the alternative is shame before God. God will hold him to account.Correct interpretation of the Scriptures alone isn’t imt It is to faithfully teach and not veer from the Truth, quarreling about words (2:14), godless chatter (2:16), and false teaching (2:17-18) but be led by the Holy Spirit.
  20. 3a)They all have to persevere in training, enduring pain, hard sacrifice of commiting long often antisocial hours of regular discipline of exercise/diet pattern of whole life every day. b)Sport example speaks most to me,the endurance enables one to achieve results &be the best we can.Eating right food, having right sleep exercise&training pattern to achieve chosen goals. In Christian service we must practice self-discipline (1Cor 9:27); we must not fight with human carnal weapons, but with spiritual ones (2Cor 10:4); we must keep ourselves pure; and we must not strive, but be patient. Unfortunately many of us fall out before we reach the finish line, disqualified because as sinners we did not maintain an unquestioning obedience to the word of God!a man's whole life should be one strenuous endeavour to live out his Christianity in every moment and in every sphere of our lives.Christ is the victor, we achieve through his power in us."Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power" (Ephesians 6:10).Relying on the grace of God to give you strength for the situation."My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)"Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus" (2:1).
  21. 2a) Humanly people want to avoid pain of endutance&suffering.Endurance equals sacrifice, and today’s society is all about self. b)Timothy was naturally a more timid person,a character weakness of many. He’s also aware of past conflict in church already,so maybe not keen to create further rebellion. c)Consequence of suffering for the gospel is benefit for the kingdom of God.Individual’s faith is strengthened, proven and greater confidence in the Lord’s power.
  22. 1a)It’s impt to mentor teachers&elders to ensure the gospel&Christ’s teachings are faithfully saved&accurately passed onto our congregations.Paul says pastors need to invest in the future, for gospel to carry on.Need to identify as part of this process men&women anthropos ,generic word for human beings of either gender.who are i) faithful, dependable, reliable in what they'll do,Also for those who are ii)Worthy teachers (by their maturity and godly life,in sense the centurion doesn't feel worthy for Jesus to enter his house (Matthew 8:8)Those who are hikanos is "sufficient, adequate, large enough-pertaining to meeting a standard, fit, appropriate, competent, qualified," coonotation"worthy, good enough. Those who have been well taught in the truth and are able to stand up to the challenges of the Christian walk.Special time should be invested in these. b)Jesus spent the majority of his time nurturing /teaching his disciples, leaving administration to others. Therefore pastors should delegate admin &detailed planning to others suitably gifted.Everyone has a spiritual gift to be used keeping family of God vibrant &strong.
  23. 4a)Paul’s faith is in Jesus,he has complete confidence in him&his living intimate, personal relationship, with his saviour, the one in whom he has put his trust. He has spoken&prayed withChrist seeking to know him more full& preaches fearlessly with his confidence in Christ ,"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death...." (Philippians 3:10) b)Paul trusts God with his life, future ministry&death, guarding gospel which he is urgingTimothy to preach when he is gone.Jesus will remember faithful service of followers when he returns.
  24. 1a) Give them buckets load of affirmation, and encourage them God has a purpose for their life. Urge them to pray and study God’s word seeking the Lord with whole heart, for a reigniting of the flame for ministrythey were called to with whole heart, repenting of any faith faltering,,distractions, timidity or apathy. Look at what may be the focus of the lapse- our self&problems, tiredness.Receive healing where needed.Discern whether He is changing the direction, or wants to re-energise to servein same area . b)God gives the spiritual power through HS to rekindle ministry.Give thanks He is preparing one for his service again. c).Seek counsel, praye&encouragementr from other Christians.Believe God is faithful.Look for opportunities to serve as he creates rhem. Ask the Lord for a refilling of HS.He will give wisdom, leading and power through his Spirit for us to serve. Dwell in Me and I will dwell in you.
  25. 3a)Paul is urging Timothy to have a proper prospective &us to- to focus on sharing the amazingly positive message for people that Christ has come as a man&rising again from his death on cross to set us free from the penalty of death. He doesn't want him to be afraid to witness &be distacted by false doctrines or quarrels over minutiae&other opposing voices,He wants him to be emboldened in Christ’s power to overcome our timidity, opposing voices.Christ’s power will enable us to overcome any sufferings we are faced with, as we trust in Christ¬ our own resources. Thinking our inadequacies, sufferings are greater than His death is a form of pride! b)This truth of eternal life, freedom from hold of sin&decay, power, with grace to live life in all it’s fulness now is totally liberating, positive and life changing- nothing for us to be ashamed about. We should seek to be proud of Jesus not our inadequacies.
