  1. It is MOST important that a new Christian be an imitator of Christ to build a solid foundation in their walk with Christ. The kind of ministry most conductive to imitation is being Christ-like, showing love, kindness and grace. The character of a leader/mentor is important because their followers should be able to see the love of Christ within them as our brother Paul demonstrated daily. People do not grow very well who are not a part of the christian church. (Hebrews:24-25) "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (25) Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourge one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Character is important in my family and spiritual childern because they are most likely to follow my foot steps. It is most important that my character be good and Christ-like at all times.
  2. The Holy Spirit is necessary because: Without the Holy Spirit It would be impossible to have an effective ministry. If our ministry is just will-power and not the power through the Holy Spirit, our ministry would be fruitless. The role of miracles in Paul's evangelism were to demonstrate the Holy Spirit, to convince and bring them to Christ. If we saw miracles in evangelism today, I believe more people would come to Christ, however, some will not believe. What is hindering this is...unbelief.
  3. The Jews were jealous because some Jews and a large number of God-fearing Greeks, and not a few (many) prominent women joined Paul and Silas. Paul was convinced that Jesus had suffered and died, and had been risen from the dead. Paul remembered very clearly the encounter he had with JESUS on his way to Damascus. We should not stop our ministry because of a violent reaction. Today, we should continue as our Christian brothers and sisters who are jailed and in prision in China, Iran and other places in the world. Lord please give us strength, courage and boldness to stand up for you (CHRIST) in all circumstances.
  4. David prepared the temple after the LORD refused to let him build it because: -His son Solomon was young and inexperienced, and the house to be build for the LORD should be of great magnificence, and fame and splendor in the sight of all nations. David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the Temple and its worship by- -Writing the plan the Holy Spirit had put in his mind. Purchased the Temple site and stockpiled it with a huge supply of expensive raw material. -He developed order of worship for the Temple. Livites' main duty was to setting up and taking down and moving the Tabernacle. -Livites also supervise the construction of the Temple, to be judges of the kingdom, gatekeepers, singers and musicians. David's example in giving motivated others because of his generous gift.
  5. David choose the punishment of plague on the people because: -He believed that GOD would have mercy on him. David insisted on paying for the land because: -His sincere repentant to the LORD. -GOD would have mercy on him. How should this principle guide our own giving to the LORD? -We should give from our hearts -Giving should be a joy. -It all belongs to GOD.
  6. David described himself as: -One who was delivered from his enemies by the Lord. -Exalted by GOD the Most High. -The man anointed by the GOD of Jacob. David was a prophet in the sense of: -Oracle-God spoke to him. -He was inspired by God. The main message of verses 3-7: -GOD'S protection when we cry out to him. This psalm can guide government officials and elected leaders in our day if they would: -Seek GOD way in running the government. -Take a strong stand for what is right. -Not allow a few peoples to change the law-of- the land to justify their own behaviors.
  7. What I find inspiring in the language of this psalm is: God's rescue, His pure grace. With trust and faith in Him, He will rescue us in times of trouble and needs as He have rescued me and saved me from trouble many, many times. What encourge me most is God's grace. Titles and metaphors used of God in this psalm: He is my rock. God is my shield and the horn of my salvation. God is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior.
  8. 1. David's character is good. He did not kill Shimei for cursing him. He maintained his strong faith in God. 2. Joab was all for himself. 3. Joab faith was in himself. 4. TRUE friends are very important. 5. Joab was a FAIR WEATHER FRIEND to David. Joab had his own self-interest at heart.
  9. 1. David commanded mercy for Absolom because he loved him. 2. Joab killed Absolom against David's orders because: -Joab is loyal to David. -He believes he is right in killing David's enemy. 3. David's loud mourning threaten his kingdom by: -His troops walking away from David, leaving him weaker than before he fleed. 4. His followers were very loyalty to him, willing to die for him. 5. David faith is strong in God's mercy. Weakness: he fail to discipline his sons.
  10. 1. David flee Jerusalmen because he is not prepared to fight. And because of shortage of food and supplies and military weakness. 2. David's emotions during the retreat is: weeping, dismay, despair and submission to Yahweh. 3. David doesen't take the Ark into exile because: -The Ark is not David"s personal shine to take with him where ever he goes. -The Ark represents the presence and blessing of God. Also, he realizes the current threat is the Lord's discipline for his sins. -The Ark belongs to the capital city. 4. This exhibits his faith and submission. 5. This tell us David's faith in God is strong and he knows that God is with him and God is merciful.
  11. 1. David doesn't silence Shimei because: -David believe that the Lord told Shimei to curse him as part of God's judgement against him. 2. This is a spirtual decision. 3. This tell us David's faith is strong and he trust in God's mercy.
  12. The elements of Absalom's public relations campaign were to win the people over to him by: -Taking their hand, kissing them, empty promise and flattery. His effort is Very effective. David should have stopped Absalom public relations scam. Absalom exploits: David' lack of action, and being out of touch with the people.
  13. Joab's self-interest: Joab knew Absalom woud be next in line to become King. Maybe prevented a civil war. Maintaining his position as Commander in the army. David does not immediately show Absalom favor because of the people, and shamed because of Amon's death.
  14. I believe Davis was thinking of his own guilt with Bathsheba. The consequences of David's inaction lead to Absalom killing his brother, Amon.
  15. The punishment David deserve is Death. However, our loving God forgave him as he has forgiven us for our many sins. David family life was a calamity, 3 of his sons were killed, his daughter was rapped by her brother, one son took over David's kingdom and slept in public with David's concubines. King Solomon walk wasn't pleasing to the Lord in his later years. 2 Sam 7: 14-15. God promished to punish David if he did wrong but He would not take His love from him. David sins, our sins hurts God glory when we sin against Him. Our sins reflect on JESUS CHRIST when we sin against Him. JESUS CHRIST suffered and died for our sins.
  16. David had the power to kill Nathan if he had not accepted what he told him "you are that man." What device does Nathan employ get the king to listen to him? He use the story of a rich man taking a poor man's one and only lamb and preparing it for a traveling guest. David realized he was that rich man who was guilty of sleeping with Bethsheba and having her husband killed.
  17. Man is weak and is subject to fall into sin at anytime. Our human flesh is weak. We must stay strong in the Lord and flee temptation. Our human problem is-FLESH. David must REPENT.
  18. David honors Mephibosheth because of his love for Jonathan and kept the covenant he made with Jonathan. David is a man of his word.
  19. David inquired of the Lord before he attacked the Philistines--because he wanted God's approval. If David had not inquire of the Lord the second time before he attacked the Philistines--Most likely, he would have been defeated in battle. We often act independenly because we think we know the process to get things accomplished. We must ALWAYS ask God to protect us and guide us. How often do we get in our cars and drive off to our destination without asking God to protect us along the way, and prepare us for the peoples we will encouner each day? This says God knows all things. We only think we knows most answers. This says, we don't know. We only think we knows most answer.
  20. It was about 15 years since David was anoined king. I believe God was preparing David to take over by (letting him suffered at the hands of Saul) learning what it is like to live in unpleasant times. David knew his day was coming to pass. He had patience to wait. He also learned a lots on how to be a good king compared to Saul. I measure my own patience by waiting on God. I wait with faith. I have also learned, God doesn't need my help.
  21. Joab slew Abner to advenged the killing of his brother, Ashel. Joab is not justified in killing Abner. The slaying of Abner went against King David's plans to bring peace between the two kingdom. Joab is blind because he only wanted revenge for Abner's killing his brother. Our spritial blindness get in the way when we want to do things our way rather than God's way.
  22. God fulfilled his promise by punishing David and his decendants when they sinned. He sent His son Jesus Christ as He promised from the line of David. Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins. He now live's and will be on the kingdom for ever and ever. Thank you God Almighty for your son Christ Jesus who will forever rule this universe.
  23. After David sinned with Bathsheba he had her husband's Uriah killed, God dealt with David and his household: -The child that was born to Bathsheba and David died. -David's son Amnon fell in love with his sister Tamar and sexually rapped her. David's son Absalon killed his brother Amnon for rapping their sister, Tamar. -Absalom declared himself king and made David to flee from his kingdom. Absalom was later killed by David's army commander after he found him hanging from a tree branch. -David's son Adonijah declared himself king for less thana day. David placed his son Solomon on the thorne and made him king. -Solomon later had his older brother Adonijah killed because he asked to marry Abishag the Shunammite. So David house and his decendants did not escape God's wrath.
  24. The main promises of Davidic covenant were: -A dynasty, household, descendants of the house of David. -A son will build the temple. -An everlasting Kingdom. These promises are unconditional, they will NEVER change. Conditional makes a difference, because these promises could change (conditional is temporary). The promise most important to me as a christian is: -Everlasting, I will live in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ....for ever and ever!!!
  25. Nathan was quick to give David an answer because: He spoke quickly in the flesh and he knew God was with David. Nathan should have seek and answer from God before giving David his approval. The danger of leaders and followers too quickly approving major spritual directions without really waiting upon the Lord is: Most times it turns to be a disaster. I have experienced (disaster) in my life when I didn't wait for God's answer, also, I have experienced Great Results when I waited on the Lord's answer. David's Heart was right, but it was not the time. The timing was for his son, Solomon.
