  1. Q2. (1 Timothy 1:12-14) Why does Paul comment on his own life after a paragraph on the law (1:8-11)? Why does he share this with Timothy and the church that will read the letter? How might sharing this help get the church back on center? To show even though he knew the law he was deceived in his thinking, until Jesus poured out his mercy on him. He shared with them to show them the right track to follow. That even himself had to change his thinking and become a deciple of the lord. It isn't the law but the grace and mercy of God that saves.
  2. Q1. (1 Timothy 1:3-7) What were some of the results of false doctrine in the church at Ephesus? How does doctrinal controversy hurt the spirit of a church? How does it prevent growth? How does it keep the church from its mission? It causes controversy ,division, splits and false teachings leading to lack of growth spiritually. We can not spread the gospel unless we know the true word of God.
  3. Q5. (Rev 10:1-9) What is bitter about what you've read in Revelation 6 through 10? What is sweet? Why do we tend to reject what is hard for us to understand? What is bitter about what you've read in Revelation 6 through 10? The massive destruction and death of the plagues. What is sweet? The saved ones because they will be with God. There will be no more tears, hunger or thirst. God will be our light. Why do we tend to reject what is hard for us to understand? Its hard for our simple minds to grasp what we can't see, feel or touch.
  4. Q4. (Revelation 7:9-18). From this passage what do we learn about the kind of people who make up the "great multitude" before the throne? Let's not debate whether they are the 144,000 or not. But what is their origin? What does their spirit within them cause them to do? What does the first verse of the song "Amazing Grace" have to do with 7:14? what is their origin? They came out of the great tribulation. What does their spirit within them cause them to do? The spirt of God causes them to serve him day and night. What does the first verse of the song "Amazing Grace" have to do with 7:14? It shows that we were once lost but now saved.
  5. Q3. (Revelation 7:1-4) There's disagreement about exactly who the 144,000 represent. Let's not debate that, but look deeper. From 7:1-4 what do we learn about God? Read Ezekiel 9, then answer: What is this seal supposed to do for the 144,000? (Please wait to consider 14:1-5 until we get there, okay?) The 144,000 represent the church and the seal is the mark God placed on the saved for the time of destruction. You will either have the seal or the mark of the beast.
  6. Q2. (Revelation 6:9-11) What do we learn about the Church from what is revealed in the Fifth Seal? Where are these "souls" at the time of this scene? What does their proximity to the altar signify? Why were they killed? Why do they ask for vengeance? Is that a Christian prayer? What does the white robe represent? What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"? Its a time of persecution for the church. Where are these "souls" at the time of this scene? Their in Heaven below the alter. What does their proximity to the altar signify? They are in the presense of God. They were killed for maintaing their testimony. Why do they ask for vengeance? They pray for vindication and righteousness and the end of evil. What does the white robe represent? Righteousness given them by God.What do we learn from their instruction to "wait a little longer"? For us in todays church to wait and be faithful a little longer the end is not here yet but we will recieve our heavenly home when the time comes.
  7. Q1. (Revelation 6) Who initiates this great storm of destruction represented by the Seven Seals? Against whom is it directed? Is it just? The Lamb which is Jesus Christ. Those who persecute the Christians the unsaved. Yes because they have not repented and sked for forgiveness and Jesus to be their Savior. He must deal with wicked to have a new heaven and earth.
  8. Q5. (Revelation 5:13) What is the significance of the same quality of worship being offered to both God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son? What does this tell us about their relationship to each other? Their relationship to us? Because they are one in the same the trinity. They are father and son yet are God. They are our father. He said if you see me you have seen the father.
  9. Q4. (Revelation 5:10) How can our destiny as believers include reigning? In what sense could we reign? In what sense do we serve as priests? In what sense are we a kingdom? We are children of God thus co-heirs with Jesus. Thus we will reign with him in heaven. We are priests now spreading the gospel of Jesus. We are a kingdom in the sense that we are the body of christ.
  10. Q3. (Revelation 5:9, 12) What made Jesus so worthy of opening the scroll and thus bringing history to its consummation? Why was this act so noteworthy and praiseworthy? He is God. He is without sin. He is the unblemished lamb that was the supreme sacrifice for our sins. He defeated death and satan on the cross. Only the creator and the one who loved us this much could be worthy.
  11. Q2. These chapters contain many insights into worship that have been adopted by the Christian Church. What do you learn about Christian worship from chapters 4 and 5? Don't miss the basics. Your list might include 20 elements and concepts of worship -- or more. We worship by prayer, singing, fellow shipping with God. Giving all the glory to God. Bringing everything to God.
  12. Q1. Many Christian hymns, songs, and choruses come from Revelation chapters 4 and 5. Which can you think of? Victory in Jesus,Worthy is the Lamb,Holy, Holy, Holy,Worthy is the Lamb and there are lots more.
  13. Q5. Summarize the lessons of this chapter. What are the churches criticized for? What are they praised for? How should these observations shape the twenty-first century Church? They forgot their first love Jesus Christ. They became prideful, boastful, and wishy washy in their faith. Not holding fast to the teachings of God. Some were praised for their endurance and holding stead fast to the things that are right and true. The modern church should learn from their mistakes and listen to what Jesus is telling them and do what he says to do. Then they wil get on the right path and stay there.
  14. Q4. Why are so many churches a "hotbed of apathy"? How can we combat spiritual apathy and an insipid witness in ourselves? They are not living the Christian life or doing the work Jesus has planned for us. They go to church on sunday then the rest of the week they live a life of this world not of God. Thier bible sits on a shelf. People don't see Jesus in them. We have to give our self over to God he has to be the ruler of our lives we are slaves to him. We must know his word and what he wants us to do and follow his commands.
  15. Q3. Why do you think the religious compromise required by participating in heathen religious practices in the trade guilds was so spiritually destructive? What compromises do twenty-first century Christians struggle with? Let's not settle for trite legalisms about drinking and smoking. What are the real compromises that dilute vital Christianity? Worshiping these other gods and idols. Lead them from Jesus and his teachings thus leading them to the things of the pagans. I think the real compromises of today are money, material things of this world. People wanting want others have. Thus taking them from what counts the treasures we store up in Heaven.
  16. Q2. Why would loosening of sexual standards to conform to the prevailing morals of the culture be destructive of vital Christian faith and witness? How has your culture tended to take the edge off your own Christian moral convictions or forced you to be quiet about them? I would say you would begin to put those things before God thus they would become your focus of worship. They would be your god. God says you shall have no other God. You can't worship two gods at the same time you will love one and hate the other. What you put first is your god. The moral decay in this country has become acceptable behavior thus leading people away from God. People get afraid to talk about Jesus for fear of being laughed at or loosing friends.
  17. Q1. How can a local congregation lose its "first love" for Jesus? What are the signs of genuine love for Jesus in worship and ministry? How does the lack of love show up? How can a congregation regain this love? When the church turns from the teachings of Christ to the ways of the world. A church that sticks to the true teachings of God. They are a true bible teaching church. They are in the word. Repent and get back to the bible and teaching what it says not what man wants to hear.
  18. Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? (1:12-20) What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? The lamp stands are the churches and he is the head of the church.
  19. Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? (1:12-20) What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? I think it shows he is the leader of all. That he walks amoung us. That he is in charge and in control.
  20. Q4. The vision of Christ among the lampstands (1:12-20) is much different than the Carpenter-Teacher who walked the roads of Galilee and Judea. Why? What overall emotions is this vision of Jesus among the lampstands designed to evoke in the reader? Why is this understanding of Jesus important to a balanced faith? When he was a teacher he was depicted as a loving kind Jesus. In Rev. he is a strong, powerful Jesus here to judge. I think it evokes fear but also joy knowing awaits us. We need to understand both sides of him so we know he is loving but will judge. That there is truly a heaven an hell.
  21. Q3. In what countries are Christians presently experiencing tribulation or persecution for the faith? How can the Book of Revelation be a comfort and encouragement to them? Chins,Korea,Indi a,Indonesia many muslim countries. They are tortured and killed. In the USA they are trying to take God out of everything but we can still worship together. I think the time is coming when we will start to lose a lot more. We are in the end times. It is a comfort because Jesus says if we stand fast fast we will be with him in Glory and our rewards are in heaven.
  22. Q2. What does this tell us about the Father? The Father is the speaker here in 1:8 and in 21:6. But Jesus is the speaker in 1:17 and 22:12-13. What is the significance of this for our understanding of who Jesus is? God is the first and last the creator thus being the head of all. Jesus also says he is the Alpha and Omega. Making himself one with God. He will be the head of the new kingdom, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
  23. Q1. Revelation is written to encourage and strengthen a church facing intense persecution. Why is the theme of testimony and witness so important to that purpose? How is Jesus as the "faithful witness" (1:5) supposed to encourage us? Why are we afraid to be clear witnesses in a culture where we aren't persecuted? Jesus is the best witness you can have. He is testifing to things that are to come and you can trust in him. We are afraid to be put down or made fun of.
  24. Q4. (Romans 8:35-36) What kinds of perils were the early Roman Christians likely exposed to? What kinds of perils are Christians exposed to today? How does this passage reassure us? In what sense do we Christians "overwhelmingly conquer" (NASB) despite the obstacles we face? Death by such means as fire, lions and other such tortures. Today some our murdered and tortured. In the USA they are ridiculed and some are trying to take our rights away as Christians. They are trying to silence us through court actions and legislation. We have a lot od religious freedoms at this time but I believe this will change. Persecution will increase as the time of Christ Jesus return draws closer. We are in the end times. We have the victory in Christ which can not be taken from us. Our eternal salvation is guaranteed. He is for us therefore who can be against us.
  25. Q3. (Romans 8:31-32) What is the significance of the statement: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Who might our enemies be? What is the evidence presented that God is for us? How does this statement make you feel? How does it affect hope? How does it allow you to act? What might: "...graciously give us all things" refer to? God is more powerful than anybody with him on our side no one can defeat use or bring us down, not even the devil. The awesome fact that he loved us so much that he willing gave his only son so us how much he is for us. It makes me feel loved, encouraged, that with God i can get through anything. It gives me great hope because i know the future is secure my eternal life is guaranteed. He gives us all things out of love with no strings attached. We will share the Heavenly realm with his son.
