The warning is that there will be no warning ! We are to be ever prepared for the Lord's coming and not be caught sleeping.

Coming like a thief is coming at the least expected moment. Christ will come suddenly and those who are not prepared will be left behind. The faithfuls will not be taken by surprise as they would be prepared but the rest of us who are still partying and continue to sin will be caught off-guard as He" comes like a thief'

Really they are none . Jesus said "Behold, I come like a thief!" We do not know and usually have no warning the thief is coming, if we had known we  would have kept watch and would not have let the house be broken into. We can be warned as we are warned by the bible but we can not know the the time.

 

To come like a thief means to come unannounced and catch the owner by surprise.

I feel that we will have no warnings at all when Christ returns to earth. He will sneak in at the designated time. However, Nobody will know when that time is going to be. People will actually feel secure in their lives. There will be no sense of anything wrong.

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3, upon Christ return there will be no warning, he will come as a thief in the night.

The meaning of coming like a thief means if we knew when a thief were coming we would wait for him and subdue him. But we know not when a thief comes, so Christ will come as thief, we know not when. Be ready at all times.

What does it mean that he will "come like a thief"? It means that Jesus Christ will come unexpectedly. Christ’s second coming will be without further warning. Christ will come suddenly. We may know the season of his coming, but not the exact time. Unexpectedly and without notice. Would come suddenly. Keep watch. You must be ready because the son of man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Belief in Christ’s soon coming should cause us to watch our behavior.

This passage refers to a time where they shall say,  "Peace and safety" KJV, and then sudden destruction, and we know it is before this destruction that Jesus will return. Paul states it clearly that nobody knows the time or the season ( although other scripture describes the season)  but we know the signs, and as it unfolds we grow in our anticipation for His glorious return and reuniting with our Saviour.

A thief comes when you least expect it, and what I find interesting is that if you relate to any thief, and he gives you clear clues as to when he will come and take your precious belongings, don't you think you will be sure to watch out for these clues, and then be prepared to catch him or prevent him from doing this? I think you would, yet we as Christians can be ignorant at times and not keep up our guard despite these "clues". We do not know the time , neither did Jesus, only the Father, and we must be on guard and keep watch because it will happen.

"Peace and safety" will be heard.  Mistakingly people will think by getting rid of Israel will be no further wars (Zechariah 14).   Vainly they think a period of peace and prosperity is on the horizon, but the Lord will come suddenly when Jerusalem is half taken and sudden destruction will be on all the nations at Armageddon (Zechariah 14; Joel 3; Revelation 19:11-21.

Unbelievers are going to be in a state of inertia, life for many will continue and resist the conviction power of God.   But the wrath of God will occur suddenly much to the surprise of many.

LIke a thief, Christ's second coming will be stealthy, unexpected and (for unbelievers) unwelcome. 

Believers, however, leave their windows open for the "thief." They want to be surprised and are eager for the end to come. I don't agree that Jesus will come during times of peace, not war -- it seems that the element of surprise can be maintained during any time of life and any season of political turmoil. Frankly, I've always thought of the end times as a crescendo of horrors culminating in the rapture, a welcome respite.
