Q20. Peacemakers

Recommended Posts

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

Love is the tool that is needed to sow peace. Loving the Lord and each other prepares 'the land' to receive the crop. It is the removal of so many obstructions in the soil. If the soil is prepared in love the seed can be nourished and grow. The crop grows in the person that loves and the person loved. :)

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

James 3:17-18(Ampl)- 17But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [it is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).

18And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God's will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts].

ANSWER:

1. With what tool do peacemakers sow peace?

Peacemakers sow peace by showing love, being considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit - by keeping a watch on the mouth! This attitude produces a ripening crop of righteousness because it is the attitude of God/Jesus. This crop of righteousness grows in the sower of God's love.

You sow peace with peace. "Peacemakers," not merely they who reconcile others, but who work peace. "Cultivate peace" [ESTIUS]. Those truly wise towards God, while peaceable and tolerant towards their neighbors, yet make it their chief concern to sow righteousness, not cloaking men's sins, but reproving them with such peaceable moderation as to be the physicians, rather than the executioners, of sinners [CALVIN]. Righteousness is the result of sowing peace; it is produced because once you sow peace and stop strife, competition you have used wisdom from above and you are right with God and with others.b This grows in the children of God. Those whom put their faith and trust in The Lord Jesus Christ.

Peacemakers sow peace with their words and their actions. If the seed they sow falls on receptive ground, it ripens and grows in their followers. It also grows in those who sow because conditions for growth are there for both. The teacher learns from the learner.

The tool that peacemakers use to sow peace is love. This produces a ripening crop of righteousness because love is pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. These things will grow in us.

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace?

Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Love is the key, the tool, if you like, that we use to sow seeds of peace. Love has to be the cornerstone of any relationship we build if we want to be Christ-centered.

Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness?

Godly love results in righteous living and peaceful relationships with others.

In whom does this crop grow?

Righteousness will grow in anyone who humbly submits to God's will, loves the Lord his God, and loves his neighbor as himself.

Of course it is love.  A love that requires a relationship with Christ.  It is a different type of love.

It produces a ripening crop of righteous as we are transformed by this love that has been first lavished on us.

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

Peacemakers sow through love, mercy, and good deeds. The production of the ripening crop of righteousness first begins in the believers who practice sowing peace and then has the potential of effecting the lives they touch.  I say potential because unless a person gives their lives over to the supervision of the Holy Spirit nothing spiritual happens.

In sum, this crop of peace grows in whom allow it to grow.

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

Peace makers use the gift of peace to end strife, whether between people or nations.

Peace that is sown in good faith brings a ripening crop or harvest of righteousness. Peace brings mercy to oppressed and preserves laws and moral standards among people.

The people to whom this peace is offered are the ones who benefit from it provided they can remain in peace among themselves.

Q4. (3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

Love

If we have God's love in us we will grow in love for God and others and not desire the work of the flesh. We will desire to live righteously through the help of the Holy Spirit to please our Lord.

Love that is not selfish grows in the redeemed heart through the work of the Holy Spirit.

God bless!

I believe the tool of the peacemakers is the Word of God. It works within you and me to produce fruit, that is faith. The Word of God cuts to the heart making believers righteous. Changing their hearts to attain the love that tames our tongues.

With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

As much as I truly wanted to see similarities in the two lists, I was struck, immediately, by their differences. Love doesn't seem to be equivalent to wisdom, at least to me, but the two must work synergistically in the soul and character of the believer.

James' list (as well as Paul's) can be seen as dividing along the line of personal qualities not contingent on relationships with others (pure, good fruit) and social attributes that require relationships (peace-loving, considerate, impartial, merciful). James' list stresses the social.

The love list seems to have more to do with one's character -- personal qualities, that is -- than our social relationships in the body of Christ. This surprises me because I thought love, by definition, was social -- one loves another person or God Himself.  Love requires an "other," right? Yet, many of the traits listed are hidden character traits only God sees and knows. Hope and perseverance, for example.

--

To directly answer your question, Sir, peace comes from strength. It's not mere capitulation. One has to be strong to submit willingly, to be considerate to people who are not considerate in return, to grow good fruit in desiccated social groups, etc.

Q20. (3:17-18)
With what tool do peacemakers sow peace?
Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness?
In whom does this crop grow?
It is through heavenly wisdom, which is a free gift of a gracious God, that peacemakers sow peace. With this wisdom from above, they get a pure heart full of love, and it’s with this love that they live peaceably together, actively concerned for harmony and unity. Their pure hearts are being filled, with the fruits of true wisdom: peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, good fruit, impartial, and sincere. Living together in a righteous way their behaviour towards each other will be Godly, bringing glory to our Heavenly Father, and the result will be harmonious relationships. The final outcome will be a ripening crop of righteousness, because they are living in obedience to the will of God. The crop grows in the hearts of the peacemakers themselves, as they become more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ. Their heavenly wisdom will be noticeable in their behaviour, their deeds, and their attitude. Combining the care for righteousness with attempts at making peace, will result in blessings and increased grace leading to the reward of eternal life.

Q4.When we ask God in humility to take away our bitter envy and selfish ambition we can then ask God for Heavenly wisdom. James tells us in chapter 1 v 5 If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. This wisdom is not worldly wisdom but Heavenly wisdom which is pure , then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. It can be summed up in the word ‘ love’. God will give this to all who ask for it.

Q20. (Q20. (James 3:17-18) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?) With what tool do peacemakers sow peace? Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness? In whom does this crop grow?

When someone thinks he has the correct opinion on some issue, he is tempted to argue with anyone who voices a different opinion. That is human nature, and human nature will have its way unless restrained by humility. But a good rule throughout life is, never argue. In any argument, you are either right or wrong. If you are wrong, you should not expose your ignorance. If you are right, the truth will survive whether or not you defend it. Even if you are trying to convince someone to believe God or to do His will, you accomplish nothing by arguing. As soon as you encounter unyielding resistance, you should back off, recognizing that the working of the Spirit will be more effective than your words. It grows in us

Q20. (James 3:17-18)

With what tool do peacemakers sow peace?

Why does this produce a ripening crop of righteousness?

In whom does this crop grow?

The tool used by peacemakers is humility, which is characteristic of WISDOM.  Humility, swims as it were, in love.  So looking deeper into the picture, at the heart of humility is LOVE.

The characteristics of this WISDOM, among others are; peace loving, courteous, considerate, gentle, compassion. This is righteousness.

God's will is that there is love and peace among us. That there is harmony.

As the peacemakers continue in humility, the fruit that is reflected soon has an inspiration on those around (the actual original trouble makers) The situation can get reversed.

The tool that peacemakers use to sow peace is through conversation/conduct. How you treat others matters and once this is modeled to others they have the opportunity to treat others in the same way. The fruit of righteousness is sown in the peace of them that make peace.

Peacemakers sow peace with Love and produce a harvest of righteousness.  Love needs to displace selfishness in our hearts.

When our heart is changed by love, our tongue changes and we can produce a crop of righteousness.   We are no longer filled with selfishness, we are filled with selflessness.  We may have slip ups but we can ask the Lord to help us.   A scripture I say is " Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight Oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."  Psalm 19:14

The crop of righteousness grows in peacemakers.
