Old Jerry Posted July 17, 2013 Report Share Posted July 17, 2013 We should approach the “throne of grace” with boldness and confidence because we have a High Priest that is sympathic to our cause and has been through everything that we have and even more. We have been promised mercy and we will find grace that will help us in time of need. The basis that God has to be able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace for our sins while still retaining his justice as judge is Jesus Christ. We should and can approach the "Throne of God" with boldness and confidence because we know that Christ suffering and death satisfied God's justice for our sins. Thus Jesus is our mediator before the throne of Grace, he has covered our sins with his blood. We have received mercy, being justified and sanctified, we come before God the Father in our prayers and supplications. The promises of Hebrews 4:16 is that we can approach the throne with out fear of death because of our sinfulness. We can approach the Throne with boldness, confidence, courage and fearlessness. Because Christ has provided us with salvation through his suffering and death, our faith and trust in him we can receive unrestrained mercy and grace from God, but though we can are forgiven, God is still judge for justice over all. God hears only the prayers of the righteous, of those who are walking in his word and doing his will. He answers our prayers according to his will and we need to understand that when we kneel and pray. He is able to offer us unrestrained mercy and grace based on our FAITH!! His judgement is not for his people who are doing his will and have had their sins washed away, but a reminder of what is in store for us if we should neglect and turn from our faith. This book, Hebrew was written to such a people, a people who was turning from the faith that they professed. It is a plead for them not to forget and turn from the faith of their ancestors. We should approach the throne of grace with those because the Lord has given us mercy and grace instead of condemned us for our sins. We can approach Him knowing that He won't judge us and condemn us for what we do until later. We also can be sure that He will help us no matter what. The basis of Jesus' blood. Mercy , grace, help in time of need as we approach God and ask for help. Jesus already bore the full brunt of God's wrath for our sins. Those who reject this gift will unnecessarily face eternal punishment because they dishonor and reject God's perfect offer of salvation. "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (4:16) Knowing Jesus for who He is, through His word and prayer, gives us confidence, because God is faithful to those He has called, He knows we will evolve and trust Him more and more. Its a process all believers go through. We are humble servants, all of us, brothers and sisters in faith, under His grace and mercy, paid for by Jesus own blood and suffering. We must believe that we're saved by Jesus' blood and sacrifice, that we can do nothing to pay for our sins, He has already done it once and for all! And we recognize, as humans we'll fail and learn to repent.
