Q2. (Luke 17:22-24) What do Jesus' words about lightning teach us about the nature of the coming of his Kingdom?

This teaches us that when Jesus returns, His Power and presence will be evident to everyone. No one will need to spread the message because all will see for themselves. Christ

Lightning tends to occur near the beginning or end of most storms (troubles within the earth). Typically the discharge of electricity is accompanied by thunder, oftentimes more than one of our senses are aware that it is lightning. Regardless of comprehension levels or earthly impairments, just as when lightning appears it is seen or known, all will see Jesus at His appearing. There is as well a suddenness, lighting appears in a flash, no man knows the day nor the hour when He will return. We don't really prepare for lighting it happens and it is observed, however Jesus repeatedly tells believers to be ready. He wants Believers to live in a way so that in His coming they will meet Him in peace.

When lightening appears, it is seen far and near by many. Jesus told his hearers that the coming of the kingdom of God's Son will be like lightening that is visible to all. It will not be a secret known only by a few. There is therefore no need to be searching out for him or asking others. All will see him.

Q2. (Luke 17:22-24) What do Jesus’ words about lightning teach us about the nature of the coming of his Kingdom?

As the Lighting, lights up the sky, Jesus will light up the sky with all power and glory, on his return. It will not be done in secret, it will be for the whole world to see. Jesus will arrive with the blast of the trumpets. In the meanwhile, we are to beware of those claiming to be the Messiah, Jesus return will be evident to everyone.

Jesus's second coming will be a world-wide phenomenon, visible to everyone living on Earth at that time. The lightning allegory also indicates that it will be sudden and dramatic . . . and spontaneous, since we never know exactly when lightning is about to flash. We should be aware of the times so that we have a reasonable expectation that He will come . . . As in an electrical storm when we know there will be lightning but just not exactly when or where it will strike, so we should observe the times, signs and indicators that Jesus and the New Testament writers gave us.
