The leader is working in behalf of God, and we should listen to him. Sometimes, leaders do something nonscriptural, or invent an extra scripture - then they don't act on behalf of God. Then we complain against them in person, and not to our Lord. Well, the words are spoken to them! I think they have to realize, and to read about Moses to see he had the same problem. This might encourage them. And then they have to pray that the Spirit helps them?

People grumble and complain when they are disappointed, afraid, ... If we have fear, we grumble - but if we have faith, we pray God to take the negative emotion away. Well, I often grumble - and then I only feel more negative. Clearly it doesn't work to make one feel better. Well, stop grumbling, and pray/praise/sing instead.

Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 3. Passover and Crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 12-15)
Q1. (1 Corinthians 5:7; John 1:29; 1 Peter 1:18-19) In what sense is Christ our Passover Lamb? In what sense are we marked with his blood? In what sense does God -

Q2. The Courage to Confront
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Finding Courage to Stand (Exodus 5-11)
Q2. Why is it so difficult for some church leaders to confront people? What fears in this regard does a leader face? How can confrontation and rebuke be a good thing? What happens when we refuse to confront when we should? Some leaders might be afraid that people get angry. People have the power to dismis the leaders. It's their job to tell what is wrong! Then the wound starts to rot. Repentence is essential. We need to know our sins, in order to understand Jesus' offer. -
Q1. Blaming and Resisting God
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 2. Finding Courage to Stand (Exodus 5-11)
God gave an order, Moses obeyed, and therefore he got in trouble. Last week, a Dutch missionar was killed in Kenya, and his wife was raped. If they would have stayed home, they would have been save now. So listening to God can ruin your life. I guess Moses and his brother had fear for what faraoh could do to them. Sometimes fear can paralyze us. Therefore God had to command them again. -
Q4. Fear and Courage
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. The Birth and Call of Moses (Exodus 1-4)
2 Sam 22:30/ Ps 18:30 "For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall." We might be afraid we can't do it. Or we rather do something else. Pray? Fear is an unpleasant emotion; courage is when you deal with it in a positive way. When you have fear, but do something anyway. Yes, courage is required. without courage you become passive, and don't achieve a thing. -

Q2. Moses Responds to God's Call
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. The Birth and Call of Moses (Exodus 1-4)
True humility is when you have a good image of yourself, but even though know that you're nothing compared to G-d. A good example is the apostle Paul. Moses just has a negative image of himself. He also has a lack of faith, like if even G-d can not make him do something right. G-d can reassure us by sending us help. He doesn't take the task away, but makes it easier. -
Q1. Moses the Murderer
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 1. The Birth and Call of Moses (Exodus 1-4)
Q1. (Exodus 2:11-15a) What do we learn about Moses' motivations, character, and leadership ability from the incident of him killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster? What positive things do you see in his character? What negative things do you discern? Moses' motivation here is anger. Apparently he has no self control. At this time, it would make him a bad bad leader - -
Q3. Trivial Excuses
Marloes replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in 10. The Call to the Kingdom (Luke 14:12-24; 9:57-62)
There are no valid excuses. Nothing is more important than our Lord. The call is urgent because we might be dead tomorrow and then it's too late to repent. -

It means that God is a glorious God. He's done something great, because of which He deserves respect. He's not something small that we can ignore. Paul writes about the Spirit who can fill us with God.

Holy means that God is seperated from us. He's greater and higher than we are. We should behave worthy. Paul writes that christians can become holy/ with God too.
