Q4. Christian Citizenship
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Pressing Toward the Goal (Philippians 3:12-4:1)
It has everything to do with who we are & what we choose to do--always having in our mind our real home and the values of things on earth do not compare. Our desires are of the Lord--not physical things. God wants us to honor those who have fought for our country. It does not take away from our worship of God. He died for us to pay the price for our sins. Freedom is not free. -
Paul has the boldness because his life shows what he speaks. He is so submitted & committed to Christ, he is able to show others the way. I feel I fall short often... He uses imitation as a natural means to learning--as we do from our parents as children. It also implies a deeper relationship with the person. And all have a deeper relationship with Jesus as a result. Children, friends......

Q2. The Upward Call of God
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #7. Pressing Toward the Goal (Philippians 3:12-4:1)
It is a challenge--not to be satisfied with where you are--desiring more & more of Jesus. Yes, our relationship gets deeper and deeper. His call becomes dim when we move away from the place where we have the deeper walk with Him. Ask Him. Study His Word daily, pray, join with others, praying & studying, examine yourself. Live IN Him and be fruitful! -
Q4. Knowing Christ
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
To know Him and His sufferings, to try to get a handle on how vast His love is for me, really understand all He suffered for me--to have the mind of Christ. Without faith you could not get to know Christ. It's a personal relationship with our loving Lord. It is impossible without faith-our faith can grow, however. It has been years, yet there is so much more!!.......Praise God--I grow til I go to be with Him! -
Q3. Righteousness through Faith
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
Righteousness by law is dependent on what we do--our behavior. Righteousness by faith is looking to Jesus to be covered in His righteousness--not doing but being. It really doesn't much, praise God! Society in general want to earn their salvation--righteousness by deeds. We all seem to think we need to do something--or it isn't real..... -
Q2. The Obstacle of Pride
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
He couldn't be neutral about it--it wasn't about Paul it was about Jesus and any thing that took the place of the glory of God was to be treated as foul. He wanted to totally rely on God, not on his credentials. Especially when witnessing--making you holier than thou..... -
Q1. Confidence in the Flesh
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #6. That I May Know Him (Philippians 3:1-11)
I'm sure it exists in our church because it has existed with me. I don't think any of us are perfect, but we are growing closer to Jesus each day. We all fall at times and have to be brought back on track. Sometimes we just have to examine ourselves to see if we are doing things in the flesh or if we're led by God.... -
They had a problem honoring each other and those who were sacrificing themselves for others. They were only looking at Timothy's age--not the fruit of his life. They were ready to give him trouble about being to young to be in control--But Jesus was really in control of His life and he continued to need to depend wholly on Him. The church needed to recognize he too, was a servant of the Lord. Get your eyes off yourselves and give honor to those serving for Him.

Q4. Do Struggles Honor God?
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4. God Is at Work in You (Philippians 2:12-18)
You do it all with & for the Lord. It is our sacrifice to glorify Him. It is an honor to suffer as Jesus did. I know Christians in countries where it is costly to follow Jesus. and that is what they say. -
Q2. Shining as Stars
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4. God Is at Work in You (Philippians 2:12-18)
They will be able to see peace and love. They will see us and our good works & love to others and it all points to Jesus--the light of the world. I guess it is pretty common, so I will not say our church is perfect. But we work at not being argumentative or complaining. We don't want to sully our witness. -
Q1. Work Out Your Salvation
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4. God Is at Work in You (Philippians 2:12-18)
It is letting God work in you in growing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Salvation was the first step. Spending time in the Word and in prayer and obeying God is how we can add to our growth. -
Q4. Exalting the Humble
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Worry about this is spending too much time thinking about ourselves & rewards. The humility seeks to love others and care for them--putting ourselves on the back burner--always with God in our headlights. impatience can lead to nothing good. -
Q3. Jesus the Human Being
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Jesus was fully human. But He was fully God as well. No sin found in Him. A world of difference--Only a sinless human being could take our punishment on the cross. -
Q2. Equality with God
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Jesus had all power, authority, strength, foreknowledge--is the King of Kings yet did not use them for His benefit. His heart was set on obeying His Father. Equal with God. -
Q1. Humility and Unity
charisbarak replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3. He Emptied Himself (Philippians 2:1-11)
Humility is necessary or we would be self-seeking in all we do. Divisions caused by one person demanding attention and right status around us. Serve and pray for others. Keep reminding myself--less of me--more of HIM. -
Our eyes are not on Him. We count our lives dear to us. Imagine witnessing with your eyes on yourself...... Our fear keeps us from believing we have Christ's power available to us. Again, eyes on self. When we surrender our wills to Him each day, He is able to do great things through us--bringing Him the glory! Not fear--laziness...I have to ask myself, do you love these people who are heading to hell enough to share with them Christ's wonderful gift of salvation? Then I tell myself, this is the eternal fruit we can strive for.
