  1. A sign of the covenant between God and Abraham and others and serve as a covenant to time indefinite. Because the covenant begins with Abraham and men that follow. That he is obedientto God and accept the covenant.
  2. Regardless of your feelings and affections about someone, you do not take up with someone else's mate but if it does happen you are to go and humble yourself to God and to the afflicted one. To become more active in going to worship but working hard at it and praying for guidance and strength.
  3. Because he is God of Sight.......He sees all and knows all.....what a wonderful assurance that is. They feel lost, that no one cares and that God has abandoned them and does not love or care about them. Feeling of all is lost. Used to feel unloved by God because of all the many things that has happened in my life, felt I was being punished for something and did not know what. But just knowing that God sees all and knows all means that he knows and sees everything that is happening with me and in time there will be justice done for it.
  4. To see if Hagar would tell the truth to God because the angel is his voice. To have Hagar humble herself to Sarah. Always tried to stay righteous and true but there's one time when my congregation was not totally righteous that I left and never went back nor went back to any other congregation because I felt that all were the same.
  5. Sarah became angry with Abraham because he had relations with Hagar and she became pregnant as a result but the anger was misplaced because Sarah is the one who put Abraham and Hagar together. It was also out of jealousy and embarrassment on Sarah's part because she could not give Abraham a child. Abraham told Sarah that Hagar was at her disposal and to do what was good in her eyes and from there Sarah humilated Hagar. Sarah is trying to get rid of Hagar. In my opinion Abraham should have not taken up with Hagar regardless what his wife suggested. Knowing how his wife felt when Hagar became with child he did not take a stand on Hagar's behalf. Because Abraham laid down with Hagar and she had feelings for Abraham and a baby was created through this action. He did not explain to her why he as with her. Similar situation but there was not a child involved but the affections from the other woman was known but nothing was done about it from the mate's side and the actions from the other woman esccalated.
  6. Why did God go through the covenant ritual with Abraham, with the divided carcasses? So Abraham could truly understand what is to become. To show him also that his seed will become an alien residen in a land not of theirs and they will have to serve them. Why does God bind himself to a solemn promise? God binds himself to a promise because he does not lie and what words comes from his mough is truth, divine truth. How does Abraham respond to God's promises (15:6)? Abraham responds by asking Sovereign Lord by what shall I know that I shall take it in possession? What promises has God made to us that affect our futures? God's promises us a new heaven, new earth, and that his Son will crush Satan and his followers. With this should and does give us hope that this wicked system will end soon. What promises has God made to us that affect our futures? We sare not to go out and kill an animal or anything to offer sacrifice but we are to give our soul (offer up ourselves) to God. Jesus gave his life so that we may have everlasting life (a ransom), therefore, we give our soul to our heavenly Father.
  7. Have you ever been frustrated with God for not fulfilling his promise to you immediately? I am ashame to say that I have been frustrated with God for not fulfilling his promise immediately. Knowing that things happen in their own time just did not get my attention. Being in severe health and pain constantly and wanting it to go away "right now" was only on my mond. But the fact is there's a reason for the suffering and when the last days come and Paradise is here on earth then and only then will my and everyone's suffering will cease to exist. Why does God sometimes delay the fulfillment of his promises to a future time? To give each and eveyone of us time to make that ultimate decision and to gain knowledge and truth. If the fulfillment would happen at this moment, there would be alot of people that are not ready to face that time and judgment.
  8. That Abraham has put his faith in God and because of that faith it counted towards him as being righteous (exercising faith). In Romans 4:11 while in uncircumcision pronounces Abraham father of all those having faith.
  9. To personally call God my "shield" is caling him my "protector". Being blessed to have someone or something to carry on for me. God will bless me with wonderous things. Calling God "Sovereign" means to me is "God exercises supreme power".
  10. Abraham did not want the King to claim that he made him rich. Tells us that Abraham was not honoring the King of Solom but honoring God The Most High. No one is greater than the Father. If we are to give honor or praise it should be to God not man.
  11. When Abraham gave 1/10 to Melchezedek it was so he would not owe him anything. It was payment for the food eaten by men and for their services with rescuing Lot. We should tithe to God first because it is showing God that he is first in our lives and giving back to the Kingdom of God.
  12. Shows that Abraham was organized in order to gather up his slaves to rescue his brother Lot. Also shows that Abraham had brotherly love for Lot. He used the skills that he was blessed with. Abraham loves his neighbors as he loves himself. We must emulate brotherly and sisterly love to our neighbors and help them to the best of our ability. We must treat others as we would want to be treated.
  13. Abrahm's material wealth was a blessing from God. Material wealth does not always reflect God's blessing. There are times that these things are from Satan especially when it is so hard to believe and so enormous. It coincides with our faith and our way of life (if we are followers of God or not). Physical proverty is a direct curse from Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God's command and Eve falling victim to the serpent in the Garden of Eden.
  14. God promised Abraham that his name will be great, anyone who calls evil upon him will be cursed, and that the on'es that bless Abraham will also be blessed. So that's the reason Abimelech gave Abraham sheep, cattle, menservants, maidservents and gave Sarah back. Abraham did not lie about Sarah to some degree but in reality that is why he was in God's favor and being blessed. He lacked faith but his heart was pure.
  15. Abraham and Sarah lack faith. Abraham told a lie in order to say his wife from her purity being threatened. No. The faith was lacking because if they would have been threathened God would have protected them. We should have learned to put all our faith in God for he is our helper and protector and will never leave us alone as long as we are doing his will.
  16. Adultery is a great sin. God can only forgive a person for adultery if its the case of Abraham's wife and Abimelech. But in reality God does not frogive adultery.
  17. Paraoh and his family became sick because of the sin committed by Paraoh regarding Abraham's wife. The effect was tremendous. Paraoh became angry and told them to leave. God was trying to show that if you sin against my people there's going to be a price you have and will pay.
  18. Abraham faced the possibility of death because of the beauty of his wife and of being an alien, they would face oppression, ridicule. They would receive oppression from the natives of the land. There are Mexicans and African Americans in the community in which I live. Came to the community because its a quiet town compared to the bigger cities near by, its a college town and its a small town. Because of their race the discrimination is so very forthright. People in this town are so very cruel and the one's that have money and prestige are the worse and it even flows right into the religious sector. I being an African American know first hand how it feels but there were some wonderful people that just put their arms around me and showed love and respect and I in turn have always done and will continue to do the same toward others. That is what Our Heavenly Father wants us to do.
  19. I have begun something through God's urging but I did stop. I was a faithful servant and member of my congregation for many years. Numerous members were not being truthful and faithful in their works and when I would talk to the minister about it, things were just swepted under the rug (just like in the world today). There was no comfort, support, or advice given. Therefore, I stopped going to that church all together. I did not even seek out another congregation to go to. But through prayer and bible studying on my own I realize that there are going to be false prophets no matter where you go but I also learned that I was not going to be judged by what they were doing but by what I was doing and not doing. I did, however, found another congregation that served God righteously and felt the love and the spirit.
  20. Abraham was blessed through the covenant that was promised to him, blessed throughout the nation, through his descendants and descendants through Jesus Christ.
  21. By Abraham calling on the name Yahweh showed his true devotion to the one true God. By me calling on the name of the Lord shows my deep and true devotion to the only true God. Therefore my devotion is the same as Abraham's devotion.
  22. Hello My Christian Brothers and Sisters. My name is Celia, and I am from Ohio (USA). I am a grandmother of 2 beautiful and adorable grandchildren. I thank God for my grand-daughterand grandson each and every day. I truly enjoy the Bible Study here and I have learned alot about myself through this study. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having this wonderful and informative bible study site. God Bless You and Keep You.
  23. If we continue to do what is expected of us as true Christians, we will never fail but we must have faith, endurance, knowledge, love altogether in order to accomplish this. The fruitless and barren believers will be full with the divine faitth as long as they continue to believe and they too will be rewarded greatly. It is easy to become discouraged, take it from me but as long as we continue to ask for strength and guidance, our faith will continue to grow abundantly.
  24. Agape love is strong affection or love for our Heavenly Father and His Son. I believe it is because we can not see God or see Jesus but we can feel their power, love, wisdom, compassion and see justice. With church members, its more difficult and complicated because as individuals when we do not like what the other person has done and said we do not want to look at them or be around them because we believe that one day that person or persons will do or say that again. But with God and Jesus Christ, they would never ever leave us, deceive us, and everything that has been spoken from the mouth is the absolute truth.
  25. Disciplined devotional life is very important to me beause as I was born in sin I know I am imperfect even though I live righteously but I want to please God and be able to live in Paradise. Want to be complete and whole as God requires and to gain accurate knowledge. I have not been too busy in all my life whether I had doubts or not to read the Scriptures. My discipline is not to be stubborn and head strong. I use what I read and study in my everyday life as much as possible.
