What was the significance of this for them? How can we emulate this kind of worship? We learn that it doesn't matter who you are this is the Messiah. He is worthy of the most high honor. Humble yourself. Praise His Holy name. We all sing about these in praises to the King. The significanse of this is that they know who this baby is. That they knew in their hearts this indeed was the King of the Jews that they had sought. This was the Child they had followed the star to see.....the Messiah. What was the significance of this for them? They had left their homeland on a mission....probably about two years they had travelled.....they were rightly awed and thrilled to see the King of Kings.... How can we emulate this kind of worship? I think that we need to trust and believe...so many times we want proof....to make use of logic and our sensibility...the magi stepped out in faith to see a Baby Boy...the Son of God....the Messiah. pjg Posted December 23, 2010 Report Share Posted December 23, 2010 They are men who understand rank, and are demonstrating that there position is one that it's appropriate to honor a greater king, even though a baby. The interaction with Herod tells us they've heard of specific prophecies concerning this child. Their behavior suggests they are believing this child they have been led to is the fulfillment of those prophecies. They believed they had finally found the object of their search. It was clear to them the child was the Messiah from God. We must remember that Jesus is King of Kings today. He wears many hats as Elder Brother, Friend, Savior, and Redeemer to name a few. Lord of Lords is also who He is and these men have worshipped. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Their worship was practical. It was worth time, treasure, and effort. It should be the same for us today. We worship and serve the one Who served us and is worthy of our worship. We see reverence, strong faith, humility,thankfulness,respect,servitude and love for the child Jesus from the Magi!They KNOW without doubt this child is the Messiah and they want to serve and honor Him in every way!They Love their Messiah, Jesus Christ. His birth is significant to them because their Saviour has arrived! We can emulate this by having the same deep faith,reverence,humility,thankfulness,servitude,respect and love for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! The Magi prostrating themselves before the child Jesus shows us that Jesus was King and Messiah. What was the significance of this for them? The significance of them seeing the star reappear proved that their prediction of the child Jesus was true, and that they were accurate in their forecast. This was important, because they were convinced that they were standing before the Messiah of the Scriptures. That is why they bowed in submission and humility to the Savior, and King of the world. How can we emulate this kind of worship? When we read the Scriptures and worship the Lord we should have the same humility as the Magi. Imagine these old men, finely dressed, prostrating themselves on a dirt floor before a small child. They had seen the star and it had reappeared to guide them. These men were convinced -- rightly -- that they were standing before the Messiah, the King of the Jews. Their obeisance was fitting." Notwithstanding that Jesus was then only a child, the Magi recognised that He was the King of the Jews and they bowed down and worshipped Him. The Magi did not consider His earthly human form but rather who Jesus is. As the saying goes, we should not judge a book by its cover and rightly so. That they recognized Jesus has the Christ child and they were giving him the recognition and honor that someone of this authority figure should be given. What was the significance of this for them? They believed that Jesus was the long prophecised Christ and they gave him the respect that was to be given to him even if he was a child. This was not a one day belief. They knew that it would be the turning point for religion. How can we emulate this kind of worship? We can: Stay true to our beliefs Have our daily worship and prayer with God in a place of quiet Act as if we believe in Jesus Think about how we will honor and praise his name in Heaven and practice putting your mind in that mind set of honoring God. The Magi prostrating themselves before the child Jesus showed that they believed that they had found the King of the Jews and now worshipped Him as such. They submitted and honored the Baby as their Messiah. Our worship to God should be in perfect humility and honor before our King of Kings. bwithubob Posted December 23, 2012 Report Share Posted December 23, 2012 Some denominations and faiths view lying prostrate as a high form of worship. presumably it shows complete humility and submission to the rule of those they are lying before. In the case of the Magi lying before a child it would have been amazing. For us the lesson surely is humility and putting God's plan before our own even if that stands our worldly aspirations on their head. We learn that wise men of presumably high station considered Jesus important enough to prostrate themselves before him in worship. They'd studied the scriptures and seen the astronomical sign of His coming and felt compelled to worship the infant Messiah. What was the significance of this for them? They were among the first to recognize Jesus' Kingship. They considered it a very great honor to come all that way to worship the One who would rule and save the world. They know the prophecy had been fulfilled or the birth of the Messiah. The Magi had traveled far to worship the Christ-Child and came to see Him for themsleves, offering gifts of gold, incense and myrrh. The Messiah was born - these wealthy and learned men had no problems with kneeling and honoring the baby Christ-Child. By kneeling they showed honor and respect and humbled themselves before Jesus. c) We emulate this type of worship by prayer to Jesus Christ, depending totally on God and doing our best to live completely by His will. They fell at his feet humbled at His very presence. Although a child He was the Messiah. Even the mighty bow before Him. We fall at his feet when we worship. We learn humility from the wise men who prostrated before the boy Jesus For the wise men, the baby must be the king of the Jesus thus it was significant and thus their worship of the boy. They laid prostrate to show their reverence, respect, honor, and faith that Jesus is the messiah and promised king. We can worship the same way by fearing and him ring God with our actions, praising His name every moments that we can, willingly serve to further His kingdom, and humbly approaching the Father, through Jesus' name, in prayer. What was the significance of this for them? How can we emulate this kind of worship? Worship was due to Jesus, whether as a baby or adult, because He was God in human form. Child Jesus had nothing to offer them, but their willingness to prostrate before Jesus shows the attitude of their heart and it was to submit to the King in humility, adoration and devotion. They were diligent in their searching for Him and they found Him. They endured the hardships of traveling such great distances to come and worship Him. What a contrast between them and the dwellers of Jerusalem. They knew from the scriptures that Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, but they were not willing to undertake a six mile journey to Bethlehem to confirm the news that the Magi brought 750+ miles from the east. The Magi was so sure of His birth that they did not come empty handed but brought gifts worthy of the King. By humbly surrendering and submitting our lives in worship to the King, we too can emulate this kind of worship. We serve an awesome God and we are to be aware of that. Through their study and devotion to God He had given them a unique experience of His leading and guiding and His willingness to welcome them into His presence. These verses are a great example to us to be humble before God and to love, respect and honour Him as our Lord and Saviour.
