Dr. Wilson's teachings at the African Renewal Pastors Conference, Eldoret, Kenya, September 26-30, 2007, were designed to help pastors and church leaders to learn how to gain balance in their spiritual lives so that they can be good examples to God's people. Lessons from the Letter of James was woven throughout the sessions.

Wednesday, September 26

  Hungering and Thirsting for God (Psalm 27:7-9; Psalm 63:1-8). Setting the stage for personal revival and renewal in these meetings.
  James: Trials and Temptations (James 1:1-18)

Thursday, September 27

James: Hearing and Doing (James 1:19-27) James: Favoritism vs. Love (James 2:1-13). A call not to favor the rich over the others in our congregations because of our own greed.
Leaders as Examples to Be Imitated (Hebrews 13:7; 1 Timothy 3:1-15; 2 Samuel 12:14). The vital importance of a balanced life worth emulating. Principles of Giving. An exposition of the commands and promises for giving tithes and offerings.
Keeping Your Balance with Money (1 Timothy 3:3; 6:10; Matthew 6:24, 33; Philippians 4:10-13, 19). Trust and contentment vs. than a spirit of greed. God Our Provider and Source of Supply. A call to look to God for resources, rather than an unhealthy dependence upon American and European funds.

Friday, September 28

James: Faith and Deeds (James 2:14-26) James: Taming the Tongue (James 3:1-18)
Keeping Your Balance with Pride and Power. (Mark 10:42). A call to servant leadership, rather than leadership that exalts itself and encourages adulation and perks of office. Keeping Your Balance with Sex. (Genesis 2:22-25; 1:22; Proverbs 5:19; 1 Corinthians 7:1-5; Matthew 19:11-12; Matthew 15:19; 5:28; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 1 Timothy 3:4-5, 12)
Don't Despise the Day of Small Things (Zechariah 4:6-10). Encouragement for small church pastors. James: Humbling Ourselves (James 4:1-17). A call to humility before God and man.

Saturday September 29

James: Perspective of the Lord's Coming (James 5:1-12) James: The Prayer of Faith (James 5:13-20)
Our True and Faithful God. A call to be like our God, who speaks truth and keeps his promises with faithfulness, resisting a culture of careless speaking and one's word meaning nothing. Keeping Your Balance in Love. (John 13:35; Ephesians 4:1-6; James 4:11; Romans 14:4). A call to be examples in love and to contend for the unity of the faith in the bond of peace, vs. separatism and denominational pride.
How to Nourish Your Own Soul. Guidelines for pastors to sustain spiritual health and growth, rather than going dry from giving out without taking in.  

Sunday, September 30

Humbling Ourselves Like Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:1-11). A call to resist selfish ambition and vain conceit in favor of true humility. Preached at Deliverance Christian Centre, Longas Estate, Eldoret. Keep Watch over the Flock of God (Acts 20:17-35). A call for leaders to be true to their calling as faithful, humble shepherds. Final message at Huruma Church of Christ, Kingongo Estate, Eldoret.
