Q3. (Psalm 51:10-12) How is it possible to have a "pure heart" after great sin? What does a "pure heart" consist of? What is the relationship between a "pure heart" (Psalm 51:10) and a "united" or "undivided heart" (Psalm 86:11)? Who purifies the heart? What is the process?

With God all things are possible. By the blood of Jesus can we be fully restored to a pure heart. We first of all must confess our sins to God and repent. He then will do the rest. We need to constantly and consistantly seek the face of God and His will. Staying in the Word and Praying. But it is God that does the work.

How is it possible to have a "pure heart" after great sin?

None but God can create a new heart. New mercies are granted to us each day. God said that if we come to him seeking forgiveness with a truly repentant heart, that He will cast our sins into the sea of His forgetfulness. Salvation is the way that God can and does create pure hearts after great sins to those who seek Him.

What does a "pure heart" consist of?

A pure heart is one that is holy and acceptable unto Christ. It is one that has sinned, sought forgiveness through the utterings of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Jesus Christ who died for our sins that has been restored to the affection of our Soverign Lord.

What is the relationship between a "pure heart" (Psalm 51:10) and a "united" or "undivided heart" (Psalm 86:11)?

A pure heart and a united/undivided heart are hearts that are 100% committed to God, giving wholehearted praise and desirous of knowing God's way so that they may be even more faithful to His word.

Who purifies the heart? What is the process?

None but God can purify the heart. It is only through salvation that we know true forgiveness and the joy and peace that is ours through the love that God bears for us and that Jesus died so that we may have it eternally.

A pure heart is possible to have if the sinner recognizes and acknowledges the great sin, and is willing to ask God for transformation. A pure heart is a heart that has been transformed by God because of the sin. It is a second birth of a sort. It is a becoming dead by sin and then quickened again. EPH 2:1.

A pure heart is a heart that is focussed on God completely, which is not in the world, although the body may be in the world.

Jesus Christ purifies the heart, by allowing it to recognize sin, reject it, and become of the spirit instead of the flesh.

Since Adam & Eve we are all sinners and live in a fallen world. We cannot purify our hearts by any human act. Only God can do that - it is an act of HIS mercy and grace - and only possible when we humble ourselves, confess our sins and ask for HIS forgiveness through the shed blood of Christ on Calvary. Praise the LORD. Knowing HIS forgiveness raises us out of the ashes of condemnation and restores us into fellowship with the Almighty God as HIS sons and daughters. God gives us a pure heart in His sight we are pure - its a gift of grace.

A pure heart and an undivided heart: I believe a pure heart is a heart that is focused on serving and obeying our God. This may also be described as an 'undivided' heart - a heart that is not divided between many loyalties - but focused primarily on obeying our wonderful God, the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you.

All believers need God's Spirit to create in them a pure heart that hates iniquity and a renewed spirit that desires to do the will of God. Only God can make us a new creation and restore us to true godlines. The relationship is we have turned from our sin with a heart to do the will of God, willing to be taught God's ways and His truth that we might fear God from the heart. When we are experiencing trials and difficulties, we must cry out to God for wisdom to walk in His ways and for a heart that truly fears and delights in His truth. God's Holy Spirit purifies our heart by convicting us of what is right and wrong.

In Longing for a Pure Heart it is good to learn to pray like David did, sincerely, feeling the pain of sin against a God he loves.

Thisw lesson helps us to focus on some self-deceit/sin and imagine/feel how it removes us from God's love. So what do we really want in our heart? We want unconditional love which only comes from God. God can implant such love in others, but we are all still human and fallible; so we will dissapoint others. Perhaps it will be by arguments and miss-understanding rather than fornication and murder.

We can pray for God to CREATE a pure heart and a willing steadfast spirit in us.

He is not asking for too much; but he i s asking for a miracle from God, which God grants for His own pleasure, as we kneel before Him; we can be made "pure again" though previously corrupted? Yes, this is called God's GRACE.

Jesus tests us, helps us discern right from wrong, and with iron he purifies our hearts. God spoke to Peter, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean" We are in all cases responsible for moving closer to God's love when He makes it clear to us how good it feels.

First of all - - ALL sin is great. No matter the sin, whether society or religious structures more severely rate one sin over the other, every sin is an affront to the Holy One. When we recognize this, we recognize that we all are in a state of separation from God and need to have our heart purified. God set up the sacrificial system to provide for a cleansed heart; our sin requires a sacrifice to be made holy again and that sacrifice was provided with the Lamb of God, Jesus the Christ. We must present our contrite heart and accept the gift of mercy provided by this great sacrifice on the cross. The process is recognition of the sin and our sinful nature, presentation of our desire to be made pure so that we may be in a restored right relationship with our Creator, and an acceptance of the grace of God. The drawing power of God initiates the process, we must respond and Christ 'seals the deal'! Praise the Lord - it's a done deal!

God wants all his children to come to him. To lean on him, to trust in him. He is jealous "FOR" us. not "OF" us but for us and he loves us so much that he gave his son to the cross to have those sins washed away freely from our part. And it is through Jesus risen body that we can have a relationship with God. We need to ask for forgiveness all the time cause we are made of flesh who wants to follow the world. We must die constantly to our flesh and let God take control of our lives. Not in a way where he is the boss... that's not the relationship he wants. But one that we can come to him for anything, to talk, to cry to, to hang with, to simply BE with... our Pardon of our whole being takes root to all this. When we give our wholeness to him, he makes us white like snow. When we offer our selves up to him, he carries us through everything. He rebuilds us in a way where not only our friends and family can't recognize us, but even ourselves. He will do that IF we ask him and allow him to go to the secret places of our hearts that we don't allow any one else in. Even though God knows whats in there, he still accepts us and loves us. Create in me a new heart lord, and renew a right spirit in me..... I will go where you go, say what you say, do what I see you do, and stand back when you want to fight in my stead.

Lord I love you for your grace cause its enough for me...

yes it is possible to have a "pure heart" after great sin. A pure heart is one cleansed by God with a steadfast sprit. The united or undivided heart is one that is complete with God. A heart that is full of sin or has sin in it cannot be united with God b/c God loathes sin.

Once the Lord forgives your heart, only he can purify it. The process is First: you ask for forgiveness through Jesus Christ, Second: Forgiveness is given by the Lord, Third (very important): you accept it.

It is possible to have a pure heart after sin if you ask for forgiveness from the Father. Tell Him your mistake, tell Him you love Him and that you still want to know Him and walk in His paths and He will forgive you. Acknowledge that He is Lord over your life and that He was raised from death so He now has the power over death.

A pure heart consists of no sin. It is filled with God and has His desires and plans in it. The relationship between a pure heart and a united heart, is one that only has one God in it. My NKJV says in the side notes that instead of unite you can put 'singleness of heart.' This tells me my heart needs to be set on one thing and when purity is brought in, if you desire to be pure you need to have a united heart on the matter of your relationship with God. So to compare purity with a divided heart, you can't have a pure divided heart because there is something else there that still has a hold over you.

Is is God alone who purifies the heart. The process is admitting you are wrong, acknowledging that Jesus was put to death for our sin and that He then rose having the power over death and then asking God to wash us clean by putting His innocent Son's blood on our hearts. And when this forgiveness is asked for, (as KimC said), accept it! Don't dwell on the sin, think of what you learnt, not what you did :)

We can have a pure heart after great sin by inserting truth into the situation and going to God in prayer with a repentant and contrite spirit. God offers us that opportunity. A pure heart is one that has recognize sin and desires to repair what is broken through a right relationship with God. When we have a pure heart we have the character of Christ (we are of the same mind and spirit as him) we entreat God to help get us to a place of desperately seeking him asking for a clean heart.

God purifies the heart but we have to do our part. We admit our wrong; pray; seek God's face; turn from our wicked ways; then God will hear our prayers and we are working on a pure heart.

If we ask God to forgive us and wash away our sins, He gives us a "pure heart" that desires after the things of God once again. A pure heart and and an undivided heart are similar. They both desire to serve God, and God alone. God purifies the heart. It begins when I cry out to Him for forgiveness and cleansing. He comes to me and washes me "whiter than the snow" and strikes the sin out of His books. Finally, He gives me a "pure heart" that seeks total devotion to Him. "Lord, give me a pure and undivided heart that I may seek after the good things of You only. I desire to serve You at all times. Amen."

[Q3. (Psalm 51:10-12) How is it possible to have a "pure heart" after great sin?

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick. Who can know it perceive, understand and be acquainted with his own heart and mind?" (Jer 17:9) A pure heart is only possible when it has been "recreated"or "regenerated" in a new creature in Christ. When the "old man" died on the Cross of Calvary with Jesus, and rose anew with Him from the grave, that one rises with a new heart and mind...no longer belonging to Satan but to God. Still capable of sin, but no longer bound by it.....

What does a "pure heart" consist of?

A pure heart then, is one that though it has sinned, has been cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

What is the relationship between a "pure heart" (Psalm 51:10) and a "united" or "undivided heart" (Psalm 86:11)?

A pure heart has been purchased and redeemed by the Lord, and is surrendered to His purposes. An Undivided Heart as spoken about in Ps. 86:11 is the same...it lives to serve and follow after His desires, not mine.

Who purifies the heart?

Jesus!

What is the process?

After sin, the sinner "owns" or takes responsibility for it and acknowledges it to God. Is sorry (not for being caught or convicted, but for committing the sin (or omitting the good that the Lord required or asked and it wasn't done). Repentance follows confession. Then forgiveness flows from the side of Jesus. Accepting the forgiveness and forgiving oneself is the final step! His forgiveness is complete...there is no need to feel guilty or to try to "atone" for my own sin when He has done it all for me. Then thanks is offered for His work on the Cross which makes it possible to live with a pure heart!

The only way that it possible to have a “pure heart” after great sin is to ask God for forgiveness. A “pure heart” consist of know God and the things that Jesus Christ did for us and to following those teachings. I think that the relationship between a “pure heart” and a “united” or “undivided heart” are saying about the same thing.

It is possible to have a pure heart after great sin. It is possible because God promises to cleanse a believers heart, after confession. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9) -so it is God and Jesus who purifies the heart. David, in Psalm 51:10 asked God to renew and give him a pure heart. A purified heart is a heart free from guilt-one that is able to move on -continue with life without condemnation (Romans 8:1,2). A united heart is not one torn between following ones own desires and following and surrendering to God's will.

The only way to have a pure heart after great sin is by confessing and asking for forgiveness from the Father. A pure heart is free from guilt and shame and is tender and open to God's voice. A pure and undivided heart is one that longs for God's presence and direction in everything. God purifies the heart, He teaches us through His word and the lessons we learn in life if we have our ear inclined to him.

I never knew that one could have a pure heart after great sin.  A pure heart is to have God forgive you of your sin asking him for his mercy, but at the same time knowing that, as like David, God may have some kind of penance for your sin.  I have done a great sin, I believe that God as forgiven me, but I must accept that forgiveness in order for me to have bee washed clean.  Acceptance of God's grace is sometimes a hard thing to do.  My question is why do we continue to punish ourseleves, knowing how God has forgiven us.

I continue to pray to God for forgiveness and to accept his grace and mercy so that my heart is one with the Lord.
