Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2) Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob?

Because God knows that Jacob is worried and scared of what he is going to have to face with his brother Esau and He wanted to assure Jacob that He was with him just as He had promised him.

What is the significance of the presence of this army?

To strengthen Jacob and assure him that God was with him just as He promised.

God reveals the angel army to Jacob because He wants Jacob to see he is being watched over and protected from harm.

The significance of the presense of this army is that God's angelic army is watching over Jacob's camp.

I think Jacob calls the place he was at Mahanaim meaning "two camps" because his small camp was being watched over and protected by God's mighty angelic camp.

God reveals the angelic army to Jacob so that he would know that God is fulfilling His promise to protect him - to provide Jacob and his family safe passage back to the land He had promised him - and to aide and support Jacob in his act of obedieence to God. . .

Jacob named the place Mahanaim because of the presence of the two encampments there - Jacob and his household and the angelic army of God. . .

Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2) Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob? What is the significance of the presence of this army? Why do you think he calls the place Mahanaim (two camps)?

God sends the angel army to Jacob to remind him he need only to trust in the Lord and His promises. Jacob now affirms he knows the presence of God and heavenly beings are with him.

Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2) Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob?

Jacob had just heard that Esau was coming to meet him with 400 men! He was understandably terrified. God most likely wanted to reassure Jacob that He was with him.

What is the significance of the presence of this army?

It's there if needed. God wanted Jacob to know that He hadn't forsaken him and that indeed He had provided a force at least the equal in number to Esau's and obviously more powerful. That would have been a huge comfort and encouragement to Jacob to know God had His army of angels nearby.

Why do you think he calls the place Mahanaim (“two camps”)?

Because God's army of angels was camped not too far from Jacob's own camp. No big mystery there.

1a)God is giving him an affirmation that even though Esau is coming with 400 men,God is still with him, reassuring him that God’s army is mighty enough to watch, help &protect him,his camp of family, servants&livestock in all they face ahead.

.b)The army is a sign not only of protection but also that God would fulfil promise that no harm will come to Jacob c)Jacob names it Mahanaim to signify “2 camps” the place where he set up his camp,God’s army of angel’s camped nearby.

I think that God revealed the angel army to Jacob to insure him that he was not alone and that God was with him. The significance of the army is to let Jacob know that he is not alone and that he will be successful.

He called the place Mahanamim because there was his camp and there was the angel’s camp.

Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2) Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob? To let Jacob know that Hashem has not forgotten him. Jacob and his family are under devine protection.

What is the significance of the presence of this army? The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Psalm 34:7, Psalm 91:1, Psalm 91:11, Hebrews 1:14

Why do you think he calls the place Mahanaim ("two camps")? Because the two sides are equally accounted for. The ministers that to the pleasure of the Lord are there to minister comfort and encouragement to Jacobs family and are more than likely equal to the amount of men that Esau has brought with him. The word angel comes from the Greek aggelov aggelos, which literally signifies a messenger. So these messengers of Hashem have come to camp with Jacob and his family. His camp and the camp of the angels being the two camps.

Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2)

Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob?

What is the significance of the presence of this army?

Why do you think he calls the place Mahanaim ("two camps")?

Jacob had just had the encounter with Laban at Mizpah and God had proved true to His word, and protected them from Laban's wrath.  Now Jacob was moving on and getting closer to home turf and to facing what he had run away from 20 years ago,  Esau's threat to kill him.  For peace of mind God shows him , yet again, that he was not alone.  Jacob was reassured by the angels (God's Army). God had promised to never leave him, to protect him, to bring him back to the Land of Promise.  God indeed proved to be a keeper of His Word.  There were now two camps , viz., the protection unit , being the angels,  and the home camp, being his own group of family and servants, together with his possessions.
