Q2. Sexual Temptation

Recommended Posts

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Sexual **** is a natural desire and the design of humans. We are designed to be attracted to the opposite sex for the intimacy that perpetuates our socity. Modern times with such liberal and pornographc ideas and the promotion of sexual activity has increased the problem, Man must learn to subdue these desires and turn our attention and drive to worshipping Christ God our creator. Knowing our weakness makes it possibble to control these weaknesses.

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual **** so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Colossians 3:5 - 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, ****, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

Sexual desires and **** has always been in the world. Today, it seems more prevalent because of the instant media and the ability to watch it in your own home. Even legitimate questions can bring you to websites that are questionable. Also, the world tells you it is OK.

If one is married, we must focus on our relationships and build one

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

The biological explanation for ****, of course, is that it is a basic drive that keeps us propagating. It generates in us good feelings and we're drawn to it. And yet, **** serves the flesh. It blinds our judgment and leads our mind astray, making it set on "earthly things" rather than on the things of the Spirit. To keep sexual desires from controlling us we must set our mind on the Spirit at all times, knowing that we're no longer slaves of sin, but reborn in the Spirit. We are spiritual beings and our sinful nature has no power over us. Most importantly, we must submit ourselves totally to Christ, remembering that sin and desires have been crucified. We need to pray to God and ask Him not to lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Sexual desires are so strong especially for men because of the **** of their eyes. Add that to our degraded society--they are bombarded with sex daily from tv, shows, internet, and, of course, society as a whole.

We need to keep sex in the Biblical context. See sexual sins as sins against God and our bodies and not changed to keep up with society.

Sexual desire is strong and thus difficult to control. I think satan capitalises on this and influences us to yield to sexual temptation. Even though we are sexual beings, we must put to death, our sexual desires that will lead to sin. We must set our hearts to obeying the Lord and satisfy our sexual desires only in the right way- through marriage.

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Sexual **** is so difficult for people because living a pure life according to God's standards is counter to our culture. There is so much in our culture that promotes an unpure life and according to the standards of our culture, any desire for sex should be fulfilled without concern for what God's word teaches. Males have a high sexual desire and tempations abound. In our world it is common to try to rationalize sexual sins as merely normal human desires. It is quite true that the desire for sex is a strong, innate drive. But to suppose that God is neutral about how we exercise our sexuality runs directly in the face of Scripture. He has given us an arena in which we can exercise our sexuality freely -- the bonds of marriage. Outside of the bounds of marriage, sex can become destructive -- to children and families, for example. Sexual sins outside of marriage, both of the body and of the mind, can become compulsive and dangerous. So we are to put to death in us the permission to exercise our sexuality outside of the bounds of marriage.

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

It's difficult BECAUSE we are sexual beings. As in all functions, such as eating, that are a part of our lives here, the only way to cause them to not become sin, is to bring them to the cross and under the control of the Holy Spirit. It's much easier to deny the flesh those things that aren't essential, but which if given free reign can become "habits which become handcuffs" as one has said. It's one of those truths which keeps us in daily dependence upon our Lord and Savior, and when we are not in subjection to His Lordship, the flesh quickly succumbs to the fallen nature, and the temptation which is almost constant in our promiscuous, now godless society, which flaunts it's truth: "you only live once so grab all the gusto (or l u s t o) you can."

To place your thoughts on Christ means to become new and to put the old to death. Thus when we do this we are hidden by the arms of Christ which will be hidden until his second coming for we will be like him then. Men go to war more off than females thus causing it to be a little tougher on men.

There is nothing wrong with men or woman having normal sexual urges, or appreciating the beauty in others, the norm becomes difficult when

Like any desire or urge that gets in the way of our relationship with Christ we must pray and meditate on the love of God. Paul reminds us that we must work out our salvation through prayer and supplication on a daily basis. When the urges occur seek out God and he will make a way out for us!

The **** of the eyes and the **** of the flesh are powerful sins that have led many believers astray. We must recognise this sin and not underestimate its power. I think it is not only males but also females who succumb to this temptation and sin.

We can keep sexual desire from controlling us by letting the Holy Spirit lead and control our lives. We must live in the fear of God. We must recognise this weakness and pray to God to help us deal with it. Recognition is the first step to dealing with problem. We must recognise that we are weak but when we are weak, God is strong. Where we cannot, God can. With God all things are possible, Hallelujah.

The reason that sexual **** is so difficult for people, especially males is because we are confronted with it all the time. It is put on our minds with the advertising because it is such a strong motivation.

The way that we can keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin is to watch wholesome programs. I know when I watch the old TV shows there usually any sexual innuendos in them. But I know that this is one of the toughest things that I have to do. Only with God can it be accomplished.

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Sexual **** is difficult because we are created sexual beings. With sin entering the world, sexual things became perverted and impure. We must continually allow God to renew our minds and thoughts by meditating on His Word and through prayer. We must also repent and allow the Holy Spirit to live and breathe in us.

I think sexual **** is difficult to people for many different reasons. First, we all have a God given sexual drive that is very strong by God's design. Men for the most part are visual beings and are tempted outside of marriage to **** after what they "see". If women do not feel loved and cared for, they act out "perceived" love in sexual misbehavior to satisfy an emotion. Many sexual addictions grow out of other areas. Sexual abuse in formative years contributes to confusion about love and sex. Unhealthy decisions to view *********** "just once" can set anyone on a journey battling **** and sexual sin for years. Going to see sexually charged movies, though rated acceptable by society or listening to sexually explicit music can all affect our willingness to give in to temptation when confronted with the real opportunity. Our society bombards us with everything sexual in magazines, on TV and anywhere advertisement is seen!

So...in the midst of all these circumstances....how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us? From one who suffered from sexual molestation as a young teen from persons in authority, I took a plunge down into the darkness of immorality and all the "stuff" that came with it. I first had to learn who I was in Christ. That He loved me and never left me through those times and that He had plans for me to take me from that way of life and give me wholeness and a new life. I took His hand and began my journey, first overcoming bitterness and forgiving those who abused me. As the heaviness and darkness fell away, I began to see who God had created me to be and that I was worth more than what I had experienced and had begun to treat myself like. He loved me so much...through so much....I fell in love with Him....and I've never been the same! The journey was long and hard.....but believing in His love gave me the courage to get back up after every slip and fall. I was consumed with knowing Him more and more and the Bible became my constant companion. It became life to me. I learned ways to overcome from the Word and through Bible studies that I'm never without. One was on "Pulling the window shade of your mind" when faced with temptations or images. I literally learned to bring one down on my thoughts when anything tried to enter in. I prayed and prayed and prayed for help and cried and cried and cried when I failed. In it, God was faithful....but I had to choose....to believe....to follow....and to live.....accepting His goodness and promises to me.

What a powerful testimony! God bless you!

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

I have not read all of the entries as of yet but I do thank those I have read. Also, I am behind in my study so this response is late but I am right where I need to be in this study and I thank GOD for all of you and for this tool!

Sexual **** is a sin and that is all it is. I as a woman have struggled with it, before I knew the loving grace and mercy of our LORD JESUS CHRIST and even so afterwords - which was (is) very difficult for me because I now walk in the truth but yet I am still tempted in this way. No matter though, GOD has and is working in me to look to HIM for all my fulfillment - to treat others as I would have them treat me.....in humility, considering others better than my self - looking not only after my own interest but after the interest of others.......being of the same mind as CHRIST who humbled HIMSELF even to death - death on the cross............

The repercussions of these lusts are found in proverbs and many other places in the WORD of LIFE - put on CHRIST - what beauty is there in that statement alone. In James 1:14 - 15, it says, " But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own ****, and enticed. Then when his **** hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth for death."

We are going to be tempted - but it is through CHRIST, HIS SPIRIT in us, HIS WORD which dwells in us, that we may stand firm against the temptations which come our way - HE, HIS word will guide us into all righteousness - but we must stand fast in the LORD - abide in HIM and HIM alone...........only by considering the temptation before us has the battle been lost but through HIM we can at any time ask our GOD for help and mercy and grace......PRAISE HIM!

This is my personal experience of GOD's love toward me - yes I am always tempted but HE, through HIS wonderful SPIRIT is teaching me to not enter into the way of the wicked - not even a step through HIS WORD!

AMEN

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Why is sexual **** so difficult for people, especially males? Sexual **** is especially difficult for males because they are aroused by the visual sense more than any other. That's why the opposite sex should pay attention to how they dress, the signals they send, and what they say at all times. Of course, girls and women often respond to the visual sense as well. However, they are more aroused than their counterparts to kindness, intelluctual process, personality, and tenderness. Both sexes should watch how they conduct themselves.

Sexual desires will be easier to control if we maintain a personal daily relationship with Jesus. This is something that many people need to pray about daily. Jesus loves us, and wants us to talk to Him. So, we should tell Him about our situation and ask for His guidance.

Q2 God has created this drive for it fuels His command to "be fruitful and multiply."

He intends for us to enjoy one another in a sanctifying way. However, the males

are the weaker sex when it comes to sexual **** and the desires are a great

temptation to them. Those worldly ones are always loose on this and tend to

take advantage when the occasion arises.

Since we have received new life in Christ Jesus, we definitely wanted to put to

death all the sins that will lead us away from God. As we are the temple of the

Holy Spirit, we are called to live holy life. Therefore if any temptations come

our way, we need to seek the help of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us.

Spending time in silent meditation with God and ask for His strength to fight any

weaknesses that will lead us to temptations.

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males? Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

Various studies indicate that males have a stronger sex drive and/or obsession with sex than females. Being a male I have found this to be the case. We can keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin through prayer and self-control. Self-control is one of the fruits of the spirit mentioned by Paul in Galatians 5. It is the result of a spirit filled life. If we are serious about our spiritual growth in Jesus the Christ and becoming more Christ-like, then we need to intentionally exercise self-control. We will never realize all that God has for us if we do not exercise sexual self-control. As Paul said earlier, we must keep our minds on things above in order to stay out of the gutter. As Paul noted to the Philippians - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Q2. (Colossians 3:5) Why is sexual l u s t so difficult for people, especially males?

Sexual l u s t is so differcult for people, especially males because it is a strong innate drive created by God and it is actively present in most males.

Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

We can keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin by repeatedly reminding ourselves that sexual l u s u is pinned to the former life and no longer should it be allowed to creep into the new born again life, "old things are passed away."

Q2. Why is sexual **** so difficult for people, especially males?

I believe that **** is so difficult for individuals because we are surrounded day and night with sexual pictures that promotes unrealistic fantasy from the media. The media such as television, movies, magazines, etc., never warns about the serious implications that can come about through illicit sexual behavior such as aids, and other diseases. Sin seems pleasurable but it only lasts for a short season. Satan deceives anyone who involves themselves in this activity and makes it appear that they will never suffer any consequences for their actions. We know that this is a lie and there is never any truth in the god of this world. Men are easily stimulated because of their biological make-up. It would help if women would watch how they dress in order to keep down sexual temptation among the male species.

Though we cannot deny that we are sexual beings, how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us and causing us to sin?

We must take care to guard our eyes and our ears from the media which promotes this type of filth to the public. The media does not care that this type of behavior lends itself to a degenerate society. If we are not careful, we will tend to believe that it's o.k. to practice sex outside of marriage, etc. Our greatest safety factor is to renew our minds on a daily basis with the word of God. If we neglect the word of God, we will fall in line with the world's way of thinking.
