When we minimizing or stray from that revelation we can be deceived by all types of strange doctrine. When set aside or void this revelation we are coming against God's plan of Authority for Faith and practice. The danger of denying that God reveals Himself to us through the Apostlic and prophetic ministry is denying the Authority of God and His Plan for the church today. That is why so many churches are weak and having so many problems.

First, as a minister of the Gospel we must agree that we have been given His authority. There is confusion where some do not believe they have this authority or refuse to exercise it (MINIMIZE IT) for whatever reasoning. God's revelation is decidedly our authority to practice our faith ...to go and tell.
Straying or superseding from Gods authority will, many times bring immediate correction from God. Immediate or delayed correction from God is not a desirable goal for anyone. Beyond the personal consequence, we may hurt or destroy the faith of others - DON'T do this.

Because it's Gods word given through them to us to use to come to know Him and what He would have us do in and for our lives. Straying from Gods word leadsto sin and as we know sin to death. To supersede that revelation is to add or take away from the word of God and Revelations tell us what will happen if we add or delete from God's word. To deny that God has given us His word is calling Him a lier and bring more sin on oourselves. We can't deny His word without denying Jesus and there by falling farther from Gods grace and love by rejecting what He has already done for us. In denying His word we are denying His Son and the price He payed for our sins. We cannot reject the word of God without rejecting our own salvattion.

At my age this is probably a laugh, but then Sarah laughed, didn't she?<br /><br />I value being able to write and read the responses of others, because they offer a different perspective from mine.

The Holy Apostles and Prophets were in personal touch with Jesus - even Paul. They were taught by Jesus Himself and are our closest reference point. There can be none who are closer.
If we stray from that revelation thenwe are believing lies, subtle though they might be,they are not the truth.
If we supercede that revelation the same thing applies. We have no way of testing its truth and will begin to believe lies. He has given us all we need. It is now all written in black and white (and red!) and the bases of the faith are very clear and consistent.. We cannot depart from them.
God does reveal Himself to us and to the church today. We can always confirm it is God because He will bring His word to us in complementary ways,so that we are in no doubt. It will be consistent with scripture and present to us in different ways that confirm each other. If we deny this we relegate God to history and put ourselves on His throne. Very very dangerous! He is God NOW, all the time!

There are many religions in this world, but all, except the Christian faith, are derived from man's thought and understanding, whereas the Christian faith is God inspired, and as God alone sees the 'big picture', unlike the man-created religions, Scripture holds as true today as it did when God first inspired it's writing. There is no need for man, with his finite world view, to update or change Scripture to accommodate the modern times.
The danger of mere mortals taking the audacious move to 'update' Scripture is that God's Word will be negated, after all how can a finite understanding of the universe and its future compare with the infinite knowledge of God?? This is when cults start forming and man begins to think himself more important than God, imagining that he and he alone is God's conduit. Scripture is corrupted in order to satisfy the agenda of these people, ever so discreetly in most cases, but corrupted just the same. This is one of the reasons I urge everyone who undertakes studies with me to always have their Bibles at the very least, and no matter how important or well known the teacher, no matter how many qualifications they've attained; no matter the cut of his suit; to always, always check back with Scritpute before accepting the teachings as truth, where there is confusion, then always go with Scripture, even if that means seemingly going against 'the crowd'.

Insofar as all scripture is inspired by God and all scripture is truth, it is the basis of our faith. To walk in the Word, that is, to be doers of the Word, is our life. To deviate from the Word is death. To take away or add to the scriptures as given by the Holy Spirit is to create religion which is why the church today is a mess and a sea of confusion.
Those who deny the revelations of God to His people today, by His Holy Spirit, have lost the entire purpose of the Messianic gift and God's divine plan for our salvation. Their command of the Holy Word is superficial, to say the least. Imagine going to Japan and not speaking a word of Japanese then attempting to look someone up in the Japanese phone book. Try reading and understanding the Word of God without revelation from the Holy Spirit. Same difference. God reveals Himself in this manner to His people today and without understanding His language, the Word, there is no revelation. Consequently those who do not believe in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to reveal things of God to us are, lost.

When God gives us revelation to do His work , we have to obey Him , He is the who created us and he knows our abilities and what we can not do. If we do not obey His word , we will be disobeying Him and sinning against Him.

We can know no more about the LORD than the LORD chooses to reveal to us, His creation. He chooses what to reveal, when to reveal it, and how to reveal it. His revelations are delivered by/through the Holy Spirit, who is the only One who can know the heart and mind of God and interpret them to humanity. Yahweh has assured us that He wants to be known. He specifically chose the prophets and apostles - and the times in history - through whom He would reveal Himself. He has guarded and protected the Word given to man in the holy Scriptures for centuries. His revelation of Himself has been proven true as every prophecy has come to pass exactly as He said it would, with the exception of those yet to occur that are related to Christ's return and the end times. His Word given through the apostles and prophets is our authority for faith and practice because He has proven all credibility and right to be in charge.
There is great danger in any alteration of that revelation, whether it be minimizing, straying, attempting to supercede it, or denying it. That would simply become the pride of considering self greater or wiser than the Creator of all things that exist. Just look at what happened to Satan when he did that very thing. Not only would we miss the truth of God (and in doing that, miss The Way) but we would cause others to miss it as well. We'd be ineffective, stagnated in lifeless rituals and legalism, not moving in the ever-fresh flow of the Spirit. We would be putting ourselves in a position of needing God's discipline and correction. I guess I'd have to say that the ultimate danger is that of destruction.

Without this revelation given to the holy apostles and prophets we would be lost. Existing without instruction or directions. These are the guidelines of obedience that we are to live by. We could be in grave danger by not valuing the WORD, this would send us drifting into an abyss, lost without true guidance and instruction. Man alone can not conceive of what the creator expects of him because of sin, the Word is the way, the truth, and the light that guides us into that heavenly realm of understanding and obeying our fathers will. Without this instruction we are mere images of sin and not images of our creator.

God's revelation to "his holy apostles and prophets" is our authority for faith and practice, because it is God-breathed, inspired by God. It is then accredited to be our authority and standard to which any other revelation or prophesy (real and supposed) is to be measured and judged.
The danger of minimizing or straying from that revelation is that we would not comport with God’s word, that we would minimize the living standard in Him, that we would not be equipped appropriately for every good work.
The danger of superseding that revelation is that we are holding false teaching, that we are no longer the sons of God.
The danger of denying that God reveals himself to us and to his church today is that we would deny the God’s prophecy to us that He may reveal specifically to us. The prophecy of God may be revealed in our era and in the future, because the gift of prophecy still exists. The scripture says, “Do not despise prophecies”, but also say, “test all things” (1 Thessalonians 5:20, 21). We test the prophecies we may get with the accredited teaching of Christ and his apostles as given in the New Testament Scriptures, because it is our authority and the standard to which any other revelation or prophecy is to be measured and judged.

The apostles had direct teaching from God. Paul , you might say, had a direct clear revelation from God Himself. What we glean from these people of God through the Scriptures, and revealed to us through the Holy Spirit is waht we stand on, as in Colossians it is the true truth.
if we stray from this we are corrupting God's Word, if we attempt to change or twist God's Word to suit ourelves we are opening ourselves up to all sorts of dangers. Not only that, if we are called to shepherd a flock we are interfering with their salvation if we lead them of track with false or misleading revelation.
If we try to hold God back or even out of the church we are grieving Him. God will not stay in a church He is not welcome. To say that God does not speak to us today either through the Scriptures or Prophet. the best thing is for people to learn to test the spirit, the word of the prophet, if it does not sit/abide with the Word of God it is not of God and should be ignored.

For God moved on the prophets and apostles with revelation of His Words that they may serve as a written record in the Bible and be taught us through the prophets, ministers, teachers of our day.
His Word has been proven and withstood the trials and fire that it is the truth, the living Word to accept any other puts us in danger of loosing our souls and leading others astray.
We are not to add to not take from the Word, it is complete and does not need man to add his personal opinion about the Word. God reveals His truth as we seek Him and He is the ultimate authority. We still only understand that which God has revealed.
The danger in denying is that we raise up a generation that will not know God and His truth. We also condemn ourselves and can be a stumbling block to those that are seeking to hear God for themselves.

God made known His instruction and message thru "His holy apostles and prophets" so that what they reveal to us is by God's authority.
The danger of minimizing or straying from that is to become apostate or following "another gospel" which is a lie because there is no other gospel.
To supercede that revelation would mean following man, our own desires and in doing so serving Satan.
The danger of denying that God reveals Himself to us and the chirch today is to deny the POWER of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In which case we become mere flotsam and jetsum blown about by the chaos of this dark world as is the child of the world.
The danger of minimizing or straying from that is to become apostate or following "another gospel" which is a lie because there is no other gospel.
To supercede that revelation would mean following man, our own desires and in doing so serving Satan.

Why is God's revelation to "his holy apostles and prophets" our authority for faith and practice?
His apostles and prophts were in close contact with Jesus. They listened to his words and know them to be truth. So we should be able to do the same. That way when he reveals something to us we know that we can believe what he tells us is the truth.

Not taking his word as his truth means we have believed in a lie. Its better to take his revealed word for what it is instead of accepting a lie. Not following what he says can cause us problems.

Through Gods revelation we now know who we are in Jesus Christ.We have been assigned to preach the Good News by the grace of God.If we stray away from that revelation we will not be able to share the promise in Christ Jesus.If we deny that God reveals himself to us and to his church the danger is being seperated from God.
God reveals himself to us through the Holy Bible.The bible in itself is prophecy.God will reveal all mysteries to us in His perfect timing

God chose to reveal His truths to "holy apostle and prophets." As citizens of the Kingdom of God we are subject to the authority of the Kingdom's ruler and His delegated authority. Our faith and practices are as a result of abiding in and under the authority of the Word of God.

Those that have eyes...Those that have ears. God's Word is revealed to the living stones of His Living Temple: past, present, and future. To have the spiritual maturity to turn on our spiritual eyes and ears to the revealing nature of God puts our focus on Jesus Christ, the Living Word. It is not through human deduction or comprehension that God's Word is revealed. God reveals His true nature and authority through His Son and His Spirit. The revelation of our connection to God is brought about by Him. I truly believe that I must keep my eyes fixed on Him and my heart open always to His revelation through the Holy Scriptures of the Bible. Meditating on God reveals the Word in the Holy Scriptures. Praise God that He that dwells in me is able to reveal the Word through what in written in the Holy Scriptures. Our main goal is to worship and love God in Spirit. If we deny that God reveals Himself to us, His Holy Living Temple in Christ our Lord, then we deny our existence in Him and His existence in us.

God's revelation through His holy prophets and apostles is God's Word.
We do not add to or take anything away from it. We follow God's Word just as He revealed it.
To deny that it is true is foolish. God said it, it is.

Scripture is God Breathed and revelation by the Holy Spirit.By unity in Christ the Jews and Gentiles were to become one people to form the church. By being together in Christ with the Jews and being the church, God lives through the Spirit in us. Therefore we must obey the Holy Spirit. Unbelief and denying that God reveals HImself to us & the church is denying the Holy Spirit and gives Satan a chance to enter. God & the Holy Spirit will not stay where evil lurks.
