Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? Moses was reflecting the glory of God. The same way when we live in fellowship with God our lives will reflect His glory. Moses veiled his face so that the people would not see the fading glory of the law. The people’s face did not glow in Moses’ time because they were spiritually blind by not having Jesus Christ. The glory of God in Moses’ time was temporary. Its function was to reveal sin, and to show the holy requirements of God. Today we are blessed freely by His grace through redemption that is in Jesus Christ. The Power of God was in him like a light bulb powered by electricity; he had to glow!!! Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? The people could not handle the Glory without a buffer. It would be the essence of waking up with a light in your face. The Glory was too strong for the average person. Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? God only dealt with Moses on their behalf. The glow is NOT transferable. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? Unlike Moses time; we all have the Glory. Those who are walking with God reflect His Glory as well, though many do not understand why, they are just magnitized to that person. He covered his face because the people were afraid to come near him and probably because he didn't want the people see the glow on his fade away . (2 Corinthians 3:7-11) Why did Moses face glow?When Moses asked the Lord to show him His glory (Ex 33:18) the Lord said "There is a place beside me, I will stand you on the Rock and hide you in a cleft of the Rock" (What a beautiful revelation of Jesus beside His Father, the second person of the Trinity, in that statement) and covered him with His hand allowing Moses to see his back, but not His face when His glory passed by. Moses had an intimate relationship with God in which the Lord allowed His glory to be shown in their meetings. Moses face reflected the time spent in God's Presence.Why did he cover it when he was out with the people?The people were afraid to come near him (Ex 34:30). He wanted the people to be in awe, and "fear" of the Lord, not of himself. The apostle had referred to the transient brightness of Moses' face, as a symbol of the passing glory of his ministry. Here he uses the fact that Moses veiled his face as a symbol, in two ways. First, it symbolizes the obscurity of the revelation made under the old dispensation. As the brightness of Moses' face was covered, so spiritual or evangelical truth was previously covered under the types and foreshadowings of the Mosaic system. Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? We use no disguise, "as Moses put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel might not look steadfastly upon the end of that which was to be done away" Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? You could not live and look at God face to face, He is too holy and His power is so mighty, our normal body could not handle that much glory. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? He covered his face because it shone so & I think they were distracted by it. God didn't allow many people in that day to come near Him. Moses' face glow because he met God face to face and asked Him to show His glory. He covered his face, because he frightened the peoplr. Now I guess most people weren't looking for God, and didn't care about Him. In Moses' days, the Spirit came on people every now and then. In our days, the Spirit comes to stay in Christians. Moses prayed for God to show him Gods glory. God did, and yet went the extra step so all the Israelites could get a faint reflection of His glory. This would enable them to KNOW God was watching over them. Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? He didn't cover up immediately, but let them see himself as Gods reflection, just a little bit of the glory of God, but then he covered his face as they were frightened, afraid to approch him. Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? That was a gift from God to Moses in answer to prayer. All the more impressive as this was a once only, one person gift. The Israelites were complainers, backsliders, idol worshipers and God was showing them a touch of His glory. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? Gods glory was spread person to person, face to face, thru prayer and worship in Moses time. Thru great leaders. In Moses time, God spoke directly, out loud, or thru images like the burning bush, visions and dreams. In our day, Gods glory is still spread person to person, but we have tv, radio, tapes, cassettes, and best of all, the Bible. He covered it becausehe knew that the glory was fading and passing away and he didn' t want the people to see the glory disappear. The glory disappeared because too much depended on sinful man and so judgement took its place. The law cannot save only the Lord can. The Spirit was only temporary in OT times but now we have the Spirit wth us all the time to go and spread the gospel of the light of Jesus Christ come to us in pure grace and glory and that will not fade away. Moses Face glow because He has been in the presence of God..talk to God face to face...and the Glory of God still shines and reflect in Moses face. I guess perhaps the best picture we have of this is what happens to our skin when out in the unprotected presence of the sun, as we end up with the radiant “glow” of sunburn! But this divine brilliance on Moses’ face was fearsome to the people. They knew that no ordinary man could endure gazing on the presence of God. Exodus 34:30 tells us the people were afraid to come near him. Perhaps this is one reason he covered his face. But I think it was primarily a spiritual reason. 2 Corinthians 3:13 reveals that the veil over Moses’ face represented the veil God has allowed over the eyes of those under the old covenant of law. This covenant was designed to be the temporary precursor to the enduring superior covenant of grace through Christ. The true glory of God’s literal presence within man (not just among men) was hidden from their sight. At that time, no one else could radiate the glow of His glory because no one else on earth had this privilege of meeting with God. In Moses’ time, this reflection of glory to the world was an outer glow, just as everything about this first covenant relationship with God was an outer, exterior work. In our own time under the covenant of grace, everything is about the inner work of the Spirit. Our intimate time spent with the Spirit creates the glow from within that affects our personality and character. This inner brightness translates to a brilliant glowing quality of the person. He was reflecting God's glory from being in His presence. He covered His face after wards, because when the people saw it, they were afraid and didn't want to come near Him. The spread of God's glory in Moses' time was different because of the covenant of the law. The Holy Spirit didn't dwell in everyone, but was present in some for a time and specific purpose. Moses asked to see God's glory, so he was favored, but most of the people feared God. (Not as in respecting Him, but as in being afraid of Him. Condemnation.) They distanced themselves from God where as Moses drew close. He grew in relationship and trust knowing God's forgiveness and character. The law in Moses' time, condemned and was met through sacrifice of animals/blood and were repeated. No one was ever sanctified as no one could ever meet the requirements of the law. Today, we have One who did meet the requirements of the law. Jesus Christ. He became the final sacrifice in atonement for everyone's sin. By Him we are made righteous and God's Holy Spirit can live in each one of us. We can approach the throne of God without fear as we are made children of God through Jesus. The new covenant is one of love and relationship, with our purity in Christ. Love for God and for each other. It's interesting that Moses was in relationship also. A fore-shadowing of what was to come. God wants our love and for our motivation to be from love....not just how perfect we can be following the rules. He wants us to truly love others....not just to do the "right" things. There is a difference. He wants our trust in forgiveness and in His goodness. Moses' face took on a glow because he was communing with God and was being "changed into His likeness" by God's spirit. Moses veiled his face because the people were afraid of the glow of God, they were in fact afraid of God and refused to come into communion with Him-this is why more people did not experience that glow. The difference between the spread of God's glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own, is that now, when we accept Christ, the spirit dwells in us and is always with us. We don't have to go to a sacred place or seek God out because His spirit stays in us. This outward display of God's glory is similar to the concept of the "fragrance" or "aroma" of Christ in that it is another physical manifestation of a spiritual experience and it also can draw others to Christ through us, or repel others; depending on their individual choice to either seek after truth, or close it out. He covered his face once he realized that it shone and frighten the people as they were afraid of being stricken down by God. The reason more peoples faces didn't glow was because stuborness, self interests and self perservation at that time was getting in the way. The difference today between the spread of God's Glory in Moses' Time to our time is that we have so many avenues to connect with God. To be in close commune with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The radiance of God's presence filled the tent of meeting and was reflected on Moses' face when he came out. Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? It is my understanding that the glow on Moses' face faded after a while and he didn't want the Israelites to see that. They were a stubborn and rebellious people and Moses was genuinely concerned that they would lose heart. Witness what happened when he was gone for that time on the mountain receiving the Law. They knew he was up there talking with God but still made the golden calf! Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? We have to understand the uniqueness of the time. Moses was leading a nation that had largely not known God. God had to make special things happen in order to keep them on track. Moses' leadership was often in question and therefore God made his face glow to remind the people that Moses was in fact His representative. So why didn't Aaron's face glow when he also met with God? Aaron's ministry was plan B. God called Moses. It was only Moses' reluctance to accept the mantle of leadership that made God bring his brother Aaron in on the deal. Besides, Aaron was the one who made the golden calf. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? The glory of God reflected on Moses' face faded after a time. The Holy Spirit had not been given to the general population. In our time today we have the Holy Spirit in every true believer. Our faces don't glow as such but it is still possible for a Christian to somehow recognize another believer without actually telling each other of their faith. And I think Moses' radiant face was an indication of the presence of God and His power to change a person. Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? I think people were becoming afraid of him whenerver they saw his face glowing and as a result he had to cover it. Why didn't more people's face glow in Moses'time? I think it is because of the weak faith. I remember how they were always troubling Moses whenever they were encountering problems and even to the extent of blaming God. What's the difference between the spread of God's glory in Moses'time when compared to our own time? The difference is that, during Moses' time the glory was of the law and was not permanent; it faded. During our time, the glory is of the Spirit and is permanent. Moses' face glowed because he'd been in the presence of God, and received the law from God. The people couldn't stand to see the glory because they were sinful and had no relationship with God (and mostly didn't want one). The day we live in is in the greater glory of the New Covenant where all believers are welcome and accepted by God to dwell in his presence; we are forgiven and accepted. He was different, the glow may have scared some, or it might have brought unwanted attention to him Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? In the OT, the glory was temporary, and few had one on one encounters or the hunger to seek God face to face. What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? In the OT, the glory was temporary, after Jesus died on the Cross, the Holy Spirit lives in us and we can experience His glory anytime we choose to, when we put all of our "stuff" aside and give in to the spirit. Moses face glowed because he had contact with the glorious God and God's glory shone on him. After Moses, it appears to me that the people after him did not have the dgree of intimacy Moses had with God. This probably explains why they did not glow like Moses did. During the time of Moses, God's glory through the Spirit of God shone only on Moses. After him, (and in our time), the spiirit of God that gives life through the Lord Jesus Christ shone through whoever had recieved Jesus Christ. And when he came out of the tabernacle, his face was so bright that it made people afraid. So Moses put a veil on his face so he could talk with people. God only talked face to face with Moses. Being in God's very presence would make anything glow with glory. Moses was not perfect, but God decided to talk with Moses face to face and not with any other person.
