Q4. Jesus' Authority

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

According to Daniel 7:14, the Son of Man was all authority, glory and sovereign power by the Father. Because Jesus was given authority, his miracles shows the authority he was given. For example, he made the blind man see and brought a girl back to life. There are many miracles he perform and that shows his authority.

Jesus was given all authority it is delegated to all those who are follows of Christ. When we pray and end the prayer for with "in Jesus name", shows his authority which is given to believers in him. There is no limit to the power we have in Jesus name. It becomes limited to those who lack faith in Jesus name. If you don't believe deep down in your heart that it is power in the name of Jesus, the exercise of his power is very limited.

The extent of the Son of Man's authority:  Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.'" (Matthew 28:18)

His glory": "He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. Indeed, the glory in Jesus' miracles lies in his authority.

Use of Jesus name:  The authority is in the Name of Jesus, which the disciples use in faith. "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." (Acts 3:6)

Power now:  He has given us that same power in Jesus name, since then, the world has never been the same, because men and women of faith have been equipped with the Name.

What limits exercise of this power?:  doubt, fear, unbelief.

A. All dominion and All glory is His without exception and is forever for eternity! He is Sovereign over all.

B. He has given us His Name as His ambassadors to use His authority as though He is speaking.

C. The only limit is unbelief and lack of faith.

Q4.
According to Daniel 7:14, what is the extent of the Son of Man's authority?
Of His glory?
How is the use of Jesus' name in prayer and command a form of delegating His power?
How much power do we have in Jesus' name?
What limits the exercise of this power?

The Son of Man is given authority over all, the Father has placed everything in His hands (John 3:35). And as a result of His work of redemption God gave Jesus authority over all mankind (John 17:2). This authority existed even while our Lord was here on earth. In Matthew 9:6 we read that Jesus had the power and authority to forgive sins, proving that He was God.

Through His Miracles His glory was made known.

Jesus had delegated His power to His disciples, He gave them the authority to cast out unclean spirits and to heal all kinds of diseases (Matthew 10:1). Later He sent out another 72 to heal the sick (Luke 10). We read they returned with joy as they had found miraculous powers given to them. Not only did they heal the sick but they found that they had the power to cast out demons; not in their own name and strength, but in the name, and through the power, and by the authority of Christ. They were astonished at the powers they had received.

As true believers I feel confident that there are no limits to this power, as long as we are in a true relationship with our Lord, and that it is used to glorify our Heavenly Father.

According to Daniel 7:14 the extent of the son of man's authority is power over all nations, all people and all sovereign languages.

His glory was seen in his miracles, his transfiguration, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension to heaven where he sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Using Jesus name in prayer is giving him authority over all evil spirits, sickness and diseases.

Our own lack of faith in the Lord would limit the exercise of his power in our prayers and living.

Q4. According to Daniel 7:14, What is the extent of the Son of Man's authority? Of his glory? How is the use of Jesus' name in prayer and command a form of delegating his power? How much power do we have in Jesus' name? What limits the exercise of this power?

a)     According to Daniel 7:14, what is the extent of the Son of Man's authority ?

The Sovereignty and Authority of Jesus Christ, the Glorious Son of Man is ABSOLUTE. But Jesus, has also entrusted each and every one of us the authority to bring the Good News to all the unreachable people all over the world telling them to hear the voice of God calling everyone irresistibly.

Jesus said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18~20)

B)    What is the extent of the Son of Man's of His Glory ?

The Glory of the Son of Man is the Glory of the highest degree. Christians should never doubt that for He said, “For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done. Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

The little doubt the disciples had must have disappeared when they were told about the proleptic vision of Jesus’ Glory in His Transfiguration by Peter, James and John. The three also added God’s repeat of His commendation oracle which He uttered at Jesus' baptism, revealing Jesus' identity as both Messiah and suffering Son of Man.  But here He adds an allusion that indicates that Jesus is the promised prophet God said, “This is my Son, the Beloved;  with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5) The Glory of the Son of Man and the future transformation of the world is revealed.

c)     How is the use of Jesus' name in prayer and command a form of delegating his power?

Like St. Paul, we too, must include ourselves with other Christians all over the world when we pray in the Glorious Name of Jesus.Paul. . . to the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call one the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours.

There is a commanding power in the name of our Lord Jesus, as Peter found out, Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. (Acts 3:6~8)

It is essential for us to recognize the importance of worshipping Jesus through prayer, because we know He is worthy of worship, and that He even demands worship. Jesus commanded us to honor the Son just as we honor the Father. “…. that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.” (John 5:23) Only then can we experience the power and glory of the Son of Man.

d)    How much power do we have in Jesus' name?

We must believe that the healing power from God has already been in every in every baptized Christian. This is authority given to us Christians and we must understand, learn and release this healing power with authority in the name of Jesus to see miracles happen.

The amount of God’s authority given to us will not be released if we don’t do it with the authority, hence there needs to be a radical renewing of our mindset in this area. But, we must be aware that we can do good and bad with this authority – Satan is not using some superhuman authority against us – he’s using the power and authority that was given to every Christian by God. Hence, Satan cannot do anything to us without our collaboration and consent.

e)     What limits the exercise of this power?

First and foremost I believe that we cannot even understand let alone comprehend power unless Christ, the hope of glory is in us. In order to have and exercise the full extent of that power, we must be “always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” (2 Cor 4:10) When the case is not so, even the smallest limit of power cannot be exercised or released complete with it's authority.

5. The lack of faith limits the exercise of power. We must have faith to please God. Fear and sin is a limit, too.

This one “who looked like a man” is the Messiah. Jesus used this verse to refer to himself (Matthew 26:64; Luke 21:27; John 1:51). The clouds of heaven portray the Son of Man as divine; throughout the Bible, clouds represent his majesty and awesome presence. God’s glory appeared in a cloud in Exodus 16:10 and 19:9 at the giving of the law at Sinai.

Luke 9:1-2 - NLT

One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” Jesus’ methods of leadership. He empowered his disciples, gave them specific instructions so they knew what to do (9:3-4), told them how to deal with tough times, and held them accountable .

He gives you the ok to use his name.

The power we have in his name is to heal and deliver souls from bondage.  Unbelief limits the use of this power.

The Son of Man's authority is unlimited and his sovereign power is everlasting, that will not pass away and his kingdom will never be destroyed and ends.

All the people of all the nations will have to worship Him and praise His name and glorify Him.

He has given His power and authority to his disciples to use His name and heal the sick, drive the demons out, and now the same power is given to us also as He has delegated to us to continue the spread of his kingdom.

we have unlimited power to use His name to deliver souls from various bondages.

The Son of Man has authority over everything. He glorifies everything. We are using Jesus to intercede for us so we use His name in our prayers. We have all the powers that Jesus has if we just believe. We limit the exercise of this power because of our belief and faith.

He has authority and power to effect change - seen in His glory and in the kingdom; authority over all things (everything under His control); no restrictions given; can support and offer forgiveness; gives us the ability to recognize His rulership and yield to Him

Delegating: using His name (we are given His authority to bring all things to be subject to bow before Him); power by using His name (stand on Him, His promises and His will); being in faith that things would change - unbelief limits Him

Glory seen by the light of His presence; giving Him honor and walking in the light

Jesus' authority is great.  There is no limit. He has been given full access and authority as granted by His Father in heaven.    Jesus has given us this same authority in his name.  There are actually no limits, except what we have limited ourselves.

His authority is unlimited and everlasting, that all nations, and languages , should serve Him.   His glory is the same unlimited and everlasting that shall not pass away, and His dominion and Kingdom shall not passed away nor destroyed.  Jesus said anything that you ask in my name God will give to you.  If it’s God’s will it will be done, Jesus Christ also said have faith in God.  If you have the faith of a grain of mustard seed you shall say to this mountain be removed and placed over there, and nothing shall be impossible to you.   It is showing Jesus Christ’s power when He is telling people to ask the Father for anything in His name.  We have unlimited power in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But we must believe and not doubt and we shall have whatsoever we desire if it’s in God’s will. The only thing that limits this power is that it has to be in the will of God, a lot of times we pray and don’t receive, but that’s not because God wasn’t listening or is ignoring us.  Many times God is saying I have something better for you, God see’s the whole picture He knows past, present, and future.  So if you pray and don’t receive, don’t give up on God, you’ll find you pray for something else and it shall be your’s in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Q4. According to Daniel 7:14, what is the extent of the Son of Man's authority? It doesn't say specifically, but it seems like all authority has been given to Him because all peoples and nations worship Him.  This is verified in Matthew 28:18 where Jesus explicitly says that all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him.

Of his glory? Again it does not say explicitly the extent of His glory but it is assumed all glory has been given Him because all people worship Him.

How is the use of Jesus' name in prayer and command a form of delegating his power? Phil. 2:9-11 answers this best.

"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father."

How much power do we have in Jesus' name? We have all power.

What limits the exercise of this power?  Lack of knowledge of the authority we have in His name.  Fear and unbelief also limit us greatly.  Jesus said that the religious leaders couldn't believe in Him because they sought the glory of man more than the glory of God.  Christ lives in us but we have buried Him out of fear.

The Father has given the Son of Man all the authority, power and Kingdom and that all the peoples should serve Him because His dominion is from everlasting to everlasting. This serves as a reminder that kingdoms come and go but God's Kingdom is from eternity to eternity. His glory is upon all those who believe that He was, and is and is to come and that we will see His glory when He comes to fetch His bride.

The name of Jesus is above all other names therefore when we call His name we declare that everything under the sun does not have power and that everything bows down to the name of Jesus. Therefore, when we call His name, we are confident that God hears our petitions and supplications and answers everything according to His will.

We have power in when we call in the name of Jesus because He says we will do greater exploits than that which He has done.

The limits come come when we lack faith. We need to believe that God has given us dominion over everything on earth. When we declare that the just shall live by faith and we by faith and not by sight, we declare that the power is not from us but from believing in the name of Jesus that has conquered all.
