Judy Ferguson Posted January 22, 2005 Report Share Posted January 22, 2005 There is no point in asking God for wisdom if we already have an idea in the back of our mind that when we receove it we will decide whether we want to follow God's wisdom or make our own decisions without reference to God at all. If that is our position we simply will not receive wisdom from God, but He will allow us to stumble along on our own. Trials help us to receive this wisdom because we often find ourselves in a place where we are unable to help ourselves and are at a loss as to what we should do. There is only one thing left, and that is to ask God and trust His answer. And I for one can testify to the fact that when this happens things always come out for the best, even if it didn't seem to make sense at the time. We must know that what we ask for God is eager to listen and will give what we ask. By testing we learn and so we grow in faith and grow stronger. Solomon asked wisdom to guide God's people, and because of this request, God bestowed riches as well to Solomon. 2 The condition is that we ask in faith, not with a half-hearted request. We must not be double-minded , but have ourselves committed to what God would have us to do. 3. Trials help us receive wisdom because they point out the areas in our life that need correction, they drive us to our knees to cry out to God for direction in our lives. How do trials help us receive this wisdom? The promise to claim is wisdom from God. But we must ask in faith with a single-mindedness, not doubting, but with pure motives. Otherwise, we won't be able to hear God when He speaks to us. We won't have "ears to hear". Trials help by purging us of sin and wrong motives. God promises when we ask to give us wisdom, the condition is that we submit to his will solely without hesitation, if we don't it will be pointless to ask for wisdom because it will not be given to you. So the father gives us wisdom to get us through trials of our faith, so that we will know if we really believe. If we do, we get the crown. The condition is that we must believe in what we are asking and not doubt what God will give. God may not answer in the way we wish, but his wayis the right way. Trials may help us to expand on our faith and belief knowing that if I come with a clean committment, zi will be able to hear what God is telling me. One can not receive with out faith. Trials dvelop our faith in God and by doing so the more trials we pass through the more we trust in God and request for His wisdom. Trials help us receive this wisom because they give us a greater understanding of God's ways and what He wants from us if we will but give these things over to Him. But when we ask we should accept it in good faith and that is the condition. Wow...all Christians can have more wisdom, but we have to remember - 'This wisdom is not of this world' and that is why the rest of the world may not appreciate this wisdom. We probably dont to. We must BELIEVE & NOT DOUBT. That's hard! Most of us new christians have lived doing things our way until we got saved. Now we must let God tell us how to do it His way. He will do it no doubt. It may not be what you want but it is what He wants and that is all that matters. How do trials help us receive this wisdon? It's hard at first but the more trials you go through the easier it get's to listen and DO what God is telling us. We build our FAITH & TRUST & BELIEF in God. It teaches us to clean ALL our filthy rags (sin) off of us every time we go to God for help. When you do that you will hear very clearly what God is saying. Now if your not sure if it is from God. Go ahead and test the spirit. God doesn't mind. If it's not from God the spirit will not acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. If it is from God he will be very pleased that you are learning.1John 4:1-3 " Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.2 This is how you can regonize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist. which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world." Hope this helps with doubt. But before you ask ,you must ask yourself ,am i sure this is what i want ,and you should not doubt yourself or you will be lost. In our lives we have many trials ,and when they come upon us ,we should stop and evaluate them,and if we don`t know we should pray about it , and talk it over with your Pastor. This is the only way you can get wisdom,from trials and tribulations,in life. You should also thank God for letting you know what is right and wrong. How do trials help us receive this wisdom? The promise in verse 5 is wisdom. We need to be sure that we really want it and are willing to listen to it. I remember times when I have asked for wisdom, received the wisdom and then decided that was not what I wanted to hear.During trials we get to a point when we do not know what to do and we cry out to God for the wisdom to get through the trial. We tend to stay more focused on God when we realize that we are not in control. I like to say that trials are only opportunities for growth.
