Q2. Basis of Appeal

Recommended Posts

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

Nehemiah appealed to God on the basis of His Word.God had scattered His people and only He could gather them.God promises to do that and Nehemiah puts God into rememberance of His Word.

He goes to God humbly asking for forgiveness and then He reminds God of His promise and appeals to His mercy.

We must know God and His will and His promises then we can and should stand on the promises of God.

Nehemiah's apeal was reciting God's promise to Moses.(Scatter",and I will "gather".Nehemiah argues his case before God by how he quotes back to God his own words and promises.Nehemiah ends his prayer by appealing to God for his servants. What I learn about this in intercession is that it is ok to remind God of his promises as we pray to Him.We must learn to know God just as God knows us.To know God is to love God,just as God loves us.

What is the basis of Nehimiah's appeal?

Promises that God had previously made to the Israelites thru Moses.

How does he argue his case before God?

Nehimiah reminds God that if the Jewish people return to Him and become obediant, He will gather them back to Israel from where they had been scattered.

What do we learn from this about intercession?

That we can pray God's promises back to Him and remind Him of them.

This should never be done for selfish reasons, but to ask the Lord to move on behalf of others.

1. The basis of Nehemiah's appeal is asking God to REMEMBER the covenant He made with His people, that He would not forsake them, but upon repentance would restore them into fellowship with Him.

2.How does he argue his case before God?

Nehemiah argues his case before God, but bringing to His remembrance

His WoRD TO hIS people. The scripture says that God is not a man that He

should lie. When God speaks a promise , then it will come to pass.

3. What do we learn from this about intercession?

We learn that the Word of God is the foundation upon which our faith rests.

We also learn that what God has promised, He is able to perform. God is

always waiting for the backslider to come to his senses and repent, knowing

that His God is a merciful and forgiving God.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal?

He reminds God of His promise to scatter the people if they do not follow God, but to bring them back if they return to Him. He asks God to fulfill what He has promised in His Word.

How does he argue his case before God?

He argues his case by first acknowledging God's greatness and identifying with his people. He also reminds God of his promises to restore his people. He also tells God that when Jerusalem lies in ruins and its people are oppressed, this reflects badly on God.

He reminds God that He redeemed His people at great cost and that his people delight in serving God.

What do we learn from this about intercession?

I have learned it is important to know what God has promised about situations and to pray confidently, knowing God will honour His Word. It is also a reminder to pray in a dedicated, serious way about issues. It is okay to remind God of His promises and indeed He seems to encourage us to do so.

Nehemiah based on God's Promises He made through the Prophent Moses , and he argued also basing on the same promise God made that If His people would turnt from their evil ways , God would restore them . From this I learnt that , God is in the business of working through His people to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks.God often shapes people with personality characteristics , experiences, and training that prepare them for His purpose , and usually people have no idea what God has in store for them

Nehemiah appealed to God with the understanding that Yahweh had told Moses that He would restore that nation and it's scattered people at the time of their return to Him as their God. Like Daniel, Nehemiah repents on behalf of the people reminding God that they would be returned to the place of His name, for His glory.

As we intercede for people we need to approach Jesus with a knowing spirit, that is praying to His will according to the given circumstances, doing so with a repentant heart. Effective intercession depends upon knowledge of God's character and nature found only in His word.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

He used God's promises's reminding Him of what He said to moses,

He had faith in God's word, and he believed it to be true.

We also must believe in, and have faith in His word, as we pray it back to him

when we are acting as a intercessor on behalf of others.

Q2.1 (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal?

Q2.2 How does he argue his case before God?

Q2.3 What do we learn from this about intercession?

A2.1 His basis is God's promise to His people.

A2.2 By reminding God of His promise.

A2.3 Oftentimes, intercession is effective when we invoke past words or promises given by the one to the people or cause we are praying for. God needs reminders I think. It makes Him happy to hear that His believer(s) remembers His words.

Nehemiah based his appeal on the past actions of God, and His reputation as sovereign Lord and shephered of the His People. Nehemiah argued by reminding God of His promises to the Jews as written in the Bible. When we are saying intercessory prayers we should begin our prayers with confession, followed by a reading from the promises of God as written in the Book, then ask for our petitions.

His prayer was based on the Word of God and the promise God had made to the Israelites.

He humbles himself before God asking for forgiveness and reminding God of the promise He made

What do we learn from this about intercession?

To have faith and remember that even though we sin every day of our lives, God will be there with open arms to forgive us.

 The basis of Nehemiah's appeal is what God had told Moses, that he would scatter them if they were unfaithful and what he would do if they returned to him, gather them.

Nehemiah argues his case before God quoting back to God his own words and promises. He tells God they are his servants who desire to fear his name and prosper.

What we learn about intercession is first we should seek God and his forgiveness for our sins. Then we should use God's own words and promises in our prayers.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal?

Nehemiah's appeal was on the basis that God promised to gather the children of Israel and bring them to the place He has chosen as a dwelling place for His Name; if they returned to Him and obeyed His commandments.

"Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.'" (1:8-9)

How does he argue his case before God?

He argues his case by reminding God of His words to Moses.

What do we learn from this about intercession?

We must study God's Word, meditate on it and as Nehemiah did, recall God's Words in prayer.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

Nehemiah appeals to God on the basis of God's own promises that He has made to Moses concerning the nation of Isreal. He uses his knowledge of the God's Word to remind God of His promises. We get huge results whe we pray the word of God. Calling forth HIS promises to us and calling forth HIS mercy and forgiveness. Praying Gods promises over our selves, families, churches, and nation.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

The basis of Nehemiah's appeal is God's Word found in Deuteronomy Chapter 30. A sample of that passage reads: "When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations, and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you." (Deu. 30:1-3).

We learn from Nehemiah's intercessionary prayer that there is a basis for intercession in God's Word. We can and should use God's promises found in His Word to base our own prayers of intercession. God honors His promises.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

He is appealing on behalf of the people, and God's promise of restoring Isreal no matter how far from Jerusalem He exiled them. He reminds God that they are His chosen people and He made them a promise and that it is to His Glory and power to show He can and will keep His promises. We learn that to pray for intercession weneed to first know God's word and then pray it back to Him and to honor Him first and too give Him the praise for being who He has always been.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

The basis of Nehemiah's appeal is reciting instruction/promise that God gave to Moses. Nehemiah says God has scattered because of the sin of his people. Now, they are returning to God and being restored to Jerusalem. The walls and gates are in ruins and the people are being oppressed by enemies in God's own city.

Nehemiah asks God to give him favor as he petitions to his king to be allowed to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city.

We can pray as Nehemiah did by praying his word. We have to study his word to know what God has done for others and promised to others so we can intercede by using His word.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

Nehemiah went to God's Word and found God's promise for those who obey. He simply stated that God promised Moses that He would help if the people would obey Him. So, this is what we must do, if we want God to help us in time of need. Confess our sins and quote scripture that appies to what we are asking. This is not a formula-it is simply intercession in it's purest form. God does not need to be reminded what His Word says-we do.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal?

He appeals to God for mercy and for God's "ear".

How does he argue his case before God?

He confesses on behalf of the nation of Israel, calling to remembrance God's promises both for calamity for disobedience and mercy for repentance and return to Him. Supplication on behalf of God's people.

What do we learn from this about intercession?

Confession clears the air when sin creates a blockage between us and the Lord. With a clean conscience it opens up communication which guilt/conviction has shut down. Reminding God of His promises is what He tells us to do. "Keep me in remembrance of My promises..." This also builds our faith when asking Him for help.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

Nehemiah's appeal is based on God's promises. He "argues" based on God's Word. God has told us to keep Him in remembrance of His promises. This, I believe, to keep us "tuned up" to His promises and also to keep us in the relationship with Him. This type of "dialogues" promotes relationship...and that's the whole point.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

The basis of Nehemiah's appeal is that God has restored some of the Israelites to their home in Jerusalem, because they have repented of their sins and are now trying to live in the Law. God has redeemed them, but the work is incomplete, since they are still living under oppression from the Samaritans, under the authority of Artaxerxes, King of the Persian Empire. His arguement stems from this incompleteness, that the Jews should not be forced to live under oppression in their home land. In this prayer of intercession, Nehemiah takes the sins of the Jewish people upon himself - a picture of Jesus Christ who will sonn take the sins of all mankind upon Himself. In praying for others, we must take on responsibility for their sins, if our prayer is to be successful.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

He reminded God that God had said that He would scatter the people if they disobeyed Him but He would then gather them to Himself if they turned to Him in confession of their sins. He sees that God is a God of His Word and that He is faithful and just., so he comes to God with this as his basis of appeal.

Intercession is about standing in the gap for those who have a need and if it means that you have to fast as well, then this must be done.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

Nehemiah quotes back to God his own words and promises of scattering and gathering through repentance and renewal and return of obedience from the returnees-Your Servants, Your People. You redeemed your servants at great expense and they delight in honoring you.

Q2. (1:7-11) What is the basis of Nehemiah's appeal? How does he argue his case before God? What do we learn from this about intercession?

He asked God to remember the instruction He gave to Moses, that even if they had sinned, if they repented and obeyed His commands, He would gather them together from far and wide.

He reminds God that His own Name is at stake. If the people are in disgrace if reflects on His Name.

In intercession, we need to know the word of God, quote it and stand on it "it is written....." Also we need to feel the situation as it is and as it would be when God moved in. We need to find the favour of God.
