Q36. Christian Unity

Recommended Posts

How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

It is not a suggestion but a commandment so we should put as much energy into unity as we do obeying all His commandments. Our love for people and unity could never be as much as Jesus paid by laying down His life so who are we to worry when I feelings get hurt and want to hold a grudge.

Bond of Peace will cement us together in spite of any personal differences. We may feel we have to do this or not do that, wear this or not wear that but the basic Bible principles we should all accept without strife those things that are written is instruction for us all.

By keeping our mind and heart to doing those things that are set in writing for us all and looking through love as Jesus, trying all the harder to look in love when there is intent to argue.

It really takes our entire being so to speak, similar to the work involved in marriage - or any relationship we care dearly about.

Our church is in search for our new pastor, we are learning how important this part of Ephesians is. I am teaching from Ralph's Ephesian study on Wed's and look forward to teaching this part.

Thanks Pastor Ralph for your knowledge and hard work. I recently read a review of this website -how it is a model for free/purchased material, and it is. Good work.

We must as believers put the highest effort of energy on Christian unity.Unity does not just happen ,we have to work at it.As Paul says or teaches us,instead of concentrating on what devides us,we should remember what unites us,one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God.We must guard this treasure, this gift, given to us by God.The Holy Spirit leads us and we must be willing to follow,to do our part, to keep the peace. We focus on God not ourselves. We work with each other in love, which bonds us together(the church) in peace. We work out our differences, share ideas with each other. We are a Team,we stick together.

We need to do all we can to promote unity not only in the local church, but in the universal church as well.

The "bond of peace" are what holds the body of Christ together in the same way wooden beams hold a house together.

In order do have peace rather than dissension, we need to be faithful to the teachings of Jesus.

We must keep the unity of the Spirit and do it in love.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

We must work at it with all of our heart, with all of the power that is within us.

This bond of peace is what holds us together.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

We are to guard and carefully protect christianity unity. This means our energies should be channeled towards preserving this unity.

The essence of Christ's sacrifice on the cross is to reconcile(make peace) sinful men (like us) to a Holy God. Therefore if we have benefited from this reconciliation then we are to ambassadors of the same. Christians are supposed to be gents of reconciliation. We can only do this when we live in peace with ALL MEN (Romans 12:18).

Unnecessary arguments and Dissension IS NOT PART OF CHRISTIANITY. In fact the Bible forbids it (cannot immediately remember the verse). CHRISTIANS MUST DO AWAY WITH THEM.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity?

Since we are to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit, there is no limit to the amount of energy we need to expend.

What is "the bond of peace"?

The bond of peace is what keeps the Body of Christ united.

How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

When there is arguing and dissension then it becomes all about us and there is no peace.

oh boy, we need everything we got and then some. we can't just hold our breath or clamp down on our back teeth or even count to ten, we must focus and center our mind, heart strength on jesus and pray with our spirit.when we strike, it's out of what we know instead of who we know.

Eggs have a binding property when used in baking. They somehow hold together the flour, sugar, and butter in a cake recipe to produce a finished product. I think of peace in a similar way. It is the binding agent the Holy Spirit uses to hold the Body together in unity. As members of that sacred Body, we are called to become, do, and sacrifice whatever it takes in order to guard that most important uniting factor of divine peace - without ceasing. That's the example of Jesus in giving absolutely everything He had in order to gain our position of peace with God.

When we sink into the indulgence of self-interests or self-protection, I think we completely lose focus of this important command and become a disruption to the harmony and co-operation we should be pursuing. Most of our arguments and dissensions are born out of personal preferences and desires, which turn us inward. Then we lose the goal of lovingly functioning together as a whole and we begin to operate as prideful individuals. That can only result in weakening our unity, causing divisions, and undermining our purposes.

We need to apply all of our energy that is necessary to keep the peace which is what is needed for unity. Discord is what causes dissension and it cannot be allowed to exist. It is wonderful when peace exists since that would allow more of our energies to be applied to the service and call we have been given in His name.

Peace bonds us together just a discord breaks us apart. To keep this peace requires us to put all our focus on God and pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us into peace. However, we need to apply ourselves to accomplishing this goal and not rely on the Holy Spirit to do all the work.

The more like Christ we can become, the more peace we can achieve. If we are in disagreement, we must prayerfully work to discern what is right, but loving acceptance can exist even in the face of disagreement and this is most important in achieving the bond of unity through peace. Jesus told us that peace, His peace, would bond us together as His chosen disciples.

It is so much easier to complain and point out faults in others than it is to try and get along. We should spend as much energy as we can in keeping peace and not allowing ourselves to become a part of any problem that can arise in church.

I have been through a broken church, which most people can say that have as well. For a short time, I thought about not going to church at all, the pain was so overwhelming. But that is not in God's plan , we are to keep His Faith and continue to strive and follow His Word. but I have learned not to pay much attention to the idiosyncracies of others around me, and I choose to not set myself up for hurt and focus more on what I should be doing to serve the Lord better.

we must see honestly seeing ourselves as sinners saved only by God's grave. The goal of such worthy living is unity of the spirit in the bond of peace a task best approached with all humility and gentloeness with patience bearing with one another in love.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity?

As much as it takes to remain in unity!

What is "the bond of peace"?

Bondo glue comes to mind...that which holds us together in peace. The Holy Spirit is the "oil" on rusty or squeaky hinges.

How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

We submit our fleshy, self centered wills to the lordship of Jesus, and allow Him to reign, to prevail and bring peace to the situation.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

All the energy we have must be expended on christian unity. Reason being, it is the devil's desire to sow discord between the children of God. Therefore causing us to take our eyes off the reason why God has called us, which is to be a light unto men. The holy spirit resides in us to keep us from falling into this trap. The bond of peace is a glue which causes all christians to stick togeather in the word of God. Therefore traveling in the same direction for God's common cause. God is not the author of confusion, but Satan is!

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3)

How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? As much as is needed to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

What is "the bond of peace"? The force that joins Christians and the church together.

How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

There are many conflicts in the modern church as were in the early church. Our intent is to guard the unity of the church. This is a solemn and earnest petition by Paul.

3a)Considerable energy should be used to get along with brothers&sisters in Christ. We have a command to keep the unity of the faith. :) b)The indwelling Holy spirit will give us strength to prevail &I think is the bond of peace which keeps together members of a congregation/church B) c) To maintain unity we need to focus on what we have in common, rather than our differences. We break down all we built up when we fail to get along with others especially those of like faith. We show weakness of the flesh when we do thing unbecoming a true believer. We must strive to show love for each other always, not giving in to desires of flesh. Living for Christ in peace and love for all men. :D

As much as it takes to get along with one another and to live in love. To get along with, to love, and to forgive one another. We don't do anything apart from Christ so we pray and let Him lead us.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

1. How much energy must we expend on Christina unity?

There really is not a figure because we are charged to Make every effort" endeavoring" "being diligent" to keep unity in the church and we must do it in love. Jesus is Love:

"Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy or boast ... it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

2. How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

To strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension to stay in the word and let the Holy Spriit lead you. As Believers we must be on one accord and how can that be if you are not all toghether (unity). Arguing and dissension is just the opposite.

Q3. (Ephesians 4:3) How much energy must we expend on Christian unity? What is "the bond of peace"? How do we strike at peace when we are intent on argument and dissension?

To expend on Christian unity we must put much energy into it. We must make every effort and be conscientious and zealously make the effort to actively guard this unity.

The "bond of peace" is the ligament which hold together the Body in peace. We are called to be peace makersa and to live at peace with one another.

We strike at peace when we become prideful, thinking trhat our ideas are better of than the rest of the members of the Body of Christ.
