African Renewal Leaders Reconciliation Conference in Eldoret, Kenya, Sept 24-27, 2008
The run up to the presidential election held on December 26, 2007 had dominated
headlines and passions for months. When results were announced on December 30, weeks of violence followed, much of it centering in Eldoret, a city of 200,000 in western Kenya and the fastest growing town in the country. Of the estimated 1,500 deaths reported by the BBC, more half occurred in Eldoret.
Pastor Ralph Wilson was asked to lead a Reconciliation Conference for pastors
and leaders in the area. During the four day conference, 800 registered, 80 from
outside the area from towns in western Kenya.

Hands joined in a powerful prayer for reconciliation. |
A highlight of the conference was a prophetic act of prayer where Kalenjin
pastors and leaders (from the tribe that had done most of the violence) took the
hands of Kikuyu pastors and leaders (from the tribe that was the target of most
of the violence), confessed the sins of their tribe, asked forgiveness, and
prayed for each other. You can see this in a
moving 8 minute video.
Thanks to all of you who prayed for the conference and gave sacrifically to
make it possible.
