He has a strong sense of identity with the Hebrews and in addition has a strong sense of justice. He is decisive and prepared to take matters into his own hands. Maybe the reason he took matters into his own hands was that he didn't trust the Egyptian justice system to provide justice for the Hebrews (we will never know). All of these can be viewed as positive things. He is though rash maybe even hot headed. This can be very negative if left uncontrolled.

Q1. (Exodus 2:11-15a)

What do we learn about Moses' motivations, character, and leadership ability from the incident of him killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster?

The killing of the Egyptian shows that Moses now identifies himself with his people, the Hebrews, despite the fact that he had lived in the palace and had been trained as an Egyptian. I see this as revealing Moses

Moses recognized that he is also a Hebrew what he did is a sort of revenge trying to protect them.

as a leader he thought that is the right thing to do as God called him to lead the people. About

his character he learned to the school where he went. He is aggressive, strong, and smart he is

a good leader for he is willing to sacrifice his life for them.

I think that we see that Moses is identifying with his Hebrew origins. This has an impact on him, as he sees the injustices being done all around to his people. He probably had lived with seeing this for as long as he can remember, but at this point he has an emotional reaction to the events around him (motivation) and kills the taskmaster. This shows that Moses, has a character that allows him to sin, just like the rest of us. Unfortunately it also shows that he was impulsive and did not think things through very clearly, for he is forced to leave Egypt a wanted man. At this point Moses is not ready to be the leader he is to become.

It is interesting to find that Moses may have adopted an arrogant attitude during his growth in the Egyptian palace. Was it this arrogance ( a negative trait) that led him to believe that he could pass by the justice in the Paraoh's court to take maters into his own hands, thus convicting and executing the Egyptian.

Although this would be an oxymoron I find that by defending this Israelite as he did it shows a great love and loyalty to "his" people. His strength allowed him to murder this man and then to bury him in the sand. Unfortunately, his rash action, exposed him to others in the work group.

MOSES SAW SOMEONE BEING TREATED BADLY AND TOOK CONTROL OF THE SITUATION. ALTHOUGH HE WAS ANGRY AND REACTED IN A VIOLENT

MATTER,HE KNEW HE HAD TO TRY TO SAVE THIS PERSON.

MOSES AND HIS NEGATIVE SIDE WAS HE RAN AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM AND COULD NOT CONTROL HIS RAGE.WE ALL HAVE REACTED

WHEN IN A RAGE AND IT CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS.

even though Moses has be raised as a Egytpian he still sees himself as a Hebrew (through his mothers teaching.

He did not like seeing a slave beaten, I don't know if he would have done the same thing if it was not a Hebrew slave

that was being beaten. I would like to think he would have. I beleave he would have been strong, he was probly being

trained as a soldier or officer.

Q1. (Exodus 2:11-15a) What do we learn about Moses’ motivations, character, and leadership ability from the incident of him killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster? What positive things do you see in his character? What negative things do you discern?

Moses realized and identify himself as a Hebrew, and killing the cruel Egyptian taskmaster because he witnessed this taskmaster beating a Hebrew, his motivation was anger towards this taskmaster for mistreating his own kind, his charactive was an heroic act, but was impulsive, out of control showing some form of rage and anger, he did not think about the consequences he may have to face due to his action, and the result was to flee from Egypt. He showed righteous anger and strong sense of basic justice towards others being mistreated. He was in charge of this situation, but his decision was rash, and since he did not know about the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at the time, he seems to have no sense yet of acting for God. Even though he was a Prince of Egypt, I don't think this incident portray any leadership ability, he may had took the lead to determine the fate of the taskmaster, but he was nor recognized and appreciated by the Hebrews at this time in his life for his actions.
