Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The Word of God is the instruction book, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ (God) all are needed to mold a disciples' life. We read, Jesus speaks through the words of the Word and the Holy Spirit helps us discern right from wrong as we repent, trust and continue to follow God's Word. To much is given much is required.

5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The Word of God is God. God is the Word. It is the most important part in molding disciples lives. He molds us and makes us and He speaks to us through His Word.

His Word is living and active. It is power.

One thing have I heard, two things have I spoken that you O Lord have power.

God spake once or twice, I have heard it, that power belongeth unto God.

Both are Psalm 62:11

The Word is living and active in us when we hear it. If we neglect or ignore the prodding of the Holy Spirit it is to our great peril. How it works in us I cannot totally know. It is a beauriful mystery of our great God. However I can feel the working in me and I can feel the Holy Spirit . It is a very real deal if you will.

It is necessary for disciplers to have a good knowledge of the Word and the references.

God Bless

Jen

We are to be reading the Word of God so that it always molding our lives. That is the ultimate authority to all things on this earth. It changes a person’s personality and their attitude on life. The Word of God can change the whole world if we would just believe in it and be praying that the world would be called to God.

What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives?

The Word of God strengthens and builds up the disciple's lives. The Word of God empowers them to speak boldly. the Word of God through the Holy Spirit gives the wisdom and increases their faith. As a double-edged sword, the Word of God ministers to him as well as the people he is speaking to.

Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate?

It does have a power of its own. It operates through the Holy Spirit. As we meditate on the Word, with the help of the Holy Spirit, it gives us new understanding about God and His will for us, empowers us to speak boldly and work it out through healing sicknesses and casting demons.

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

As disciplers we are encouraged by the promises of Jesus who has given us the Holy Spirit which will work powerfully in our lives as we read and meditate the Word of God.By keeping close to the Word of God, God will be close to our heart and lead us to victory.

The role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives has power to change a person from inside out. It's not a overnight change but a change over time. The more you are feed the Word of God, the stronger you become. The Holy Spirit living in disciples do the work and the disciple is only a vessel for God. The Word of God is so powerful that it is more powerful than two sharp edge swords. God's light switch on, and you can't keep it to yourself no matter what the cost! The Word sanctify you to work and produce fruit for God's kingdom.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

Obviously the word of God plays a key role in a disciples life! In Mat 28:19-20 we see part of the great commission is teaching disciples to "obey everything" Jesus commanded, Paul often reminds Timothy of his need of the word (1 tim 4, 2 tim 3 etc) Peter also in his 2nd epistle reminds of the need to remember the words of the OT and Apostles, if they want to grow in the grace and knowledge of God

John chapter 8 spells out Jesus' thoughts on this relationship between discipleship and the word- "truly you are My disciples...if you abide in my word...and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free"

This truth renews our minds and the result is transformation (Rom 12:1-3)

In one sense the word of God is inherently powerful (Is 55, Genesis 1-2, Heb 1:3)

BUT in another sense we see it must be received and believed on in 1 Thes 2:13 if it is to work powerfully within us.

This is seen also in 1 Thes 1:5 where the gospel came with power, conviction, and the Holy Spirit. It was more than words. And Paul add that the Good news is the power of God unto salvation- to everyone who believes

1 Thessalonians 2:13 NIV

[13] And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

The role of the Word of God in molding? Thessalonians 2:13 says once the Word is RECEIVED and BELIEVED it begins to work in us. That is power of and in itself to transform and mold a person. For the disciplers of the Word it is joy unspeakable to see the Word of the Lord in action in those who have received it and believed it. It is our commission to spread this to all and give it as Jesus did.

The Word of God is connected to the Spirit of God nd this is what God uses to convict the hearts of sinners and saints alike.  Jesus rightfully said,  Man will live by "every Word of God".  We as disciplers need to make sure we use His Word and not our reasoning to share with those who are without Christ as well as those who are in Christ.

The role of the Word of God in molding the new disciple is to mold the new disciple into a true follower of Christ. This person will be one who is not afraid to witness for Christ wherever he/she is and will be true to God.

I believe it does have a power of its own. It operates thru the Holy Spirit.

It gives you a conscious that lets you know you are doing wrong or have done wrong.

If they are true disciples, when they are convicted on the Spirit, they will repent and try to straighten out their wrongdoing.

The Word of God has a power of it's own and it operates within the Holy Spirit. New Disciplers must learn to Give words from God directly through the Holy Spirit. Church members need to hear from God not from the person on the pulpit. The Word of God teaches disciplers how to operate in the spirit of God .

Question 2-5

According to John 1 .1-3 we read that the word was God. Hence the developing of the mold for an individual  disciples live is actually in the hands of God and hence is the Word as seen in Jesus. This loving hand reaches out to us and tends to mold us more and more in to the likeness of God. This is the process of sanctification.

The Word then being Christ is the power of Christ and operates as the power of Christ. Because we as heirs of Christ have in our possession the power of Christ this power is available to us through the auspicious of the Holy Spirit who has been un the world in force for over 2000 years and is a source of strength and power that Christians today tend to ignore.

The word of God is the guide book by which we should all live by. This is the ultimate on the perfect life. There is a unique power in the words. They have a way of winding themselves into our hearts and souls. The meaning only come alive when God opens our eyes, ears and hearts to them. These are life- changing words. They will cause us to grow and mature and to copy the life of our brother, Jesus.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The role of the word of God in molding disciple lives is that it changes their thinking and characteristics traits making them stringer in the faith.

God's word has power all it's own, it sets us free from sin, it bolsters our faith and convicts the believer of sin in his life.

The word of God seems to be an active and living truth. It divides between soul and spirit, it creates a fruit that will be visible to others which gives glory to God.

As disciples we can guide new believers into the very truth of Gods word, whether by life experiences and trails, we can model and teach a congregation so that their faith may grow and flourish.

(1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives?

The word of God is at work in those who believe the word transforms the character of disciple’s lives and also produces some effect. The word cleans and also sactifys them by the truth. The word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Does it have a power of its own? The word sets one free from sin and makes them became slaves to righteousness. It is a very powerful agent for change, growth and discipleship.

The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.. Hebrews 4:12

This is why Paul said the Saints received the Word " not as the Word of men....which effectively  worketh also in you ".

Thats why we have a powerless church because corporately the Word is not treated as a living entity

What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives?  What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The "word" is such a protean term. It's meaning is contingent upon what's around it or it's context more than other words in the Bible. For the early Christians, God's word was not the bible, as it had not been written and collected, but two other things: first, the Holy Spirit is their indwelling word; second, the actual words spoken by Paul to the Thessalonians were considered God's word.

In the early church, fellowship was vital because that was the only way the believers could hear the word. It came horizontally as well as vertically.

Does it have a power of its own? Yes, it has a power of it's own, but the word is not a magical incantation that can be chanted to create change. The word dwells within. The change, too, is within. Some people believe that the spoken name of Jesus scares away demons and that sort of thing. No. It's the substance or power of Jesus that obliterates demons and evil powers.

What are the implications for disciples of this powerful action of the Word? I'm not sure how to answer this question. Was discipliers a typo? If so, it's an interesting one! It implies that people who teach, to disciple others, are actually just conduits for His word. We think of ourselves as active, and in a way we really are doing stuff, but God is working through us. His Words are our words. Our words, His Words. My word, God's Word.

This passage indicates that the Word is not intrinsically theological but organically transformational.  The purpose of the Word is sanctification, new birth, and self-examination. The Gospel is power through the Spirit.  The truth of the Word leads to conviction, yes, but it is also for bearing fruit.  The work of the cross is finished already.  We were slaves to sin but now we are set free to be slaves to righteousness through our spiritual rebirth.  We are already clean positionally with God but the transformational work of the Word of truth, defined as the Gospel in Colossians 1,makes rebirth possible.  Nicodemus, well versed in Scripture as both a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council, knew the theology but missed the point. Rebirth made possible by the Spirit only known through the Gospel, literally the Good News.  Peter re-emphasizes this in 1 Peter-the rebirth is spiritual and imperishable not physical.  Access and knowledge of that rebirth comes through both the word of God, Scripture, and the Word of God, unmistakably identified as Christ incarnate in John 1:1.  In Revelation 19:13 John writes again of Christ’s name being the Word of God.  For me, it’s a Gordian knot-how does the word of God and Word of God intertwine?  Yes, the word of God testifies to Christ but the Word of God literally is Christ.  It is the name of God and the testimony to it.
