Q4. The Purpose of Christ's Death

Recommended Posts

By His death He defeated Satan and released us (humanity as a whole) from the power of death and our fear of judgment which was death as a result of sin. Jesus' death overthrew satan and took the authority he had of death from him. So that now as Jesus forgived us of our sins He frees us from the power and consequence of death - the second death which is an eternal separation from God.

Jesus's death gives us access to God te Father and in the end eternal life in His presence.

As a result of Christ's accomplishment - victory over Satan and taking from mhim the keys or authority of death - we no longer have any need to fear death or judgment - which in turn will make the life we will have afetr this present life we now enjoy even greater.

Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15? In what sense is this mission accomplished? In what sense will it see its final completion in the future? What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?

The purpose of Christ's death was to destroy the devil who had the power of death and deliver those who had fear of death which caused them to have a lifetime of bondage because of that fear.

By the risen Christ shows victory over death, we too shall partake of this risen nature when I die and then when He returns then for a glorified body. This is the result that now I will get to be a part of glory when Christ returns to go on with him and not to die.

Jesus had to come in human form, experiencing the same trials, tribulations, and the challenges of life, just as we do. This was his way of relating to us, and conquering all human weaknesses, death and the devil himself. The result is the promise of eternal life, for those who believe in his death, burial, and resurrection.

The final completion: destruction of the devil, the world in its current state, Jesus coming in all his glory, taking his people with him to a life free of sickness, pain, suffering and death.

Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15? In what sense is this mission accomplished? In what sense will it see its final completion in the future? What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?

If we wouldn't have Jesus, we would go to hell.

Because of Jesus, the devil doesn't win so we don't go to hell.

For now, our souls are safe.

In future we will also have a new body.

We have to live according to His will and to avoid sin.

Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15? In what sense is this mission accomplished? In what sense will it see its final completion in the future? What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?

Hebrews 2:14-15- 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage

Answer: The purpose of Jesus death according to verse 14 and 15 is to DESTROY THE DEVIL,AND TO GIVE FREEDOM TO MAN,FROM BONDAGE OF THE FEAR OF DEATH.

The mission was accomplished,by Jesus becoming just like man,..God coming to earth to be like man,his most favorite creation,in Flesh and blood, and live with them. This is necessary, that He became just like man(Flesh and Blood),because it is in this state(flesh and Blood),in human state that man handed to satan the power given to him by God.(Genesis 1:28-And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth).

Its final completion,is when Jesus comes again to judge the living and the dead, and once and for all cast this enemy into the deepest hell(Rev 20:10- And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever)and bring his people, his disciple,in glorified body, and dwell with them in heaven, forever and ever,

Rev. 21:3- And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away

AND BECAUSE OF Christ work in the cross, because of his accomplishment,we can be sure that we will be sharing, and living with Him in heaven, for eternity.

He died to defeat the devil!

We are no longer afraid of death-it no longer has a hold on us!

The devil and his cohorts will be thrown into the lake of fire!

When we give ourselves to Jesus, our conscience is cleared, and we are no longer under condemnation-we are free!!! Glory to God!

1)The purpose of Christ's death was to destroy devil's work and free us from fear of death

2)His mission was accomplished because devil's power had been taken away

3)We will see its final completion when Satan is judged and sent to everlasting torment

4)The result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment is Jesus was the Stronger One by defeating the devil and we are freed from the fear of death. We are no longer in slavery

Clearly, the truth in these verses is that Christ has destroyed the author of sin and freed us from slavery to sin and the fear of death. I'm also reminded as I think about this question that God is beyond our comprehension of time, so that the accomplishment of Christ's atoning death is past, present, and future at the same time. What we will see at the end of the age "already is" from God's true perspective. What is the result in our lives in the here and now? Paul's words in 2 Corinthians are the clearest and most concise... "He made the one who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." Remembering that daily is the challenge as we move forward (and often struggle) in our walk.

The purpose of Christ's death is two-fold: to destroy the Devil and to free us from the fear of death.

Christ holds the keys to death, hell, and the grave. This was accomplished upon the death and subsequent resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. When He arose from the dead, it was by His own power. He conquered death.

There is an old adage that says "The proof is in the pudding". When all creation beholds the risen Savior they will not be able to deny any of what they see.

Christ frees us from the fear of death. Over and over again I have seen non-believers afraid of death because it holds uncertainty for them while true believers may be afraid of how they get there but not of the here-after.

Christ’s death was to destroy the devil’s power over death so that those in bondage to sin could be released. Satan uses the “fear” or death to enslave believers making them think that’s the end instead of a doorway to a new life. Jesus conquered death and exposed the devil’s tricks so that we can have hope of a glorious life after death and not fear judgment.

The purpose of Christ’s death according to verses 14 and 15 is to free us from the fear of death which in turn destroys Satan’s power. The sense that this mission was accomplished is Jesus dyeing on the cross and the resurrection. We will see its final completion when we get to heaven. He will have no power there.

The result in our lives from Christ’s accomplishment is that we don’t have to fear what man can do to the body because we know that they have no power in the life after death.

The purpose of Christ death according to Hebrews 2:14-15 was to destroy the devils power and free us from the fear of death. Through belief and faith in Christ our sins have been atoned for and the fear of God's judgement is no longer a burden to our conscientious.

the two reasons for Christ suffering and death for destruction of Satan's power and our fear of death, was accomplished by Christ resurrection from the dead.

The final conquering of Satan will be when Christ returns to earth and cast into hell for eternity, then God will set up his Kingdom.

The result in our lives from Christ accomplishments is that we have our sins atoned for, Christ has freed us from the power of death and we are guaranteed eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth. He made man in his image to praise him and glorify him and to worship him for all the things he put under man to care for and to rule over. When Adam disobeyed God, he introduced sin into the word and man was separated from God. Because man is flesh and blood, the only way for man to be reconciled with God again, there needed to be someone without sin to intercede on mans behalf.  So God, loving the world so, and full of grace and mercy, sent his son Jesus to earth in the flesh , to redeem man from sin so that he could be reconciled with God the father.  Before that, God gave man the law, and they made atonement for their sins by blood sacrifices of innocent lambs or animals. But God planned for a better way to be redeemed and was preparing his chosen people to show the world what was required of them for forgiveness of sin. Jesus is the only way that man can be reconciled to God, the only way to be forgiven of sins. His death on the cross and his resurrection from the grave is our way to salvation. When we hear the word and believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess our sins and turn from sin and are baptized, God adds us to His church, and we are once again reconciled to him.  We are the kingdom that he made to worship and praise and adore him. Hallelujah for the lamb that was slain for the sins of the world.

Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15? In what sense is this mission accomplished? In what sense will it see its final completion in the future? What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment? The consequence on sin is death.- eternal separation from God (Rom 6:23). In order to pay the penalty that sin requires, Jesus died on the cross. He was God's perfect sacrifice and the atonement for our transgressions. Through death, He defeated the enemy and triumphed over the grave (Jas 1:15) .  We have eternal life and the opportunity to have a relationship with God because Jesus died for us. (Stanley, C. 2009, 2019 The Charles Stanley Life Principles Bible Second Ed.) Jesus did it to destroy the enemy meaning the devil, sin and the grave. and purchase our pardon as well.

The purpose of Christ's death (according to verses 14 and 15 "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death -- that is, the devil -- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.) We must not fear death, but remember we are in eternity now (John 17:3), an are free to follow God's will, joyfully, without hesitation. So what am I waiting for, the invitation has been offered to all who truly believe! So this is mission accomplished!  What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?

We are bondservants to Christ, bought by His blood. There is no final anything, simply His eternal grace. May I remember this later as I re-enter "daily life" after this bible study. This not to be an ADHD moment in my life. I must be sober and faithful and vigilant as much as humanly possible. All glory to His Name.
