What kinds of perils are Christians exposed to today? How does this passage reassure us? In what sense do we Christians "overwhelmingly conquer" (NASB) despite the obstacles we face? They were beheaded, torn or cut into-well, you get the picture. Today, there are Christians experiencing unspeakable terrors because of their faith in Christ. Even in this country, there are things happening that I thought would never happen in a free society. It is so important to study God's Word-to know what it says-and stand. That is how we become overwhelming conquerers. Study, and believe that we are God's children. He will give us strength and courage that we need. I can not make it any other way! Missionaries may face death. But whatever we face can not separate us from God. If we continue on with the race till the end nothing will defeat us. Many people challenge your intelligence or social skills because they cannot believe that anyone could have faith in something that cannot be confirmed in a 'concrete' way. The wonderful thing is we do not have to argue with them; we are only called to pray for them. As Christians, we know the truth about the good news that we were never intended to live in a dying world filled with hatred, violence and greed. Early Roman Christians faced all kinds of tribulation, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, violent death, beating, imprisonment, being burned alive, thrown to the lions, etc. Christians today continue to be exposed to similar persecutions. Nothing else in all creation can separate us from the love of God. Despite the obstacles we face, Christians experience victory or conquer by the blood of the Lamb and testimony of Word. We are exposed to persecution, distress, tribulations, and many are put to death still today. it reassures us that we who are of Christ can not be seperated from Him. No matter what we go thru nothing can take Christ from us if we stay strong in Him. We know that we are not alone, that we have God on our side, all we have to do is stay faith ful and truthful to the end with Christ and we shall rise to glory with Him. The early Roman church had to face extreme conditions, death, fear being abused and taken away from loved ones. Conditions still exist within this world to day for many. I live in an area of comfort and freedom but not all of the blood bought church enjoy this status. It is beholden of us to remember our fellow brothers and sisters who are in peril. Thankfully they and us can be assured that nothing can conquer us while we are in Christ Jesus, what an assurance. The early Roman christians were, to different degrees of intensity at different times, persecuted mercilessly. They were discriminated against, tortured and executed on a regular basis solely on account of their faith. What kinds of perils are Christians exposed to today? Christians today in some places face the same dangers as those faced by the early Roman Christians. Here in the UK, we do not face these dangers and generally the worst that we face is people sneering at us for what we believe and to an extent discrimination because we don't fit in the the crowd. How does this passage reassure us? In what sense do we Christians "overwhelmingly conquer" (NASB) despite the obstacles we face? No matter what persecutions we face, God's love for us is unwavering. Ultimately, we will be victors just as Polycarp of Smyrna was the victor in 155AD. Certainly Polycarp's persecutors ended his life here on earth, but what a hollow victory that was for them against the announcement "Polycarp has confessed he is a christian" and what a victory for Polycarp in the presence of God. They were ostercized, starving, poor, and threatened with death for their faith in God and accepting Jesus as God's son. Today, Christians in this country face ridicule more than any other peril. In other countries, especially Moselem ones and some communist ones, they are forbidden to address Jesus as God's son and to preach the gospel. If they do and are caught, they are put to death or ran out of the country. In other places where voodoo is the religion of the area, they are often threatened to be killed or run out of the area. How does this passage reassure us? We must realize that God loves us, and He will never forsake us, no matter whatever we experience. Nothing can separate His love from us. Even though we may die for Him, He loves us, and we will live with Him forever. His love will give us strength to endure all things. In my country christians get mocked and have to see bad things all the time. For example, gay marriage is legal and it's illegal to say something negative about gays - but the Bible says no(Rom. 1:27). Also there are naked ladies in commercials and **** lies between other videos and magazine. This passage reassures us that all of this can't take away God's love. ANS - We are blessed in America in comparison to what Christians in other parts of the world are having to face. Although the level of "Anti-Christian" political attitude is slowing growing. What kinds of perils are Christians exposed to today? In our country we have freedom of worship although many here take this more has a political agenda. Other countries around the world may not be as fortunate as we are and still face persecution for their beliefs. As Christians we can still face that being set apart, even in this country but ut is something we have to be willing to do. How does this passage reassure us? To be more than a conqueror...to know that nothing can separate us form the love of God makes one breathe that sigh of relief...I am a saved person, a child of God. In the lands that do allow free worship we face everyday struggles just living, in addition to the possibility of being ridiculed for our faith. And always remember we are facing whatever Satan throws our way. This passage tells us that we don't have anything to worry about. That there may be things that can cause us to suffer in this life but that in the next life with Christ we will have been conquerors, overcomers, more than conquerors!!
