Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

I believe that Paul is referring to the fact that men were coming to the alter with hatred on the minds and trying to worship God. Their minds weren't pure, and they weren't only thinking of the Lord.

You are not fully putting everything you have into worship, if you have other things on your mind.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

Ecclesiastes 7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

No unity is accomplished when people harbor anger and resentment toward each other. Their minds are clouded with an " I am right you are wrong" mentality and they can see nothing but their own pride and wilfullness. Their hearts and minds and souls will be shut down from receiving the Spirit. They will be unable to hear God.

The Christ is about, among other things, forgiveness and love. He urges us over and over to temper wrath against each other and forgive. This is not only so that we will do the righteous thing, but so that we will become more godly and know Him better by modeling our spirits to be like His. The consequences of harboring wrath and creating strife by a pigheaded ego, are dire but strangely logical. See Mark 11:25-26

25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshiping with the opposite of love in your heart?

They cannot worship God with a true worship because of what is inside their heart. they can't even pray due to uncleaned conscience.

Like what Matthew said in 5:23-24 before we can worship God with true love, we must first confessed our sins and forgive those who sins against us. to worship God truly, we must put Him in our mind, heart alone nothing more.

--What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse?

Paul is referring to lifting up holy hands in prayer without wrath and doubting.

--What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

God is love and satan is hate. People going to church mad at someone else can misinterpret the message from the word being taught or preached. If a person leaves church thinking I knew I was correct and now I'll go home or to work, etc. and finish arguing my point he has missed God who is Love. Henceforth, instead of him going to worship God he has worshipped satan.

The problem Paul is referring to is that the men are arguing amongst themselves and have bitterness in their hearts.

We cannot worship in this manner, for we will be unable to connect with God. First we must forgive others and ask for forgiveness for ourselves. We must turn away from all bitterness and turn again with love to God.

God bless

The biggest problem in Ephesus was the false teachings. That started infighting. I think that both are what Pauls's talking about here, though the fighting is specifically what he's concerned with.

To come to a place of worship, it means communicating with God. THere are so many things that disrupt that ability to worship God, and one of them is sin. Harboring animosity toward another person is sinful because of where it leads. I heard a sermon where the pastor posed the question what's the difference between hate and murder. He argued that it's the same as the difference between **** and adultery. With these heavy burdens on us, it's impossible to come to a place in our hearts where we can worship.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

Anger and disputing. You can't worship with these in your heart, for Jesus said if you have anything against your brother in your heart, before offering something to God, first go and forgive your brother. Worship is a holy act, one that can only be performed with a pure heart. You can only worship God in Spirit and in truth, you're not being true to the Spirit if you have anger or anything of that nature.

The infighting and angery bickering among the men in the church.

God will not listen to your prayers. They will not be answered.

In this verse Paul is referring to the disputes that had arisen in the church as a result of the false teaching. Because prayer was is such an vital and important role of the church for the realization of God's global vision for the salvation of the world, Paul is teaching that praying with anger and malice in one's heart before the Lord is just going through the motions as (Isaiah

1:15-16 clearly tells us ""When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; wash and make yourselves clean."

This verse and much like (Mt 5:23; 6:12, 14-15; Jas 4:3; 1 Pet 3:7) makes it emphatically clear that prayers offered with anger and malice in ones heart is unacceptable before the Lord.

Prayers acceptable must come from holy, purified hearts. We must remember that when we pray , our prayers or not uttered to men, but to with a holy God, who demands of that we deal with our sins before approaching his throne.

Second, Paul stipulation that our prayer be without anger or disputing helps us to understand that acceptable prayer must come from people in right relationship with one another. Many Christians are ignorant to the fact that wrong relationship with fellow believers can hinder our prayers.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

The problem is of leadership in public worship. Who were to conduct this worship? There seem to be a problem about the role of the female. Some seem to insist that only male should be the only one to conduct publish worship. Paul describes women as praying in public in some of his other letters.

Biblical prayers must be done with a clean heart and life. Worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart carries the idea of disputing. Prayer is to be offered without resentment or disputing among those in the church.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

Two men had left the church and returned to the ways of the world. Paul doesn't want to see any more of this, so he exhorts the men to be constantly prayerful. He is suggesting this as men together in community (as distinct from individual prayer). Men need community in their Christian activities to build each other up and strengthen each other, giving account also to each other, and saving one another from error or from wandering away. Their community networks need to be strong, prayerful and responsive. The men are the leaders and where they go the rest of the church will likely follow, so the quality of their fellowship is urgently essential. Lifting up holy hands means that the men's faith operates in church and also in daily living where people are all treated as if they were Christ Jesus Himself, with great love, understanding and wisdom. Without wrath means that response to anger is controlled and effects excellent results, is not spontaneously explosive, but achieves good in a bad situation. Without doubting means that confidence is always to be placed entirely in the ways Jesus has taught us, and not on average (normal?) human thinking patterns. They were not to play with ideas that are anathema to truth, but to know, and therefore believe the Gospel in every part.

If worship is motivated by any other factor than love, then it will become plastic and dry out in time. Love is passionate relationship with God and the only way that will drive activity in the right direction. "By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you love one another" said Jesus. Love focusses not on self but on the other. When the focus is on self then Christian activity will be twisted into something unlike what Jesus looks for. If love is not the motivation, then all the worship, preaching and prayer in the world will be ineffective - just a big noise and a jumble of nothing. (! Cor 13:1-8).

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

Those involed in leading public worship is not to have wrath (slow, boiling type of anger) and doubting (to think backward and forward causing disputing). If believers do not have good relations with others in the Church they should not lead in public worship. Prayer is to be offered without "Resentment" or "Disputing" amoung those in the Church.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

The men in the congregation were praying and worshipping with anger and strife in their hearts. They were raising their hands as if loving the Lord but in life were not doing anything that the Lord was asking of them. We are warned of a doing just this in other places. We are told that the Lord will hide his eyes from us if we do not cleanse ourselves from just this very thing

Isa 1:15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

Isa 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Jesus also warned us not to pray with hearts of anger

Mat 5:23 If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,

Mat 5:24 leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

We are to pray and worship with a clean heart and a clean mind...looking to God with love and honesty

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

The problem among the men of the congregation was that they were trying to serve God but hating their brother and God's command was to love everyone. How could they teach effectively if they were always angry with everyone? No one wants to listen to someone they don't like. If you try to worship with anything other than love in your heart you are only fooling yourself because your worship is in vain. God tells us in His word that He will forgive us if we will forgive others. Who are we not to love and forgive others, when we have sinned against God time and time again and He has forgiven us every time asked for forgiveness? God does not listen to empty worship.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

The problem was that they were worshiping only in appearance. Thier hearts were distracted.

God recieves no honor and does't listen to this kind of worship. So really, when some atheists say that prayer doesn't

work, sometimes it doesn't. In Psalms it says, "if we regard iniquity in our hearts He doesn't here our prayers."

Praying with a wrong heart is a waste of time.

Q3. (1 Timothy 2:8). What problem among the men of the congregation is Paul referring to in this verse? What is so serious about worshipping with the opposite of love in your heart?

They had anger and strife in their hearts. They were not worshipping God with a true heart. If we are not worshipping God with love, our spiritual life will go nowhere. In fact, it would eventually die. Having anger, strife, and believing the wrong thing will lead to destruction.

The problem in this congregation was that the men were engaged in disputes generated by the false teachers.

You must have a pure heart when praying to the Father, if you are praying with the opposite in your heart the Father will not listen and your prayers will not be answered.

The problem then, as it is today, is that we have a tendency to judge one another. God asks this question, "How can you say you love me and yet hate my creation?"

Jesus was speaking on judging one another in Luke 6 when he said, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (NIV) So if we want to be judged for our actions let us be judged by showing love to one another.
