Yes, we still need the leading and encouragement of our brothers in Christ we should always have a spiritual friend that we can share with and learn with. We need teachers in the church to help nuture the new christians and the children whoul are just learning of Jesus's love for us. The Holy Spirit is there to lead us through our consience and to bring us into the knowledge of Christ by bring into our understanding of God's word and lead us in all truth. The body of Christ in the church is also made up of many parts performing its different functions according to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Each individual is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. (1 Corin 12:7) To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. (Eph. 4:7) In this, God has raised up teachers in the church so that knowledge of Christ's teachings can be taught to the people who hunger for it and also to pass on to the younger generation. The role of the Holy Spirit is to help us discern whether we are taught the true teachings of the church and also from God. The Holy Spirit will also prompt us to act accordingly to the will of God. The anointing is the empowering from God in the form of the Holy Spirit. It is like one being clothed in the right attire ready for action in the right occasion. Whereas the spiritual gift of teaching is only given to those whom the Holy Spirit feels suited for it. Not everyone has the same Spiritual gifts even though from the same Spirit. Spiritual gift of teaching is more like a lecturer imparting the knowledge onto the students as a guide and steps to live and grow to be a better Christian. We need teachers in the church, because we have not all been called to teach, and children need to be taught. Some people have a special calling to preach and some to teach. The Holy Spirit is calling all of us to do something, but not all of us will do the same thing. What I am taught of the Holy Spirit is taught to me for my encouragement-it may be different than what someone else needs. Teachers are to teach the word-preachers preach the word. The point is, not everyone can do these things. Only God knows who can. But, we are to study on our own, so that we may have discernment-know that the truth is being taught or preached. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through teachers, and teachers are, if they are not false teachers, inspired by the Holy Spirit and blessed with the gift of teaching. In us, as recipients of the teaching, the Holy Spirit is there, in this context, to help us discern the true teachers from the false How does the role of the anointing differ from the Holy Spirit's spiritual gift of teaching? The annointing is given to all Christians and gives each of us an internal guidance mechanism which we can use to determine the truth. The gift of teaching is a specific gift of the Holy Spirit given to some Christians to be used for the benefit and teaching of others. One of the first churches I attended after coming to the Lord was a very gifted church with men who were well studied in the Word and every week with the exception of a few messages that were continued for a couple weeks, different men spoke as the Spirit directed them. It was a delightful time and I loved hearing the different perspectives kind of like the four gospels. I learned alot from those men and I loved their love for the Lord. We need each other and the gift of teaching is no exception. They were equiped to build the members of the body up in their most Holy Faith. The annointing of the Holy Spirit which I received at my Christian birth is what put me there, caused me to relish the times of teaching and fellowship as we learned together and those who taught were able to share what they loved so much: The Word of God. God is indeed wonderful as He wants us all to be important and loved in His family. Whatever happened to love in the church. I think sometimes now there is a whole lot of knowledge of theology in the church and not enough "honoring others above yourself". May the Holy Spirit annoint some in His church to address this area of need through their teaching. God Bless you all and thank you for all I learn from you. You are wonderful!! "Where there is envy and selfish ambition lies strife and every evil thing. James 3:16. I wonder how much peace can exist in those hearts. Church seems to be a big social gathering with lots of talking even during breaking of bread. There is much of this in the church today. You don't need the false teachers. If the Holy Spirit teaches us, do we need human teachers? Is John telling us to reject teachers altogether and rely solely on the Spirit. No. However, we must not be arrogant in our ignorance. Among other gifts, God has placed in the church "teachers," whose job it is "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12). We receive from godly teachers and their essential ministry. But we must not rely on them to feed us or we starve. Rather, as we mature, we turn to the Holy Spirit to nurture and sustain us in Christ. The Lord promised to send a Helper to guide us into all truth (John 16.13). The Bible says that we have received an indwelling anointing from Christ, a presence of the Lord that teaches us concerning all things. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2.27 This passage of Scripture is not an argument against the ministry of teaching. There is a solid scriptural foundation for the teaching ministry. It was Christ Himself who gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Eph 4.11). True teaching ministry is driven by the same teaching anointing of the Holy Spirit. But only the Spirit is able to bring true revelation to the human heart. The apostle Paul writes about the spirit of wisdom and revelation which gives us knowledge of the Lord (Eph 1.17). We must come to Him to have life (John 5.40). There is an anointing available to every believer that teaches concerning all things. The Holy Spirit in our hearts is not speechless but He speaks and reveals the things of God. Our problem is that we have the tendency to disconnect His holy anointing and replace it with intellectual reasoning. The mind is an excellent instrument when it is subordinate to the Spirit. The analytical and creative capacity of the human brain is a great gift from the Lord. But the mind was never intended to be our ruler. We were created to be driven by our hearts in obedience to the Spirit of God. King Solomon wrote: Trust the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. When we surrender our lives to God and are reborn in the Spirit, we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is through the Spirit that we are led into all truth, we are guided and the word of God is revealed to us through the presence of the Holy spirit. Some of us are given the gift of teaching and and through this gift we build up our brethren in Christ. As we mature in our walk with the Lord,deeper and more complex truths are revealed to us. Remember that even although we do not all have the gift of teaching, we are all commanded to go into all the world and preach the good news. The anointing is given to each of us when we become children of God and that anointing equips us to minister as the Lord wills while He is working through each of us. There are times when we aren't aware what God is doing, but He is in fact working His will through us under the anointing of the Spirit. Jesus has given gifts to the church (Eph.) and teachers are one of those gifts, given out of His love and for our benefit. While we have the HS within to discern truth, we need the additional spiritual insights of gifted teachers. They are put in the body to aide in equipping the body for growth to maturity. At the same time, every believer should listen to the HS within themselves to bear witness or not to to the truth given by the teacher. I am a teacher and tell those I teach to listen to the HS within to witness to the truth I teach. It is the responsibility of every believer to do this. So, while we have the anointing that abides within us and we listen to and obey the HS within us, we also need teachers (with true teaching gifts!) in the body. Even teachers need teachers!!! They are there to guide us when we need it, when we seek it.They have been chosen by God to do His work but that does not mean we do not have to do our homework.We too must listen to the Holy Spirit and act according to His will. haar Posted October 28, 2009 Report Share Posted October 28, 2009 Although we have the Holy Spirit living in us, teaching and guiding us, we still need the teaching of someone who God has given them special abilities and knowledge by the power of the same Spirit of God. We should however not depend entirely on these teachers to avoid being starved spiritually. The Holy Spirit's presence in us is for our personal benefit as He teaches and guides us to all truth in the Word. He also helps us to identify false teaching. On the other hand, God's gift of teaching to some people is to help them to teach others. The gifts of the Holy spirit of God are for the buiding of the members of the house of God- the church. God place Godly teachers so that we can learn continues about the True words of God and not the lies of the devil. The role of the anointing is differ because it is a special gift that one receive for a particular area that God have for them to do for the growth of the Church. The Holy Spirit spiritual gift is within us so that we don't need anyone to teach us what is true. The Spirit teaches us all things that is the truth so that we will continue to live in Christ. We must not only rely on their teaching but study the word of God for ourselves. The Holy Spirit gives each Christian a least one spiritual gift(teaching). These gifts must be used to advance the Kingdom of God. Examples;(1)Equipping believers to share the good news — Matthew 10:19,20; Luke 4:18; 1 Corinthians 2:13. (2).Authenticating (proving) the gospel message — Hebrews 2:3,4. (3).Equipping believers to serve other believers — 1 Corinthians 12:7; 14:26 On the other hand, as we open our hearts to love and serve others God's anointing will flow through us. Although the Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead and guides us into the truth of Jesus' word, we still need teachers in the church to teach us the things pertaining to godliness, especially, but not limited to, babes in Christ. God Himself gave us teachers, as well as other offices, in the church to help us mature in our walk to become more like His Son. One cannot just rely soley on the Spirit and reject true teachers anointed by God to teach His word, because the Spirit teaches/guides us by putting us in rememberance of what Jesus said by what we may hear spoken by someone and read in God's word; He doesn't testify of Himself. The anointing of the Spirit brings to our rememberance what we know God, through Jesus, to have already said (and is saying), but the gift of teaching lets people hear what God has said/is saying through the teacher that is speaking it; both the anointing given to each individual believer and the gift of teaching work hand in hand in confirming one another because they have the same Source.
