Q3. Supporting Missionaries

Recommended Posts

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Christians support Christian workers in their ministries because we are called to get involved in spreading the gospel throughout the world -- the Great Commission. In directly supporting missionaries/ministries we become co-workers with those on the leading and cutting edge of evangelism. We show our love, support, and concern for missionaries and various ministries by supporting them with our resources, i.e. time, talent, money, etc. Christians should support Christian ministries because we are on the same team with the same desire that all people would hear the gospel and be saved.

Christian ministries are not very effective without support from the Christian community. The fact is God uses people for the ministry, both to go out and to support and to do both. God calls us to be cheerful givers. It is God's method of developing each of our characters in giving, being co-workers, and blessing others.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Christian workers work totally free and need help such as food and shelter. The whole issue here is not just givining someone a place to sleep for the night and food to eat; but to support the work of ministry and missions.

As Christians in general we must be aware of our calling to support the work of spreading the gospel everywhere in the world. Whatever our position, whatever our role, we all can have a part to play. No matter how small we will recieve a reward as fellow workers of Christ.

Without supports from believers Christian workers wouldnot be as effective. God has given each believer a gift; when used together it glorify the name of Jesus and the kingdom. One body severals gifts

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

1. Missionaries go forth delberately to serve Christ.

2. They go out in Jesus name.

3. They don't seek funds from non believers primaily but from believers.

4. Helping missinaries makes us coworkers.

We are serving Christ and loving our brethren.

They can be effective to a certain point depending on the mission. It is more encouraging to the missionary to know that the support and prayers of his family in Christ are behind him. Fellowship even if only a few is very important to prevent discouragement during trials. Also people look at the Christians who represent the Lord and wonder why there is so little love.

God Bless!

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

They are doing the work of the Lord;they go out in the name of Jesus;our way of serving Christ; our duty to provide for the messengers of the Most High God;we have an obligation to serve them because they are on a mission for Christ; we will be blessed for what we have done for them;also, we help further the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No matter how insignificant we think our helping is, we have a place with others who are serving in the vineyard.

Not supporting Christian worker retards the growth of the Gospel. They are going out into the vinyards, highways and byways, to be beacons on the hill for those who are searching for Christ.

We we support Christian workers we are also supporting Christ because Christian workers are are sent out to do the work that Christ have approve them to do. The true work of God. When we support a Christian worker we are entitle to a great reward also as we do to them we also do to Christ. Christian workers need our support if we are true Christian because they are not to take from unbelievers but only those that believe. We must always support our missionary that is going around spreading the Great news about Jesus. Only the true word and the true missionaries.

What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry?

It shows our obedience to God's Word. These people go our on fatih and want to take the gospel of Christ to others and we need to be obedient also to God and support them. We need to be gracious and giving.

What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers?

The reward is that we are partners with the ones who go to the mission field. If we are faithful in our giving and prayers we also serve as if there with them.

How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

It would be very difficult for the workers of Christ to go forward without the means of support from their churches and other believers. They would not really have the time to focus on the ministry of Christ because they would have to be in thought about theur daily needs.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

the main reason I feel we should help is because it is part of the mission-service we have here on earth as Christ's disciples

Support that is moral, and or financial is a way to encourage; to get further involved is something that the Holy Spirit will orchestrate when we all pray to hear what He wants us to do.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

1. The Bible tells us to support them. They are spredding the words and works of God, and need help with this. It is hard if not impossible for someone to work for a living and yet go to strange areas for missionary work. We have to offer them money and goods for their sustinance.

2.We are helping to spread the word. Some of us are workers, some teachers, some missionaries, each as God wants.

3. Not as effective as their time is spent earning money for food and shelter rather than spreading the word.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Answer:

1. What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry?

Therefore we ought to support such people, so that we become coworkers in cooperation with the truth.

2.How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

They are less affective as when somebody is helping them…just like Moses when He took all the jobs for the ministry..it just deplete him ..So his Father in Law told him to appoint helper…

Exodus 18:18- You will surely wear out, both you and these people who are with you, for this is too heavy a burden for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

Exodu s 18:21-But you choose from the people capable men, God-fearing, men of truth,45 those who hate bribes, and put them over the people as rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

The burden of the ministry is just too great for one person to carry…

The reasons are: they go forth to serve Christ, they go out in Jesus' name, they don't seek funds from non-believers, helping them makes us co-workers or fellow helpers. By being a co-worker our reward is becoming a partner as they teach the truth. The Christian workers cannot be very effective without the support of the church.

Reasons given for helping Christian ministries are to serve in their serving Christ and to support them in their service by contributing money, time, encouragement, and hospitality so they will not seek such support from non-believers. Assisting ministries affords us spiritual rewards and allows us to take our place beside those who supported the mission of the early church. Without support, it would be difficult for Christian workers to spread the true gospel of God.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry:

Missionaries go forth deliberately to serve Christ; missionaries go for the sake of and in the name of Jesus Christ; missionaries primarily seek funds from believers vice unbelievers; and helping missionaries makes us coworkers with them in their ministry.

In verse 7 a special reason is given why Gaius (and us), should be helpful to those itinerant evangelists/missionaries: "Because they went forth for His name's sake taking nothing from the Gentiles." These men looked to the Lord alone for the supply of their needs. They would not accept support from the unconverted. To do so would imply that their Master was too poor to provide for them. It might also give the unsaved a false ground of self-righteousness on which to rest. What a rebuke this is to the money-rising methods of television preachers and teachers today who take money from anyone. Most end up becoming all things to all people for money and popularity. They sell the gospel out for their own gain.

John reminds us of the special obligation we have toward those servants of the Lord who go out in faith in the living God and who make their needs known to no one but the Lord. When we pray to be of service to someone, that someone is praying for a service. So the whole process of supporting missionaries in whatever call is all anwsered prayer for both the giver and the receiver of the blessing.

In verse 8 John writes "We therefore ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth." To receive them means to do everything possible to help them, for when we do, we help the truth in its onward march.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry?

Christian workers are working for God and Jesus. As fellow Christians we have a God given command to support them. John considers those who support the ones who go out in to the world as co-workers.

8 "We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth."

What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers?

The reward is in the next life when God rewards faithful servants. Whatever we do for the missionaries we do for Jesus Himself, as He stated plainly in His own words. The welcome we get when we're admitted into God's presence will be beyond our understanding in this life.

How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Without funds to continue their work Christian workers will not be very effective. And it's not only monetary support that's necessary. We should pray earnestly to God for all Christian workers. We should also keep in contact with them and encourage them. I reckon it'd be a lonely life without letters from home, encouragement and the knowledge that the folks back home are thinking of you.

The reasons for supporting Christian workers in their ministry is so that they can teach the world of God and not have to be concerned about making a living. The reword that come with becoming a “co-worker” is that we will reap the same reward as the missionary. The Christian worker would have devoted part of their time trying to support themselves if they didn’t have the support of the church.

3a)Christians supportin missionaries is part of our discipleship. We are obliged to help as co-workers our fellow brothers&sisters in Christ,in prayer and practical resources of money, basic material needs, for housing, food, safety. They are then more equipped to focus on sharing the gospel with others, building up the body of Christ as bring others to know Christ for themselves

.b)Our reward as co-worker is to know that we are being obedient to scripture to love our fellow brothers in Christs&strangers responding to their needs.Have same reward as missionaries. We know that whatever we do for the least of them,we are serving the Lord too.Matthew 25:40

Supporting missionaries even though they are strangers.  Love.  I am a missionary and have traveled in Africa.  People we did not know who were hungry for the Word feed us and offered us shelter even though they had little themselves.  This is Jesus teaching.  Love as I have loved you.  This is showing the church's love. By assisting these workers you are a Matthew 25 Christian.  By helping them you have helped Jesus himself.  Without the help of other Christians our work would be very difficult.  No man is an island.......

We should support ministries because they do the work of spreading the gospel and witnessing for Christ so others might be saved. This is honorable work and by supporting them, we partner with them in spreading the truth, and we will be blessed as well. Without our support, this would not be possible.

What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry?

In essence, it gives us the opportunity to act as “co-workers” for the men/women in the field. I especially liked the example which used the separation of the sheep from the goats. It is one I call on often but have always related it more to the poor in our midst but this gave a whole new light to it.

What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers?

Whether in this life or the next, God always rewards us for doing good and how much more when we do good in support of His people?

How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Not as effective as those who are supported. I have seen it work both ways though because I know of a pastor, one who I have always looked up to, who in his early days of his work in an area where I lived held a job as there was not enough coming in through the congregation, which was also very small and the example he showed as a hard worker influenced people who would have otherwise just scoffed and laughed him off as another “religious fanatic” and while he was working he was actually doing mission work in the town.

We have a special obligation to these servants of the Lord. They go out in faith trusting our Lord to support them. We are to become fellow workers and give them all the assistance they need. Besides financial support we can uphold them with prayer and encourage them in our emails. Our Heavenly Father will pay back all good deeds – remember His generosity exceeds our imagination. This however, is not the reason we are there for our fellow workers; we do it because we love our Lord Jesus. Without our help these Christian workers cannot function to their full potential, the onus is therefore on us to provide the support they need.

Q3. (3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers? How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

We help Christian workers with finance, accommodation, donations, and prayer, and by doing this we are actively doing what they are doing and that is helping to spread the Gospel by giving this support. The rewards by doing this is not materialistic but spiritual, and we will get them here and in heaven. It is also rewarding to know you are helping to do what should be done as Jesus expects us to do and that is to spread the Gospel.

Missionaries will have it difficult and very challenging to do their work without fellow Christians supporting them, and will be far less effective in spreading the Good News.

Aren't we all missionaries, Christian workers or labourers for Christ? Don't we all deliberately serve Him, for the sake of His name? I don't like the idea that some are "mere support" while others are front-line fighters. I guess I don't like the dichotomy between Christian workers and the rest of us, as if secular work isn't a calling worthy of support.

Perhaps we should support each other no matter what our particular callings?

I do agree, however, that some of us are called to stop our secular careers and go out completely supported by other Christians. As I am not a missionary, I should be supporting missions (which I stopped doing, a while ago. My conscience is piqued.)

But I also think that an accountant, for example, can do his work admirably, and yet do it in a secondary manner, knowing his first work is evangelism, not making money as an accountant. If we keep our Christian duty to love Him and love others in the front of our consciousness, we'll relegate our careers to a secondary position. Then, we, too, will be Christian workers, not workers who happen to be Christian.

It's a matter of priority.

I don't think any of us are effective in whatever we do without prayer support, and such support is sadly lacking. We pray for missionaries, and in my new church, we even pray for the pastor the day before his sermon, but no one prays for the public school teachers, accountants or soldiers. I live near a military base. Countless soldiers come through this area, coming and going, sent then brought back. What a marvelous opportunity they have to witness on foreign soil! Are they not as worthy of prayer as traditional missionaries?

(3 John 5-8) What are the reasons given in these verses for supporting Christian workers in their ministry? What reward comes with becoming a "co-worker," by assisting Christian workers?

'Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' (Matthew 25:40).  When we comfort a brother in pain, help a brother in need, visit one who is sick or pray for a brother in trouble, we are “doing” for the “least of these brothers of mine.”  Jesus looks upon us as equal to the Christian workers do the preaching, healing, and leading of the church.  We are worthy of God’s grace and goodness, just as if we had been the one of higher status in the work of our Lord.

How effective can Christian workers be without those who support them?

Since most Christian workers lead a Spartan life, living under meager sources of income, getting hospitality of ALL kinds from church members is paramount to their success.  A meal, a place to stay, a donation of money; any type of sharing, goes a long way.
