Q2. Woman and Dragon

Recommended Posts

Q2. (12:1-17) The vision of the woman and the dragon are heavily symbolic, but comprehensible when you take care to understand. In your own words, what does this vision tell us about the cosmic battle in Jesus' day and in our own? What comfort should we disciples draw from this passage?

* 1. Satan has already been thoroughly trounced by Jesus and the holy angels.

* 2. Satan is still loose and deceiving the nations.

* 3. Satan hates and persecutes Israel and the Church.

* 4. Satan is presently being trounced by us as we preach the Gospel and extend Christ's Kingdom.

In my own udnerstanding, Jesus has already won the victory over satan 2000 years ago. This means that satan no longer has no authority over us. Halleluaiah! Glory to the Lamb who was slain for us:)

The woman is the church and we can be comforted in the fact that Jesus will win the battle.

If we are his then we will spend eternity with him in glory.

Clearly, so many immoral things are prevalent in our society today; we have the Microsoft syndrome that the stock market or money/$ is God for all who live today, followed by Sunday football with 'hot girlie commercials' No wonder the Muslim faith is the fastest growing religion in many parts of the world, including the USA.

Our comfort is that the devil was thrown down here, and can do what he wants, he will be crushed when Christ comes again. He and every evil spirit will bow to Christ along with us, and we wait for that day hoping it is TODAY. Who should suffer in these end times, would I have the courage to say, Lord let it be me, to gewt closer to your cross. May God do with me as He wishes towards the goal He has for His eternity. May he/I heighten my intensity of focus for what He has now give me and do it with all my strength and focus, in Jesus name. Amen

while these visions are symbolic, the evil in this world and attempts to drag us into it are always present. Our comfort and hope is that this is God's perfect plan, a test for us and a work we're expected to d - to witness and let God's light show through us to others, so they may know Him better through us.

We know He will come soon, in his time! Praise God!

I think that the woman represents Mary, the mother of Jesus. I think the simple comfort we should draw from this, as from the whole book of Revelation, is a simple message: "Jesus wins!"

The battle between good and evil has raged in Heaven and on Earth since Genesis and continues today. The comfort we may draw is that, in the end, Jesus will win.

If our true faith and trust is in Jesus Christ, He always makes provision for His people. The "battle belongs to the Lord." He will always take care of us. Even if we die for our faith, the reward is greater than our life here on the earth.

. The "woman" about to give birth appears to be the church or the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints. We are "about to give birth" in the sense that we are receiving eternal life through the sufferings and death of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. We receive this through faith, created in our heats by the Holy Spirit. The "dragon" comes and tries to deceive us and take away our salvation but the battle between our sinful flesh, Satan, and the world, on the one hand; and Christ, on the other; will result in a victory for Christ. The "birth" is also the literal birth of Christ, attacked by Satan from the beginning, when Herod tried killing Jesus by killing all the firstborn sons in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus' birth. He failed again as an angel came and warned Joseph and Mary of the danger. Later Satan tried attacking Him through the threefold temptation in the wildernes after Jesus 40 days of fasting at the beginning of His three year ministry. Once again Jesus was victorious using Scripture to fight off the attacks. In so doing, Jesus showed all Christians for all times how to avoid the enemy. From His entry into the world through birth, to his departure during Passion Week even to his final breaths on the cross, Jesus was under attack. Love conquered as Jesus only had words of love and pleas of forgiveness from the Heavenly Father even for those in the very act of putting Him to death and causing Him some of the worst suffering anyone has ever had to endure. In the end times, also, Jesus and His angels will be victorious and we all will do well to hold to our faith, thus clinging tight to eternal life through Christ. We have all the same victories Christ won, through our faith in Christ.

We see the church (the woman) in a massive battle against Satan (red dragon). I wonder if this could be a reference to the beginning of human history when God spoke to both the women and the serpent in Gen 3:14-16? There is a spiritual warfare on the go, the same that we all have faced since Adam and Eve fell into sin. It is Satan who controls the world for now. The women bears a child (Christ) who will eventually rule over all, and for eternity. We even have, after Jesus birth, a description of warfare in heaven, where Satan is

This vision confirms to me that our lives are about the ultimate choice of our free will; do you believe you need a savior or are you deceived into thinking you can stand without one? There is truly a battle for your soul that is fought every day. The only way to escape the snare of evil is to take refuge under the protection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Put your faith in the Faithful One, He will protect you and lead you on a path to righteousness.

Simply - whatever happens in our lives - whatever we have to suffer - it is already determined that we win because Christ wins. . .

Amswer:

There is no doubt that this woman is a representation of the True Church of God, for it is this woman that brings forth/gives birth to the man child, Jesus, and is persecuted after His ascension, verses 2, 4-6.

And the dragon is trying His best,to destroy the Church of God even today,by sowing lies and deception that there are many ways to enter the Kingdom of God,idolatry, etc.

In our own life, the dragon(devil)will just continue to condemn us,by telling us,how rotten we are,and that God will not move in our life, because of our sinfulness...However if we stand firm and Keep in the end,and make Jesus as our Saviour, and continue with HIS WORDS to be a disciple(John 8:31-32),then the evil will still try to deceived us,by telling us to do something, observe this and that, and EARNED our SALVATION.

We need to be always WATCHFUL for His OLD tricks and deception, for He will come any time to STEAL,KILL and DESTROY(John 10-10-The thief cometh not , but for to steal , and to kill , and G to destroy : am come that they might have life , and that they might have [it] more abundantly

The woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head, symbolize the church(us)given dominion and having royalty as God's children. We are pregnant with the promise of birthing Christ in others. By our witness and testimony, we can bring others into God's Kingdom by speaking the truth of salvation through Jesus. How wonderful when we see Christ born in others hearts! We labor to give birth to God's Kingdom!

But, just as in Revelation 12, where the dragon, that old serpent, satan waits to devour the child, Jesus, he waits even now, to devour any offspring of His. But God knows His own and we are protected through the blood of Jesus and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. No longer can satan accuse us! We overcome by the blood of the Lamb too! If we testify that Christ covers our sins, we can overcome all evil, sin and darkness.

Satan knows his time is short until he is destroyed. He knows he has no victory and he is looking around for people to devour. We though, have victory in Jesus and our desire should be to see many more added to the Kingdom of God and for satan to have no hold over their lives.

This is a spiritual battle that we have a part in. In prayer and in witness to others and in our own Godly living as examples of changed lives for others to be won and sealed in the spirit! It's not easy. We face challenges and difficult situations, but we stand on the truth and we know we win, so with patience and perseverance, we continue. To honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who gave everything so WE could be saved.

The vision of the woman and the dragon are heavily symbolic, but comprehensible when you take care to understand because it is still going on today, that great war good against evil and will continue until Christ comes back for His Church. We must always be watchful and pray so we won't be taken in by the enemy. The great thing out of all this is that if we hold tight to our faith and belief in our Savior Christ Jesus, we will have no doubt where we are going when we comes back. Even if we are in our graves, we know where we are going when that great day comes because the only voice we can hear in our graves is Christ. And for me that is a big comfort!

I believe the woman stands for the ideal community of the chosen of God.  Christ came from this community.  He suffered at the hands of this world for us. So, I feel that Christ was born into this world and many did not believe.  After the resurrection the church suffered labor or growing pains.  We still do.  There are evil forces still bent on destruction of the church.  But, the community of God is under His protection and always will be if we believe, ad ultimately cannot be destroyed.

The vision of the woman and the dragon are symbolic of the long going battle between Satan (and his forces) and God (and Israel and the Church), over the ages.  However it comes to an end when Jesus returns.

The comfort we disciples should draw with this passage is that God comforts, protects, and takes care of His own.  God wins and Satan is defeated and evil is overcome by light.  The good guys win.

There have always been a battle between good and evilHowever, this is being deemed as the ultimate battle. Our faith is going to be tested to the max. We are going to have to face death for our beliefs. Satan is going to deo all that he can to destroy the whole church on earth. No one is going to be safe on this planet.

God is going to protect His children with eternal life. We will get our reward when it is all over. We will reign with Him in heaven.

We need to understand this is God's timetable and this is why these things are happening, which helps us know God is in control. We need to recognise that it is a spiritual battle against supernatural powers , but these are supernatural powers with us. We as the church have power to enforce God's Kingdom rule., we have a key purpose in this time of history.
