We know that we are strong in You because it is Your might that is our strength. Today, it is our prayer before we go out into this world, before we even place our feet upon the ground here beside our beds, that we remember that we are in a battle against the powers that be against Your will for our life and the lives of those we love. We are not ignorant of the powers of our enemy because You Father have made us wise in Your word and have told us truth. Our fight today is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. You Father are above all of these powers and they bow down to You. Therefore, We take on Your complete armor to fight the enemy that is very real and not a fantasy. Their goal is to defeat Your church body to try to sway us into sin. We stand bold before the enemy because we are assured of Your victory won at the cross. You told us that all the powers of hell will not conquer Your church. The Holy Spirit living inside of us is our witness to the powers that oppose Your will. We have girt our loins with the truth of Your written and spoken word. We place upon us, the breast plate of righteousness as we seek Your righteousness and Your Kingdom, daily. We place upon our feet the preparedness that today, we will share the gospel of peace, where ever You direct and ordain our steps. Above all, We take now, the shield of faith that You have grown in us by the reading of Your Word, so that we are able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. We take upon our head the helmet of salvation and the remembrance in our mind that we are saved in You for Your Kingdom. We have been set aside for a holy work for our King and Savior. In our hearts, we have kept Your word hidden for a time such as this and keep our weapon of defense very sharp. Your spirit of truth has taught us Your Word and revealed truth to us. It is this Word, which we stand firmly on. You are our Rock! We thank You Father that You have equipped us well to stand boldly against the enemy today and every day as long as we have breath. As You go before us to prepare a table in the presence of our enemy, we will not fear because You are with us. We will sit at the table and sup with You and meditate on Your Word in the face of the enemy and we will sing and shout our praises to You who have saved us and covered us with Your blood. We have hope of Your Glory as You live in us and we do not need to defend You because You are our God, all by Yourself. We defend truth. We defend Your Word. We rest in Your peace, knowing all along that our enemies are defeated, even though satan tries to bully us and lie to us to try to make us believe otherwise. Truth is in Your Word and Your Word is a seed with in our hearts. We do not isolate our self from the enemy, We go boldly into the battle today because we are a warrior for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. We will share Your seed of truth. Why do we tend to feel powerless in the face of spiritual enemies? What was Paul assuring the Ephesians of? What does this encourage us to do? I am unsure of my authority and how to use it. Probably so that we realize that Christ has already won, and we know how the story ultimately ends; we need only continue fighting the battle for the lost until He comes back to get us. Because the enemy is so good at deceiving us, and because we are just not up to the fight, sadly. Paul was assuring the ephesians that Christ has won the victory, and we are more than conquerors too through Him who has overcome death! This should encourage me to deeply seek courage from the only one who can give it to me, pray for opportunitys to practice this courage I am receiving by faith, and get out on the battle field like David, and run to my enemy, sure of the victory I have already attained through my faith in the TRUE AND LIVING GOD. Spiritual warfare is a central purpose and activity in our lives, both on a personal and community level. The devil is real and he is powerful. He has infected many aspects of modern life which are not only unbiblical but often actively hostile towards Christians and their adherence to the Word of God. In fact the devil has been on the up and up in modern times judging by the erosion of moral values all around us and the advance of secular materialism. It is easy for the Christian to feel overwhelmed by evil and on the defensive. It is important in these circumstances to be reminded forcibly that we are on the winning side as a matter of certainty. The outcome of the war was determined by Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day. Jesus is the victor and His status over everything is assured. Knowing that we are on the winning side should encourage us to engage more effectively in spiritual warfare and to confront vigorously the devil and his demons as they attempt to prosecute their rear-guard action in the world. We must take as much ground away from them as we can. Paul encourages us by telling us what power we have on our side and that victory has already been achieved. A4.1 We take a pass because we feel inadequate, powerless and weak. A4.2 Because Christ should be our model. In Him, we saw that God works good for those who obey and follow Him. And Christ followed His father's will. To get what Christ got while He was battling with the evil forces of earth, we should just follow Christ and have faith in our God. Q4.3 Because probably, we slackened in our faith in God. And because we do, we are no longer sharp recipients of the grace and spirit He always try to bestow to people who believe in Him. Q4.4 Paul assured the Ephesians of the strength and power that comes from God, of the headship of Christ, whose ways and teachings we are supposed to follow, if we are to get this strength and power. We become cowards to fight against an enemy we can't see. Paul wants us to see that the battle has already been won. And that with Christ as the head of the church we can fight against anything that comes at us. Fear,ignorance and the inability to see that we are to be the machines for Christ. Paul warned us about this because of the deviousness of Satan and urges us to be on guard. Human beings tend to feel powerless in the face of spiritual enemies because they fail to understand God's great strength and lose focus and make worldly things a priority. Paul is assuring the Ephesians to use the power of the Holy Spirit and allow Gos to be charge. This should encourage us to stand tall as a warrior of God and be faithful. Powerless feeling because a lack of faith assuring them that if they practice Bible principles they will have hope and that they are not alone. It is important for believers to know that they too have been given authority over every firey dart that the devil can throw our way. In the face of spiritual enemies we tend to feel powerless when we fail to keep ourselves nourished on the word of God and when we fail to keep in communion with our Heavenly Father. What was Paul assuring the Ephesians of? Paul assured the Ephesians that in the face of persecution they can stand firm and be victorious, because they have the power to fight the enemy. What does this encourage us to do? In light of all this, we should always remember the power we have working on our behalf, power over Satan and sin. It is important to know the authority we have been given through Christ Jesus. The Lord fought the enemy through the word. When the war rages, it can be overwhelming and often a person going through the war can forget how to fight the war. It is so important to be encouraged when we go through a spiritual battle, for in doing so, in a weak state we can be lifted up by one who is strong and can bring us back to the power of the word. I believe it is the lack of faith we have in God, and because of fear, also we do not have enough knowledge or teaching on spiritual warfare. Jesus is the victor over all things and He left this power to us as well. When we are in Christ we walk in victory as well. We feel powerless is because we are trying to do all in our own strength and not relying on Jesus strength. Paul was encouraging the Ephesians by letting them see how much power Jesus has and that they can have the same power as well. This encourage me to walk in more faith, to use the tools that Jesus left me (spiritual armor), and to remember Jesus promise to me in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." It is a past, present and future victory. It is victory over all things now and forever. Fear and lack of understanding that Christ victory resides in us through the empowering of the Holy Spirit. I have talked to many Christians, and many do feel overwhelmed by the world. I know that in this world it is a constant battle with the forces of darkness. Many Christians fail to realize this, that in eveything we do, we are constantly doing battle with darkness. We may not fully understand it, but we are. Especialy, when we just become a Christian, the devil is hard a work trying to disrupt our relationship with God. Anything he can do, to make us depend on something else other that God, he will do it. But as Christian, we do have the power to overcome. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead, has been made available to us, this is difficult to comprehend and understand, but it has been promised to us. Paul's mention is to assure us that Christ is the head, He is in control. I feel powerless in the face of spiritual enemies because I can't see them. I can't look in their eyes. It's like fighting the wind. But Paul is assuring us all that the battle has already been won. This encourages us to continue to run the race. To often we think we are to weak or even worse it is not our bussiness. That is the reason why Paul mentioned it to us, because when we know "who is the boss" we immediately know that it is our bussiness to take part in warfare for Christ's way of life.when we are not aware of the power which is in us we can feel powerlessPaul was assuring Ephesians and assures us today also that all things which seems dangerous and powerfull to us and scare us in our battles are nothing in comparison to Christ because God puts all under His feet. We simply lack faith and do not know the power that we have as children of. Again it might be probably because we have not put on the FULL ARMOR OF GOD (Eph. 6:10-18) Christ's exaltation and victory is for us. He won back our RIGHT which we lost in the Garden of Eden. As indicated above, we lack faith and our stand in the Lord might be shaky Paul was assuring us of the limitless power available to us in Christ Jesus and desires the saints will walk as such. We should not be afraid of the devil or his demons for Christ made a public spectacle of them when he died and rose triumphantly again. Paul said in Romans that the same power which raise Christ from the dead is working in us. Are you a believer? WALK IN THE POWER OF THE LORD AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR. What does this encourage us to do? noone i know likes pressure and when you mix up the kids crying,the phone ringing,the spouse nagging, everything and everyone pulling on you, stretching you as far as you think you can go,you look to god finally and he takes you a bit further.but it's when we don't pay attention to what we tried to understand.maybe we read some passage and thought we had it down, then the lord comes in a couple of days and he brings us though the very passage with a whole deeper meaning.god doesn't want us to be so shallow as to think we know it all.and paul, being in prison for his belief and not wrong doing,must of been passing this wisdom on to the ephesians. in a sense paul was warning them this might happen to you as well,but its alright,god is with you, as he is with me. Beadie Posted August 31, 2007 Report Share Posted August 31, 2007 I can think of several reasons for why we might take a pass when it comes to spiritual warfare. 1) Fear - we think we are not able to defeat the foe. We are seeing the problem, not the Lord. We forget Jesus has already won the fight. We don't need to rely on our own strength. 2) Doubt - we lose faith that He is with us. We think we might have to fight with our own obviously inadequate power. Once we lose faith, we lose our ability to draw on His strength. 3) Lack of Discernment - we just don't see it - we are blind to the attack - we are fooled by the devil's camoflage. 4) Complacency - this is not our problem. It is too far away, it needs to be fought by those it is affecting. It does not affect me (YET) Christ's victory demonstrates His power. We are fighting a battle He has already won in the spiritual realm. We are only fighting it on the earthly realm - nothing earthly can last. We are his body, the arms of war as it were, to fight the fight here. But we need to remember who it is that we are part of. He is the head and we are attached to it as the vines are to the stalk. We too often feel powerless because we are so busy looking at the problem and its size that we miss seeing the Lord. Doubt leads to this feeling of being powerless. We rely on our own strength forgetting we are part of a much larger body with a much more powerful head. We need to be reminded of His strength and power and that faith is all we require to plug in. Because we have a wrong understanding of spiritual warfare and are not aware that we are hidden in Christ and that He gave us power and authority. Paul wants to encourage the believers to live a life of victory. We often feel powerless because we focus on our failures and not on the power that Christ has given us. Paul was assuring the Ephesians that He has everything under His control and that encourages us to live a confident life as christians and to break the lies of the enemies and take back our ground. Paul wanted us to be aware regardless of how we might pretend that it is not real, those spiritual powers of darkness and dimensions is real. It is so easy to feel powerless over something you can't see and touch. But Paul was assuring the Ephesians as well as us that through Christ we have the strength to fight these powers.
