Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

If we are lead by the Holy Spirit, then we will produce the kind of fruit that testifies to that. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, etc. If we are embracing strict morality, some of these things will be evident for a time, but will be in evidence only in part because we are not lead by The Spirit. Therefore, God will not get the glory.

Godliness is inwardly & outwardly seeking to love God and to please Him in all we do.

Only the Holy Spirit can produce godliness in a person.

A strict morality is yet another vehicle for doing it our way, for our success. One way or another that person will fail. Seeking to NOT do something as opposed to living to please and love God.

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

It is being filled with the Spirit of God, being able to live as Christ lived filled with the Love of God for all men no just self. It is produced as we listen and live by that still small voice from the Spirit as we live our lives growing those fruits of the Spirit spoken of in the lesson by Pastor. Godliness is differant in that it comes from a pure heart it can't be self seeking because it come by the Spirit of God and only seeks good toward other not gratitude for doing what is right.

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

i say godliness is having an abundance of God in your life and acting accordingly. Godliness is produced by knowing the word of God and following his commands. morality is restrictive self-imposed and boring. it is what man looks upon compared to what God sees you as.

Godliness is doing only the things we know will please God because we love Him and want to please Him.

The Holy Spirit working inside a person produces godliness in him/her.

Embracing a strict morality brings a 'strived for' outward standard, but godliness is brought about by inwardly seeking God in Love.

God bless

Godliness is exibiting all of the fruits of the Spirit in our character which can only be developed by walking in the Holy Spirit and feeding ourselves with the word.

Strict morality is an appplication of the flesh while godliness is of the Spirit.

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

I would define godliness as behavior that is pleasing to our God.

Godliness is produced by the promptings of the Holy Spirit to a standard of living that is different from the worldly living that we were in and saved from through the penalty paid by our Lord for our sins. We need to read the Word and spend time with the Lord in prayer. I also think godly Christians to observe are valuable for others who have not had good examples. Are we being that for others?

Godliness is out of love and a desire to please our Lord whereas strict moralitly is a set of man made laws (they may be good) for man's applause.

As always I have a lot of work to do in all areas of my life.

God Bless!

godliness is sharing and having the very nature of god - FAITH, HOPE & LOVE, LOVE BEING THE GREATEST BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE ("for god so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." - john 3:16).

strict morality, on the other hand, is an outward appearance of godliness that denies the power of it. it is also a form of spiritual pride; holier than thou attitude that does not build godly character.

3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

Godliness in a person is an ongoing process of growing in the way of our Lord. The fruits of the Spirit grow as one nurtures them and will be evident in ones life. The most obvious way to grow in the Lord is through the reading and studying of his word, accompanied by praise and worship.

Embracing morality leads to self righteousness and destruction

Godliness is living a life where everything you say and do should honor and glorify God. Practicing a life style where you try to please God, asking for forgiveness and being led by the Holy Spitit produces godliness.

A strict morality is being disciplined to do something. In your mind, you rationalize what you believe and it results in outward actions. Godliness is living out what is in your heart, and following through becuase you love God.

Godliness comes from seeking to please God, from submitting as a

to his occasional rebuke.

an outward obedience or legalism, but an inward seeking of God in

love.

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

What a fabulous teaching lies behind today's set of questions! Thank you Pastor Ralph. Today you have exceeded all previous utter brilliance in teaching. I just loved it!

I think godliness is the quality of father Abraham, who set himself apart from all his culture, and even his family, in order to live in truth and reality. He was the one man on earth with whom God could set up dialogue!. He is the spiritual father of all those who follow the same path. And it is true that one who seeks truth will have to set himself quite apart from current culture, and friendships in order to establish that pure relationship with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. As Abraham left his home (comfort zone?) to follow the Spirit of God, so we need to put aside all else for Jesus our Redeemer.

What produces godliness? It has to be single-minded purpose. Nothing else will do. One's whole will must be saturated in God's purpose. One's whole heart, mind, soul and strength are devoted to the glory of God, and then His train will indeed fill the temple which is the body of that man, that living brick in the temple of the Most High.

Embracing a morality is just that, living to a set of rules. There is no affection, no passion, no relationship, no love, just a morbid self-satisfaction with one's efforts. Godliness is all about relationship, passion, love, joy, hope, truth, vision, communication, sensitivity, embracing no compromise with love and service to the other as to God. It is alive, where morality is unresponsive, probably critical, self-righteousness and stony.

The outworking of the person of Jesus Christ's character through a life yielded to His Lordship (His wisdom, and the fruit of the Spirit...Gal. 5)

A life which is yielded to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and which allows the Holy Spirit to have control of our bodies, minds and spirits.

Embracing strict morality is outward adherance to a religious system. Godliness is the outward expression of the person of Jesus Christ living on the inside of an individual.

How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

Godliness denotes character and conduct which is determined by the love and fear of God in our hearts. As a Christian we have the qualities of inner piety - the characteristics of a spiritually mature person. Our Spirituality is an absolute quality, depending on our walk with the Lord, and particularly on maintaining our fellowship with the Lord through confession. But none of this is visible. So - how can we tell when true spirituality and maturity are present? Or, how do we know the difference between a godly person and one who is merely well educated and in control of himself? A carnal believer, the novice Christian, can be moral, can use the right vocabulary, can wear a suit and carry a Bible. He can fool some of the people some of the time. But the godly believer is known by

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

Godliness is the willful commitment to follow Jesus' example. One doesn't exercise and perform to show the world their outward righteousness but conducts themselves inwardly in way pleasing to God.

Godliness is knowing who God is and to whom we belong. We should live our lives according to the the gifts we have been given. God wants us to have no other God before Him and to love our neighbors as our selves.

Godliness is different because it is based on a lifestyle change as worship and praise to God. Godliness is focusing on and beliving on the prmises of God. On the other hand, embracing a strict morality is no evidence of a change in body and spirit. It is more legalistic oriented than a lifestyle change created by one's belief in the Word and the promises of God.

Strict morality is a "form of godliness," a kind of outward religion and religious belief, but one which lacks its real essence and power (2 Timothy 3:5). It is done in the flesh,

Anything that is not directed toward God. I look at anyone who puts worldly trusts over God such as reading horoscopes, witchcraft, new age. I believe it is making one's self as God and in control, and saying as long as it does not hurt anyone.

Oops sorry about that. Try again. Godliness is putting god first, living our lives the way God wants us to live not the world. We produce godliness in our lives when we read and study the word, meet with fellow believers. Help others. Show Jesus to those who don't know him. Godliness is that relationship with the Lord, instead of just going through the ritual.

Q3. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) How would you define "godliness"? What produces godliness in a person? How is godliness different from embracing a strict morality?

Godliness is living a God oriented lifestyle driven from the word of God that transforms by the renewing of the mind. Hence produces a above reproach lifestyle, produces character, leadership, mentorship, sincerity, self control, respect, hospitable, not given to drunkeness etc.

Loving God with all the heart, soul and spitit produces godliness, this is brought about by pleasing God while morality is brought about by self righteousness.
