Q2. Darkness and Light

Recommended Posts

When we live and move about in darkness, we are speaking falsely and do not live and practice the truth.

We must confess and tell God we are Sorry, and really mean it. God will forgive us, and he will welcome us back to himself joyfully with out-stretched arms. We will then be able to walk in the light. And be in fellowship with one another. If we do not ask God to forgive us, then we will continue to walk in the Darkness.

The result when a christian walks in darkness is broken fellowship....we can not remain in the same relationship if we are staying in sin and then continue to deceive oursleves. If we walk in the light Jesus is faithful and just to forgive our sins, to cleanse us, but we need to confess and go forward. We can not lie to ourselves and others and say we have not sinned. If this were the case then Jesus died for no reason and we know this is not the case.

We get back into the light by admitting....confessing our sin, turn them over for forgiveness. We have to be willing to humble ourselves and keep in prayer.

Q2. (1 John 1:5-7) What is the result when a Christian walks in darkness, that is, continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong? How does this involve self-deception? What is the result, according to verse 7, when we walk in the light? How do we get back into the light if we sin?

When we continue to willfully to do what we know is wrong, we are living in sin, walking in sin. We cannot have fellowship with God. It involves self-deception because we are lying to ourselves and to everybody else. When we walk in the light, we are to live free from bondage to sin, to make true communion between believers possible. Jesus' violent death on the cross, which is what blood signifies, is the initial antidote for and ultimate defense against sin's presence and power. We are to believe the truth of God as revealed in HIs Word and to make a sincere and sustained effort by His grace to follow it in word and deed. To get back, the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. which is the ongoing work of sanctification within the believer and the continual cleansing through the blood of Christ for our inadvertant sins. This continual cleansing allows us to have intimate fellowship with God.

Q2. (1 John 1:5-7) What is the result when a Christian walks in darkness, that is, continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong? How does this involve self-deception? What is the result, according to verse 7, when we walk in the light? How do we get back into the light if we sin?

Christian walks in darkness is losing the accountability to be a child of God, insisting to walk in darkness that is like a spying on the light to the account of darkness , wolfs with robs of lambs , total deception. When we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ purifies us from all sin. We get back into the light by confessing our sins and repenting of them.

When A Christian walks in darkness will be judged more harshly bec ause they know better. ( 2 Peter 1. 5-7)5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

We are fooling ourselves if we think we are fooling anyone else. We are just looking at the carnal. The result is that we are not covered by the blood of Jesus. Repent, acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and ask for forgiveness.

When we do/plan and execute something that is wrong, inside us it has an impact if we have any character at all in Christ. If we fall in sin at the moment of experiencing some things we didn't expect, is it because we have not yet ingested deeply enough the word of God?

We deny some real power of the Holy Spirit when we are less than 100% focused on God's commands. Losing the Kingdom of Heaven for moments or for days... what do we want in life? Do we want an after life? Do we want our father to say well done a few times before we die? Or do we want him to say, "Ok you made it even here at the end, I love you just like to prodigal son?

What ever we want in our hearts is what we will get. So may we stay in the light as much as we can, with a focus on wanting to be more and more like Christ.

If we a true believer and we are sinning willfully then we are hurting our relationship with God. We are lieing to ourself and we have blinded ourself in thinking that we can live for christ and sin and teh same time. If we willfully contiul to sin then we must reexamin our commitment to Christ, and we do not truthfully realize that He is returning and will judge us for our deeds. If we walk in the light as he is teh light we can have fellowship with Him and our brothers in christ.

If we confess our sin, turn from the sine that we are in, hate it, and ask God to frogive us or our sin he is fathfull to forgive us from our sin.

True Christians I don't think can truly walk in darkness. They know that they are doing wrong and have not accepted yet the tru meaning of who Christ is and who God is completely. They are still trying to "find" their way and want to do as they might without regard for "truth or light". We all sin every day, we can't help it. We are only human. But when we sin and acknowledge it and repent and are truly sorry we are forgiven and are in the light once more. Also we acknowledge that Christ is Lord and GOd is the Father of all humanity and we walk in His light and the light of Christ.

The question should be: What is the result when a person, (not a Christian), walks in darkness..." - (or continually lives in the lifestyle of sin)...

because those who continually live a lifestyle of sin do not know the true God - until they recognize their sinful life, confess, and honestly ask for forgiveness, and begin to follow Jesus (walk in the light), they are not true Christians at all. These are the exact people John is speaking against in this letter.

1 John 2:3 states, "We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Those who say, 'I know him,' but do not do what he commands are liars, and the truth is not in them."

These hypocrites are lying to themselves and others, and consequently hurting other people immensely as on-lookers conclude Christians are hypocrites or worse - there is no God, or God is evil.

John is not condemning those who slip up every once in a while, as we all unfortunately do, but those with the lifestyle of sin. But what draws the line? We need to continually ask for forgiveness and turn from our sins and not sneak back. Every time. Lay it down at his feet at the cross. Every time.

1. You are not a true beiever, you can't willfully sin and believe Jesus died and arose for us.

2. You begin to make excuses, rationalize your sins, put the blame on others...."everyboy does that"

3. We see ourselves as others do, as a sinner. We know that we need Jesus, the light, to show us how to relate to each other

4. When we recognize our sinfulness, repent honestly and pray for forgiveness, we acknowledge that Jesus has died for our sins, enabling us to return to His light. :)

IF WE WALK IN DARKNESS WE HAVE NO FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM.Of course not, there is no darkness in him therefor if we walk in darkness he is not there. If we think we have fellowship with him when we walk in darkness we are decieved and the truth is not in us because truth is light.

The result of walking in the light is fellowship with christ and with all believers. If then we sin, we have the blood of jesus to cleanse us from that sin.

When we fall to sin and then accept that as inevitable so somehow acceptable, we are omitting God from our lives: His teachings, the daily help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the strangth He provides, etc. We must be on guard, our American culture brainwashes that we are to do what we want to feel good, look good, endulge self, #1 above all (self). Why deny self? Why make the effort to live on a higher plane with a highter standard? (this is the world's thinking) When we do fall, quickly admit and confess so your relationship with Christ can be restored and strengthened.

It has been my experience that it's quite difficult to walk in the darkness after Jesus transforms us. Sins that I thought I'd never have the power to stop doing have stopped because the Holy Spirit works within me now. I notice how I catch myself when I sin knowingly, and I feel even worse than ever. I am not sin free, but I am way more aware of my sinful nature and more eager to confess and repent of my ways now. You deceive yourself if you think you can continue to sin and live in darkness and have the Holy Spirit working within. 1 John 5 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. If we confess our sins, we are cleansed and again able to walk in the light.

When Christians walk in darkness, continuing to do wrong they are living a deceitful life. Not being open and honest about the sin in their lives, denying the reality of sin and claiming to belong to God is what the bible calls hypocrisy. When we walk in the light, sin is exposed and the blood of Jesus cleanses us. When we confess and repent of our sin, it helps to get us back into the light and right relationship with God.

A professing Christian who continually, willfully, and knowingly walks in darkness is no Christian at all. John would call that personal a liar.

That kind of Christian has refused to love the truth - the Word of God -- and walks in darkness.

Any person acting as their own God can justify any behavior they want to engage in.

When we walk in the light as Jesus is in the light we have fellowship with other Christians and Jesus the Christ. The blood of Christ cleanses and purifies the born again believer/spirit-filled from all sin. When a person walkes in the light God's standards and ways are important to that person.

John tells in verse 9 that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (NIV). Thus allowing us to walk in the light one again.

The book of 1 John is written to Christians .We all sin even as Christians, but if we are willfully living in a state of sin or walking in darkness , then we are out of fellowship with God . There is the act of committing a  sin  and there is  the state of living in sin or living any old way we feel like outside of the will of God ( living your own way is called rebellion). Living a lifestyle of sin will bring consequences . If we are out of fellowship with God we miss out on his blessings and benefits . Many do not understand the Grace of God , thinking that God will just look the other way because God is Love(This is how we decieve ourselves by thinking this way but Jesus said ""If you love me ,OBEY my commandments .-John 14:15)  . Wrong. We will be disciplined and or punished . If we learn from our discipline , then we can grow and mature in  Christ .If we continue to live our own way and not God's way then we will pay  the consequences.  If we as Christians commit sin ,then we must ask forgiveness and repent . When we confess our sin and ask forgiveness and repent then God will forgive and cleanse and restore us to fellowship with him . You can not live with one foot in darkness and one foot in the light . 2 Corinthians 6:14 asks "" What fellowship can light have with darkness? ''  ABSOLUTELY NONE

2a) He or she is led away by deceiver into worldly actions with false happiness drink, sex, buying spree’s all seeking joy where there is no true lasting joy.We face eternal seperation from Godin hell.
b)Any distortion from the truth in darkness,is a lie,self-deception.
c)When we walk in the light we are in fellowship with Christ, following Jesus withour heart mind &soul, letting our actions &thoughts be moulded &shaped by him.
d)If we sin but then recognise the futility of our actions and repent, turning away from past ways completely, our loving Father in His mercy forgives us, cleanses us through blood of Jesus, restoring us,changing our mind &actions as we become new creations of light again.

The result when a Christian walks in darkness and willfully does what they know to be wrong they are separated from God. We like to think that we are with God when we sin but that is a self-deception. The result of walking in the light is that we will have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus will cleans us from all sin.

The way we get back into the light is to confess our sins and to repent.

When a Christian walks in darkness or willfully does what they know to be wrong they are surely sinning.  To walk in darkness is to sin, or be without the light of our Lord.  When we do this and know it we are deceiving only ourselves.  If we walk in the light we have the fellowship with our believers and Jesus' blood to cleanse us.  To return to the light is to repent and turn from the dark and walk in the light with other Christians.
