The sins talked about are (1) ****( looking at pornoghraphy and know they did it all), and self boasting (3) Pride of life I created ......

Sometimes we are enticed to be like Tom through sudle ways until we realize and repent. Worldliness is not Godlyness.

Sins of worldiness include pride, sins of the eyes and sins of the flesh. Sometimes we become insensitive to these sins because they are so common in our world. Worldiness is so harmful to our future because the more worldly we become, the less we glorify God and give Him thanks for everything we have.wink.gif

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives?

Worldliness is coveting things that belong to others, or that we want for impure reasons.

Craving physical relationship outside of marriage, sexually explicit television, books, or magazines which feed the impure desires of the flesh.

Things accomplished in the flesh which glorify Myself, rather than giving glory to God for empowering and gifting me to accomplish those things.

To use, misuse or do things contrary to the will of God.

Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves?

Because many of these things in balance are not usually harmful or sinful, but when craved and lusted after and become our focus, they result in sin. For instance food is necessary to survive, but gluttony is sinful. Clothing is necessary, but shopping to excess for emotional reasons is greed. When pleasure is our main focus, we are hedonists. Physical intimacy was created for pleasure and procreation, but out of the context of marriage it is fornication or adultery. Jesus said "I came that you might have life and that more abundantly", so we are to enjoy life but to use what He gives us within the guidelines of scripture, and to feed on, and find our life in Him.

.

Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

Our home is in Heaven for eternity, and to focus unduly on the things of the world, stunts our spiritual growth, and draws us away from following the Lord. We are to be storing up treasures in Heaven, not those things which are temporary and benefit no one but ourselves. We are to be content...not always craving more and more and more, because the flesh is never satisfied.

They are 1) **** of the flesh 2)**** of the eyes 3) and the pride of life. We were born into sin and unless we go to Christ each day it would be easy to over look these sins. They would just become part of us.If they were to become a way of life then that would be because we closed Christ out. Worldliness is harmful as it becomes a way of living of wanting more, living for oneself which in turn is less and less of God. You can`t serve two and our God is a jealous God. If you are living with those three particular sins you are definently walking with satan. That would make the world a place of havic, bringing no right or wrong to our children or grandchildren. There is still Christianity in the world today but it is slipping. The Lords prayer has been taken out of the school system, teachings of Christ are gone out of the schools, and in place other religions and cults and science have been put in place of them. Worldliness is very harmful to the future! B)

Our "Selfish desire". It is difficult to discern because we focus too much

to ourselves. These are the work of the flesh which is not of God. Gal. 5:19-21,

it is not only harmful to our future but will cause of our salvation.

I guess you're from the United States CRiv.It was hard for me to believe that a so-called Christian country, could do away with prayer in schools, especially when no other religious groups could really object in a 'christian' country.. Now to hear it from the horse's mouth , as it were, is really very distressing. It's such spiritual blindness and an even more perverted form of worldliness than some other forms... though I guess there can be no degrees of sin. sin in Sin.

The three examples of worldly sin given are:

The cravings of sinful man.

The **** of the eyes.

Boasting of what man has and what he does.

The first is in satisfying what man craves as opposed to doing without. Sacrificing. Being least or last. Giving up harmful things in our lives. Addictions etc.

The second is satisfying sinful nature at what we desire through our eyes. Coveting possesions or ******* of the flesh.

The third is vain glory in man and what man accomplishes. Not serving quietly or even in Godly intentions.

These are hard to discern in self, because we literally live in this arena every day. But, we are to be in it, not of it. Some of us are learning discernment because we never knew differently than what we have always lived. In the world. But now, God shows us a different way and that can take some time to sort through. Even when we try to "do good" we may end up with something self gratifying, but God has let us know, that if we seek with all our hearts He is faithful to show us Himself and the way to follow. He knows our hearts and help us understand where we are deceived if we truly desire see that in ourselves. The meek He will teach His ways.

Wordliness is harmful to our future because it literally blinds us to seeking God. We become self satisfied or buy into pleasure or our own accomplishments and those are not lasting things. That's why society is always looking for the next best everything! Nothing satisfies....until you find the One who does and through a journey find how to let go of the others one by one and find everything in Him!

Not that anyone has attained all that, but we keep going until our days are ended and we can hear "Well done good and faithful servant." There are promises for the ones who overcome!

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17)

What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives?

Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves?

Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

Worldliness is characterized by the craving for physical pleasure; we have this preoccupation with gratifying our physical desires. There is also the craving for everything we see; we want and want and want, never having enough; we covet and accumulating things, bowing to the god of materialism. Finally there is pride in our achievements and possessions; in other words an obsession with our status or importance. By contrast, God values self-control, a spirit of generosity, and a commitment to humble service. Because of our pre-occupation with these sins, we often do not recognise these sins in our lives. We are so self-centred and caught up in this rat-race. Worldliness has no future; the world is passing away and a new order is coming; one where our Lord will reign. So we do not live for a world that is passing away; rather we know that

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the **** of the flesh, and the **** of the eyes, and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the **** thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Three examples of worldliness

1)the **** of the flesh

the general sense of desire or objects of desire

2)the **** of the eyes

the wanting or desire of things unlawful...seeing and wanting

3)the vainglory of life

the pride of life...boasting in accomplishments and gathering of material objects

to say we have gotten on our own where we are in life

We dont like to admit that we may have these faults and at times may feel that where we are is due to what we have done or what we have "gathered" within our own lives. The world sets many of the things up to be what we are to aim for.

While we are gathering together our treasures here on earth in the now we are not preparing for the future which will be all eternity. We should be concentrating on our heavenly treasure which will not rot away.

Desires, any type of seeing and wanting, and being prideful of our possessions or status. This may be difficult to discern in ourselves because we feel we have worked hard for the things that we have and to get where we are. Worldliness is harmful to our future because it takes our focus and our minds away from God.

Q4 The three kinds of sins are:-

a) '**** of the flesh' - This can lead to wrongful desires of **** and not respecting the rights of others especially of the opposite sex.

B) '**** of the eyes' - Eyes can lead us to vice if not properly utilized. The mind can form all sorts of ideas which can lead man to downfall. Everything we see, we want to possess for self and even to outdo others in achieving them. At time to the extent of causing hurt to others.

c)'Pride of life' - This can lead to deceit of self. One becomes so arrogant that nothing is sufficient but to continue on gaining more. Once in this position, one will find no true friends in society. All he meets will be only those on head value because of his status. He will be lonely, no true friends, no peace of mind and sleep will sometimes be difficult that he has to resort to drugs.

To sum up for all these is 'greed'. It is not difficult for man to discern, it is rather to make that decision to desire to discern and on how we want to live life.

We should ask ourselves what we really want in life; worldly way or God's way. What the world offers is temporary and whatever you accumulate on earth will not be taken with us when we die. Now with the present and latest situations all over the world, particularly the global weather in the North and South Poles, anything can happen and this will affect our achievement in life.

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

John speaks of the "luѕt of the flesh"; the "luѕt of the eyes"; and "the pride of life".I think that sometimes as Christians we just take a lot of things for granted and many of the worldly pleasures and desires become a part of our lives. Only when we take step back, do we realize that we are caught up in some of Satan's deceptive ways. We as the church, are set apart from the world and should stand out as a shining light, but when we integrate ourselves into the ways of the world, we become ineffective as disciples and end up bringing the church into disrepute.

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

1. The **** of the flesh

2. The **** of the eyes.

3. The pride of life.

Somethings seem innocent of themselves and yet are deadly as they slowly take a strangle hold of us. These things begin innocently. Maybe taking a day off prayer or maybe just one look. Without the Holy Spirit convicting us I don't believe we can discern on our own as we are still in the flesh in this world.

This world system will one day be destroyed and we do not want to be a part of it. It is evil and against the love of God. We may not loose our salvation but it will destoy our witness for our Lord and to bring Him glory should be our chief aim and pleasure in life.

As always I have a lot of work to do in all areas.

Let us pray always for God to be glorified by His family on this earth.

God Bless!

Ans.

All the sins' root cause is from these 3 examples of Worldiness that John gives.

These sins pull us away from our divine Creators' holiness and thus from living in harmony with Him.

Wor;d in this context is the evil system totally under the grip of the devil.

This becomes concrete in wicked desires or base appetite for things forbldden by the Holy Creator

The types of sins that are listed by John cover sexual sin, that is ******* over or fantasizing over things we cannot have, or not ours to have.

Greedy longings of the mind ,wanting things for the sake of appearance rather that a genuine need, and placing our trust and looking for security in the things of this world rather than in God.

It is difficult for us to often see these things in our own lives, sometimes we just don't want to see them, and sometimes we are caught up in them and we are blind to our poor state.

It is only by Gods strength and grace that we are able to stand against the pull of the flesh.

If we allow ourselves to get tangled up by the worlds ways, we can be influenced and before we know it we are back in the grip of the world, and her ways.

The three examples of wordliness, cravings, lusts and boastfulness easily slip into our minds and thoughts. I always find myself saving to have something and the minute I get it, my mind is on something else. These things are such a snare that we could never overcome them on our own. Only through the Word, vigilent prayers and fasting can we overcome these deep sins ingrained in our nature. If we do not make the conscious decision to keep our minds on God and Jesus Christ, we are doomed to only seeing our own wants and desires.

Every kind or type of sins are covered by these three examples of human worldliness; and all three of these types were offered to our Lord Jesus Christ by Satan when He was in the wilderness being tempted but never having sinned, and we are also tempted by all of these kinds of sins, but often we don

What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives?

I rewrite what Pastor Ralph Wilson write in this lesson: First is the **** of the flesh. It may refer to any and every desire of man in his rebellion against God. It may also refer to the primitive desires of man; second is the **** of eyes, It may refer to sexual **** incited by seeing. It may also refer to the greedy ambitions. Third is the pride of life. It may refer to a boasting or arrogance in ones wealth or outward circumstances

Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves?

Because although we have been saved and are Gods children now, the sinful nature is still in us, and we are prone to sin, and we can win the battle against sin, or we can overcome the world, only if we are leaded by Holy Spirit or we are alway s in the light human. Although we are the members of the Kingdom of God, we still live in the world and the world rains down on us its values and teachings that approve those sins. So, we have to be in the light and let the Holy Spirit lead us and control us. If not those sins will control us and we will have those sins in us.

Why is worldliness so harmful to our future?

Because it is passing away; it produces nothing for our future, it does not produce eternal things for us; it only produce treasure on earth, not in heaven. So, if we only pursue it while we live in this world, we will get nothing eternal in the future.

[b]The **** of the flesh, because it always flows out immoderately, and never observes any due medium. He afterwards comes gradually to grosser vices.

The **** of the eyes He includes, as I think, libidinous looks as well as the vanity, which delights in pomps and empty splendour.

In the last place follows pride or haughtiness; with which is connected ambition, boasting, contempt of others, blind love of self, headstrong self-confidence.we will loose the sight of love to God!

Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Why is worldliness so harmful to our future? **** of the flesh, **** of the eyes, and the pride of life. Things that are of the world, that you desire to have. It is often difficult to discern because sometime it is also things that we at first did not have such strong desire for at first but for example if we want to go shopping for one thing but the store is having a sale, knowing that we already are having financial problem we desire to get more than what we really need. And latter it becomes a bigger problem that what it should have been because of our **** for the things that we wanted to much and really didn't need. The worldliness is harmful if we loose our focus of the things of God. We are only here for awhile, we are passing through. This world will fade away and everything in it will also. So we must do the will of God so that we can live forever with Him.
